The viewing audience may actually be more than 13 million, a lot of people don't know this, but Baseball is more than just a "City" sport, it's part Regional/City, most cities have Metro populations, and some even have what is called Combined Statistical Area. A Combined Statistical Area (CSA) is defined as various combinations of adjacent metropolitan and micropolitan areas with economic ties measured by commuting patterns. In other words, for places like NYC, there's obviously MORE to NYC, there's Long Island, parts of NY State, Connecticut, and even New Jersey (Meadowlands anyone?), it basically answers the question, when you leave a city, how long does it take to find the rural countryside? Last year was the least viewed WS, true, combining Dallas-Fort Worth and Phoenix's CSA's, =~14 million, and the highest rated game was 11 million, which is HORRIBLY low for a national audience given America's total population let alone between the 2 cities if they were the primary audience! NYC's CSA is ~22 million people! Los Angeles, despite inner city LA having just under 4 million? ~18 million live in LA's CSA! 40 million people live either inside these 2 cities, or near these 2 cities! This is why you hear that LA and NYC are the LARGEST markets, cuz they literally are! Milwaukee for instance? Is legit the SMALLEST market in all of baseball! It has the 34th ranked CSA! Even if you take the rest of America out of the equation for TV ratings, this World Series could still easily generate over 40 million viewers just between the 2 markets! The WS hasn't reached 20 million viewers since 2019, 40 million since 2016 (Cubs). THIS, is one of many reasons why a Salary Cap doesn't and wouldn't work for MLB, and why the sport works the way it does compared to the others in the NFL, NHL, and NBA. MLB is legit the only sport that operates by CSA markets. NFL works via regional markets, NBA/NHL work via city markets. Look at the arenas and stadiums in the NFL/NBA/NHL, they work perfectly for those leagues vs Baseball. Then there's also the league structure, how many games does each sport play? NBA/NHL play 41 home games a year out of 82, the average capacity of those arenas is ~17.5k, if we multiply that by 41 it = 717,500 maximum attendance. In the NFL let's say for ease of argument, the average cap of an NFL stadium is 70k, including preseason every NFL team is guaranteed (unless overseas games) 10 home games a year, and if they were all fully sold out, that's 700k fans in attendance per year. Now look at MLB, 43,277 is the average capacity of an MLB stadium (subject to change), and each team plays 81 home games guaranteed per year! Multiply that number and it already blows NFL/NBA/NHL out of the water in total attendance! Now look at the actual attendance numbers, and you will see that teams like the Marlins and A's would GROSSLY hold back MLB if a Salary Cap is instituted! It would be similar to how the AZ Coyotes held back the NHL from growing (now Utah)! There's definitely more to this, but I'm rambling now, so I'll leave this there. This subject is a huge reason I'd love to make KZbin videos, but am broke...

Happy for Freedie but it hurts as a Braves fan to see him shining in the wrong uniform. Huge mistake by Alex Anthopoulos to not keep Freedie. Anyways. Go Freedie. F the dodgers and the yankees

First truely international World Series? Yet the Toronto Blue Jays of the country of Canada won back to back World Series in '92/'93?

sad that the Expos couldn't have won a WS.

Uhhh.. Bud.... Stanton didn't sign a "mega deal" with the Yanks... He was traded. Big difference.

Well... that was definitely a start.

I love seeing these 2 small market, frugal teams in the WS. Warms my heart.

i am not a big baseball fan at all, but bought a stream service just to watch this series. no one pumped me up, i was just like “yankees vs. dodgers World Series? I’m in”

Nah, 2016 was the biggest world series. Two teams, trying to end their multi-generational droughts

This was a great video! The details were on point. We are only 2 games into the world series and it has brought everything I have wished for and more!

Changing the thumbnail is insane 😂😅😅😂

All the haters saying the Ohtani isn't worth MVP simply due to his DH position can EAT IT!!! No DH in history has a WAR above 7.0. Ohtani had a WAR of 9.2!!!! Ohtani also balled the hell out in the first 2 rounds of the playoffs to get them to the world series! He was on base about 3 times per game in the NLCS, and he averaged 1 run scored and 1 RBI per game for the first 11 playoff games he was in. That's clutch!

Funny that Game 1 had such an insane ending that he's already changed the thumbnail to Freddie Freeman hot off his best Kirk Gibson impression

I love how this channel can break down things to a degree that I can never think of. Puts everything into an even better perspective. Now I'm even more hyped for this series than I already was. I'm not even a huge, die hard fan of either team 😂

9:41 the problem with saying the Dodges would have finished 9 games lower without Ohtani is that the dodgers wouldn't have used a "replacement level" player in the DH spot. even an average hitter would be 2-3 games better than a replacement level. Still, that's a lot of games.

I just always imagine some intellectual arguing with someone that has just enthusiastically answered “we don’t give a fuck.” being unable to accept the reality that while it makes absolutely no sense, you cannot argue against it, certainly not with people that have that energy. Not giving a fuck is undeniable.
