As a solo senior my Thanksgiving tradition has evolved to watching the National Dog Show while putting my Christmas tree up and decorating my house. I have my turkey dinner at night instead of at noon. A turkey breast cooked in the crockpot with instant stuffing, mashed potatoes and a vegetable from my garden. I shop on line for gifts, never changing out of my pj's all day.

I downsized from a large new built house, to a 90 year old cottage, so I’ve started declutterring and sorting. I am laying out forty plus years of Christmas decor and invited all my kids and grandkids to come over and take whatever they want, and the remainder is going to Goodwill!

I just love your kitchen and all the storage you have. The decorations can be used over & over because you'll set them up differently each year and no one will remember them. Every year I had the same dilemma of whether to decorate for Christmas before or after Thanksgiving. But since we’re empty nesters and our kids have moved out, I still choose to decide after Thanksgiving…for pictures!

Lol the nerf dart in the floral arrangement is 100% relatable to my house 😂. I couldn’t tell you how many nerf darts, legos and goldfish crackers I have found over the past decade hidden inside vases and decor. In the past we always waited until Black Friday to decorate (my husband is a big stickler for not jumping holidays). But since we moved into our big house six years ago…it has slowly turned into thanksgiving week. Since I’m the one to put everything up, it’s become too much to do in one day. I pretty much start on the Monday of that week and do a room a day until Black Friday. Then we put up our giant tree in the living room and decorate in there. Now that my son’s getting older (almost 12) he’s a big help bringing down the 3 big trees throughout the week.

Your design thoughts and decorations are always so beautiful. I have watched you for quite a few years, but I’m not one to comment much. I have gotten so many wonderful ideas. Keep on doing what you do so well. You have such a big heart and you and Kyle are amazing together when you team up for your Room Rescue. The latest, Season 1 E3, was so neat. The wife was so EXCITED on how the room looked. It was gorgeous. And let me just say, I am loving all the Bloom towels I have purchased. Your after dark cleaning videos always remind me of my mom and make me tear up. I come from a very big family and the only time my mom had to herself was when everyone was asleep. I remember helping her and those are some of my favorite memories I have with her. We didn’t really talk much during these cleans but just being together was more than enough at times. She passed away a year and a half ago and I miss her terribly. I used to decorate after thanksgiving but since having a child, we’ve been putting up our tree mind November, so this weekend our tree is going up and my son is excited.

I know what you mean about not having the money to decorate. I’m at that point right now. I had a great job but had to go on disability at age 52. I’m 72 now & I live in subsidized housing. I have little space to put things out & little money to buy decor anyway. YET, God is good & I have found that even a little in the way of decor means a lot. I love you way you can do so much decorating & it always looks so good. Blessings. I sent the link to this to a friend. She is a crafter like me & loves to decorate. I do a faux tree now. I always did live but one year we werent't going to be home for Christmas. I was sad as that was going to be my first year without a tree. I didn't have anyone to come water it. So my husband surprised me with a faux tree. I haven't looked back since! Thank you for being so giving. The gingerbread houses are so adorable!!!

Everything is beautiful, Amanda! I am a little sad that all my holiday decor is not going up this year. Long story short, everything I own including all my holiday decor is down in Mexico. I'm moving there soon, and I already had almost everything I own transported down to the home I am moving to. I'm basically living out of a suitcase in this home until the house is ready for me down there. Oh...I LOVE THE TREE! It's exactly the right size, fullness and the lights aren't too big and flashy. A minimal tree is right up my ally. Enjoy!

Hello Amanda, it's so good to be here again. Love watching all of your videos. I think in my opinion America is moving so fast. Right before Halloween, everywhere you see, not only Halloween, but Thanksgiving and Christmas stuff displayed in the stores.I usually decorate for Christmas after Thanksgiving. So if I remove my Thanksgiving giving decorations and put Christmas stuff on the table, it's sure won't look so appealing to me. Again, everyone is different. But enjoy and have peace of mind. After all, whatever makes you happy. I am always enjoying everything you do. You are an amazing individual and do everything with your genuine heart. You present yourself so professionally. we have started. we started today actually. i pulled six tubs of Christmas decor plus larger outdoor pieces. MY brother was like its not thanksgiving yet why are you all doing this today. (yet 20 mins later he got lights on the business sign and then put up the manage scene complete with electrical hookup and lights!) Gotta love my brother. My SIL and I started the process of placing out her vintage clauses, and large trains. Then we spread the love throughout the living room with more vintage Santa's, the holy family, and the Christmas village! Tomorrow I put all the fall decor up in storage and then proceed to finish decorating the front porch.

In Sweden we really don't celebrate Halloween, maybe dress up for the kids, no trick or treat! We don't have Thanksgiving, so Christmas can start whenever really. Where I live the snow often comes in November, that's when the Christmas feelings begin for me. We put up special Christmas lights or stars in our windows at the first of advent. Nowadays we can put up the Christmas 🎄 2 weeks before Christmas but when I was a child we would do it the night before Christmas! And by the way we celebrate on the 24th, Santa comes at the night of 23rd 😊

I am hoping next week to be able to get some Christmas decoration up and possibly my tree. I remember doing nighttime cleaning or organizing. I at 3 boys within 5 years. And then I became a single mom and had to learn to run my home, Repairs organizing all on my own. At night became when I got things done. Plus for many years I did take care in my home For families that we knew and relatives, So night time is when things got done. I have been. Watching your videos for a while and everything you do I think is absolutely beautiful. You motivate me and give me ideas for things to do in my home and I'm always sharing your videos and having people watch them because I think you do such a great job. I am also loving how you are doing. Transformation in peoples homes. That is really fun to see the Before & After and the process. I love your gingerbread homes. They turned out so cute. Here in Minnesota. I wonder if we will get much. Snow sometimes on Christmas we don't have any. Your glass shelves remind me of my grandma house. She had glass shelves and would have the fun items on there, we would always Reminisce about the items. I have a friend that moved into a new place. So I'm hoping she will find your video as I shared it with Her to encourage her for some ideas in her home. Also. Thank you so much when you show your recipes, chicken and cranberries. That sound delicious and gonna give it a try. We actually got some chickens from my son's co-worker. That raised them. They're so big they are like a small turkey.

Hi Amanda I so did not feel like cooking but was thinking heyyyy I have all ingredients 😁 we worked hard in the yard today so thought I am not cooking but you inspired me, husband said heyyyy what are you cooking smells nice! I have something to share you always have your oils in the bookshelf why don’t you make a hidden cabinet on the right hand side in the molding part you would not see it but you can hide some games etc and have the oils and water on hand
