I think Calvin goes for it on 16 and 17 to make a statement to Ricky that the good vs bad break on 16's wall didn't matter. And boy did it not matter, except in Ricky's head. In that headspace, Ricky was rude walking in front of Calvin tapping his disk in on 16, and then on 17 Calvin knew the best statement was just demolishing him in score.

About Calvin laying up on 16: What Jerm and Uli dont understand that the man is in the zone, has not missed a putt all day. Why would you even consider laying up if you know you will make it? The safest spot is in the bucket. Stick to your gameplan. Playing aggressive is what got Calvin into the spot he was in, why would he change it?
