@kristianhirka5605 it can mean a lot. It can also be meaningless. Example. Say your team goes for a change and the second your skates hit tye ice they score, that's a -1 on you even though you were on the ice for literally 1 second before the goa. The same thing can happen for a +1. Also if you have a goal that gives up 8 goals on 9 shots that might not be on the defense. Plus minus just means while Forsling is on the ice the other team is less likely to score. But while Nerus is on the ice the other team is more likely to score.

finally a review that is not about how the Oilers are bad, but about how good the Panthers actually are...
@wwpjd28
@wwpjd28 5 ай бұрын
I think Steve has been like that this entire time. He was very clear that the Oilers are a fantastic team (and probably would’ve beaten any other Eastern team pretty handedly) but that the Panthers are just something different this year. Only reaction videos I’ve been watching. Hard as an Oiler fan to see my team misrepresented by everyone. This Florida team is insane and will win a deserved cup.
@SirVTropic
@SirVTropic 5 ай бұрын
@@wwpjd28 I wasn't criticizing Steve: it's just that most of the other youtuber's reviews of game 3, I have seen so far, are only focusing on "stupid" and "unforgivable" mistakes that some Oiler's players did... These reviews tend to refuse to accept that Florida forces the Oilers to make these mistakes...

@@SirVTropic I agree. I didn’t think you were criticizing Steve. I thought (like you just said) that you were complementing him for seeing the quality of both teams. Oilers are an elite team with the best superstars on the planet. And the Panthers are just better. Better coached, better executed, better defense than i expected (and I knew they were insane), and a goalie playing out of his mind.
@thatoneskierdude4410
@thatoneskierdude4410 5 ай бұрын
@@wwpjd28 I think you're giving the Panthers a little too much credit. A lot of this is on the Oilers for screwing up. In game 1 alone Edmonton could have won *if* they had shot at bobby's weak spots. Assuming the coaching staff and players are competent enough, they should know this. Instead as you witnessed every single shot in game 1 was down low (BOBBYS STRONGEST SPOTTTT). and the oilers had a lot of scoring chances. i think if they were smarter about this and started going up high (as we saw more of in game 3) then more goals would be on the scoreboard. just my 2 cents.

Panthers fan here and thank you for giving credit where credit is due. Love your channel even though I'm one of the sicko's that come here after a Toronto loss. Something that was not mentioned is we have NOT lost to Edmonton all year. 6-0 Not that it matters but numbers if you know what I mean. This years Panthers are the Vegas Golden Knights of last season. We learned from that and built on it. Not many teams can say their players said they would be back and do it. In the beginning of the playoffs, IN THE BEGINNING.....we had redemption everywhere. That's a bold thing to do in the beginning of the playoffs. This team is very strong. President trophy winners to Cup losers to now this. It has been incredible to watch as a fan and I have waited 30 years for this. We are closing it out on Saturday and when we do, the Oilers need to remember that feeling like we did. There is a clip posted from time to time that shows the Panther players faces during that loss and I'm pretty sure Paul Maurice has shown it at some point this season. Anyway, keep up the good work, always fun to watch you.

I feel like the Panthers are built somewhat similarly to the Lightning during their cup wins. They can roll 4 lines, have superstars that can score, solid top-6, really good to god-tier goaltending, and just pulverize their opponent physically. I do think they are more physical than Tampa and don't have the top dman like Hedman, but it just feels like they slightly copied that model and took a bit of Vegas with their physicality. They play such a good team game that it does remind of how Tampa would just wear down their opposition.

They are a team in the Stanley Cup finals. BUT STILL STRUGGLE WITH THE BASICS!!!....Routine dump in for Skinner and Ceci....GOAL. Yet another bone headed give away by Bouchard....GOAL. A 2 on 1 and apparently Bouchard STILL has no idea where he is supposed to be defending a 2 on 1...GOAL. Nurse, simple clearance?.....GOAL Let's not forget our offences overpassing and under back checking. Knoblachs constant line juggling, seems to have created more confusion and lack of cohesion than paying off for him.. The tactic of keeping McDavid and Draisaitl seperated....until they start losing.....and than nervously putting them together when the other team is 2 goals up and expect them to save the day everytime??? It screams of a coach who is in over his head. Oilers, like the Leafs have some BIG roster decision's and BIG question's to ask this summer. The Canadian Stanley Cup drought continues until then.

Holloway on the Tarasenko goal is on the boards in case Skinner wants to reverse the puck up the boards for an outlet. It's not likely because Skinner is facing the other direction, but if FLA overloads the strong side, he's there on the weak side for the outlet. One big problem on that play is Kulak is not where he should be (in fact I think Holloway is back where he is because he's covering for Kulak.) I don't fault Skinner on that goal. Yeah, he bobbles it behind the net, but once again, Cody Ceci is the casual one. He's got position, he's gotta get first touch on that puck, especially when he can see Skinner having trouble with it.

To make this “Leafy”, this whole series has had air of Maple Leafs, from the never ending discussion of “deserve-to-win o’meter” and advanced stats… goals being allowed consistently when you really need a save, with excuses of “well what do you expect the goalie to do in this specific situation”. Well, you expect a save! The other guy is making saves, whether he should or not! This is Maple Leafs ptsd from a team that is in many ways built the same (albeit arguably better), surprise surprise. Does not bode well for the future.

In terms of which save is "the save" I would say more likely you can choose from about 5 saves he made in game 1 that kept things right until Florida started looking like themselves. Edmonton could have won game one and would at worst be down 2-1 right now with one more home game. The save last night we have come to expect from Bob much like TB used to count on Vas to make those saves.

This discussion about the best team vs. the best "team" is something I stress every single year. If your favorite team doesn't have character and cohesion, it often doesn't matter if they have high talent. They have to be a single unit and all on the same page, and hopefully full of character. I will take a 5th seed with a good coach and a few scrappy character guys that all want the same for themselves over the President's Trophy winner or the highest-scoring team any day of the week.

The Oilers biggest offensive weakness is being revealed: they don’t have any players who are good in front of the net with deflections. Hyman is great at screening and getting rebounds and tap ins, but he can’t deflect shots at all. They haven’t had that guy since Ryan Smyth. Henrique and McLeod might be the 2 best on the team at deflections and Henrique may be average at it and McLeod below average. When you’re against a hot goaltender, you have to screen him and deflect shots. Oilers haven’t been doing enough of either.

Nah the save is still the Bobbery we saw against Tampa. If the series had been tighter we would probably think about Bob doing bob things more. And sure Bob stole game 1. But he surely played great in game 3, but this feels more like a team effort, yeah they got close, but at this point you'd expect that out of Bobrovsky. He is just that good down low.

Forsling with the best + -, Barkov which is the best defensive forward in the NHL, and then you got Bob who's the best goalie right now.

Contextually in regard to it happening in the SCF, that is "the save." However, it's going to be hard to oust that absolute robbery against the Lightning no matter what sort of stand-on-your-head play Bob has left up his sleeve. I'd argue it has every reason to supplant the Lightning save if only because of the context around it and how Bob makes an incredibly difficult recovery and stop look so effortless. He avoids letting the puck from McDavid rebound off his skate, somehow turns all the way back to square up, AND is able to get his pad back down on the ice, and it just looks like another Tuesday morning for the man.
