Took delivery of ours a couple of weeks ago - it’s brilliant - can’t imagine needing anything much faster for everyday use. It’s great fun to drive - surprising nimble and agile and the driving sounds are fab - especially in Go-kart with the drive set to regen ‘B’ mode - when you back off the throttle it sounds like a pod-racer from The Phantom Menace. 😀. We had the last of the old Mini convertibles on loan for a week from MINI before our new one arrived and the difference in quality and materials is immediately obvious - the new MINI is in a different league to the old one. If you’ve got one on order, it’s well worth the wait. 👍

I have one of the first U25 Countryman S E Sport L3’s in the UK after 3 years with the previous gen Cooper S E L3. If was my 1st EV and it was just perfect for 95% of my driving needs but……….. if I wanted to go more than 120 miles I had to resort to my diesel 2023 Defender. I Loved the Cooper S E it was a blast but I have an elderly parent to transport around and I am passed retirement age so in April I it was changed for the Countryman S E that was sat on my Mini dealer’s forecourt - it was handed over to me on 9th April thanks to BMW allowing the dealer to sell what was about to be registered as their demo. I really love the Countryman S E Sport although I have had the silly “go faster” stripes taken off last week when the car was in having the bonnet and front wings done with Xpel PPF. The Countryman with AWD is brilliant to drive quickly on twisty roads and in the city where it’s suspension set up is pure dead brilliant! I managed to extract 255 of its 260 mile claimed range recently. It’s a great motorway cruiser too. It didn’t take me very long to find the switch to silence the silly engine noises. Not that keen on the JCW badging in many places on what isn’t really a JCW, just has very comfy sport seats over the other models. I’ve had software issues especially the satnav voice instructions when a route is set - it simply won’t give me any and says that English is an available language for the system! But also tells me that it cannot do instructions in French Spanish German or Italian as I’ve also tried those too - BMW iT don’t seem to be able to get it back as I did have voice instructions when I drove out of the showroom but they disappeared when the car became online/connected. The Augmented Reality is very good BUT you can only see it by looking away from the road to the big centre screen as it doesn’t show on the HUD. As you say with Mini Mini is great but the Countryman or as I call it the New Electric Austin Maxi especially in Sport guise is even better as there is no wheel scrabble on hard acceleration thanks to the clever way that the torque gets pushed around the AWD system. I’ve even tried mine Offroad (as a serious off-roader with my Defender the Countryman’s Trail mode setting had to be tried out at least once - I’ll stick to the Defender for anything more serious than a forest drive type gravel road - the low ground clearance isn’t great for battery safety! BTW I went for the Smokey Green with Black roof option for the colours - Legend grey or Black 0:20 with a red roof looks silly with the red “ear warmer flaps” intruding into the rear windows - unnecessary styling, but you don’t notice them at all if the roof is black, even on the white version they are less noticeable in black than red.

@DefinitelyNotAGuru6 ай бұрын
It's not a bad thing, have you seen the 4 door?
@vigneshn.y30486 ай бұрын
@DefinitelyNotAGuru well. Yes in the petrol version. 2 door cars don't sell in this world. They become a very niche market. That's why you don't have fiesta and focus and polo 2 doors anymore. They are impractical for families and are a quickly declining breed. Hence why sports cars are also such small sellers even the cheaper ones like MX5 or GT86

Great review, but how can leatherette be considered to be sustainable? Leatherette is PVC, PVC is made from oil; leather is made from hides, people still eat beef, there will still be hides produced as a byproduct available, is this not more sustainable than oil based products that are now considered to be taboo?

I wondered how long that would take - not long it seems. I've just looked at the first piece of footage I can see and it's 153 miles on 83% - the car was left on pretty much all morning with the aircon on whilst I was filming and the car was being driven by a child with a new toy (me) so really the economy and range assumptions here are not real world in the slightest. I wouldn't dream of discussing something like efficiency on a drive day (especially not one where it's been left on for 3 hours before I started driving); it's best left for real-life reviews after having had the car for a week and having driven on different roads, with different distances, temperatures etc. The WLTP figure could be spot-on or absolute fiction for all I know.
