With a few days remaining until South Africans go to the polls in what has been described as watershed elections, residents of Swellendam in the Western Cape are concerned about the status quo in the country. The town was rocked by unrest late last year, resulting in the closure of the N2 highway and the torching among others a municipal building in the centre of town, and one in Railton. While those protests centred around the municipality's indigent policy, residents say after three decades of democracy, there is still much work to be done.
