I'm so with you on the "alpha males" - I've had enough 😭 The Splinter in the Sky was also a dnf for me for the same reasons and I was very disappointed

Have you read the other Courtney Milan in that series "The Marquis who Mustn't"? I also dnf the Duke who Didn't, but really loved that other one.

Every single one of Vanessa Riley's historical romances is about a relationship with a white guy and usually a biracial (Black and white) woman and based on the ones I read/attempted to read and the ones other people have told me about she's always experiencing some kind of racism.

I’m just like why…. I could deal with it in island queen because it wasn’t a romance and she didn’t end up with the guy but knowing this? I’m avoiding her romance all together.

@@rouxellereads She's biracial herself so I think that factors into her need to see that type of pairing in every book. But like she's also married to a Black man so I wish she would write a regency romance with two Black people.
