You know you're in America, when you're ride is pulling 12.5 mpg, downhill. Gotta love it. These days will go down in history same as walkign 10 miles to school, barefoot. Someone will probably burn all the books related to diesel history.

My 2020 F250 7.3 with a 3" level Carli suspension and 37's I lost about 2.0 mpg. Now this is a gas truck vs diesel. I also added the tremor valance, running boards and wheel lip moldings to look like a Tremor on Steroids. Believe it or not that valance cost me about .5mpg. So I then added a 5 star tune to adjust for the speedo and I run the lowest hp tune which heavy tow tune. I then picked up about .5 but the additional power and torque got me slightly faster in times from 0-60 and 1/4 mile vs a stock 7.3 on the 275 65 R20's. I am actually quicker than my partners 21 Powerstroke off the line but he catches me at about 92mph. The 93 performance tune which I rarely use Is quicker across all ranges. I have access to all tires and although those RT's look good and I have run all the hybrids they wear out relatively quick and will make noise. I now have run these Falkin Wild Peaks..an AT tire and they have been quiet..look ok and wear about the best I have found. They also make the truck more nimble and handle all the loads I pull daily and get me in and out of the jobsites. Love the channel keep it up and that dually looks bad azz.

Thanks for sharing this, really good info! I’ve found that Nitto tires have the best designs that don’t wear down as quick even with constant towing. I may consider a tune when I buy a truck I will keep for more than a couple of years 👍🏾

Nice video. I’m really glad you’re mentioning the transmissions now especially compared to older trucks with only 4 and sometimes 5 speed transmissions. The 6 speed autos were huge leaps (they started the 4.x:1 first gears) and now the 10 speeds have got it perfected. And it’s worth mentioning that the 10th gear OD gear is really tall (0.63:1) so even if you did lose 10th you would only be losing an added OD gear because 9th (0.67:1) is a pretty tall OD gear in itself and is what most of the 6 speeds used for their top gear anyways. Anyways, I would say having some more miles on the truck has improved the performance. It’s fair to say with the stock tires it would probably be a little quicker even still, especially based off the trap speeds.
@JB_WhoWork

Thanks, i would switch off the tires back to stock and test it but ain’t nobody got time for that 😂! I wish GM added a boost gauge because I’m betting the boost increased at some point during break in 👍🏾👍🏾

@@JB_WhoWork definitely lol. I would like to see GM offer some more information too. They actually started the whole driver information stuff with the 1999 model year trucks. So with all the digital gauges they have now I would think it would be very simple to do. Gear indicators are definitely cool but if we’re being honest they are totally unnecessary with automatic transmissions. You’re only going to get a downshift if you have the rpm space to get one so I don’t really see the fuss about not knowing what gear you’re in. Now for a CDL truck with a manual transmission it can be literally life or death if you miss a gear going down a grade but with autos they are going to do what they will do.

With your speedometer off due to larger tires, you drove more miles than what you recorded so your mileage is actually quite a bit better than what you calculated. You could do a calculation and determine the actual miles driven based on the difference in tire size and then determine actual mileage. It could easily be 1 mpg better. Your times could also be skewed unless your measuring tool is reading gps speed.
@1unkn0wn

Yes, if you use an Edge Performance tuner to correct the speedometer, you'll see accurate speeds and an improvement in MPG. Use the setting to adjust the tire diameter and circumference. Bump things around until your GPS speed matches your speedometer. Mathematically, that's the way it works. Then, adjust your tune for an additional 125 HP and you'll love it!
@RedEemblem

Acc is better because the longer gearing improves low speed acceleration. If with stock tyres and the ability to skip gears it w'd be even faster. Just like a semi with 18 gears skips, but needs all of them when climbing or descending loaded. Take this in to account
@JB_WhoWork
@JB_WhoWork Жыл бұрын
The gears are so deep 1st-3rd you almost can’t tell a difference in the performance with taller tires, if I did a roll from 40, stock would most likely win

Until you get the computer system recalibrated everything the truck tells you is off. It under calculates everything. You drive farther than the computer thinks you did. This is because the distance per revolution is based on the shorter stock tire. With bigger tires you go farther for each revolution. I calculated all this for my dually when I went up.

Your mph and miles on the trip meter are both off. You need to use a GPS to track miles traveled to tell what mpg you are getting. Fix the tire size on the truck so you can utilize the dash and trip meters.

Now I’m getting 14-15 at best! On hwy.. I even got an Idash to change tire size so I know how fast I’m going. Get the idash, your speed is about 6mph off.

@13:10 you said you have to do that long hold on GM trucks to start. Every video I’ve watched this week on the 2024 GMC 2500 AT4, the reviewer just quickly pushes and releases the start button and it fires right up.

@@XploreAz They don't on mine. If you want the gauge to work, lights to come on, put truck in neutral, fuel pump to run, you have to do a long press on start button -no brake. If you have the diesel you need to the long press after a fuel filter change, or it wont purge the air. Try a long press and see the difference for yourself.

The trip computer is more optimistic than before because the computer hasn’t been calibrated for the new tire size. Your calculations are also optimistic because you didn’t divide the actual miles on the run with 37’s. If the route was the same, both miles driven in your spreadsheet should have been the same.
@MZZHZZWZZ
@MZZHZZWZZ Жыл бұрын
Unless your using the word optimistic in reverse it's just the opposite of what you said. The trip computer is now logging less miles and indicating lower mpg than actual. If he would've used the actual miles driven the mpg would be higher than he reported.

The computer would be showing worse fuel economy than he’s actually getting. It’s basing it off of going 76 miles or whatever it calculates when in reality he would have traveled more miles. He’s off 7 mph so if he’s going an indicated 60 mph the truck will think he went 60 miles in an hour when in reality he went 67 miles. So that would make his hand calculated fuel mileage he more than the truck would indicate.
