I was at the Southport Liverpool march. It was an awesome day out and I couldn’t believe how nice Southport is.

If Scotland voted yes instead of no on the referendum do you think Ireland would stay with England in the union?

These bonfire's will do nothing to harm the planet , they have controlled forest fires in many countries. There's no way the English will give up bonfire night.

I appreciate your politically impartial nature when documenting this. It's clear that this event on the 11th is very important to a great number of people, yet I've always found it difficult to look past the burning of flags, pictures of politicians, and the disruptive behaviour which has surrounded bonfire night over the years. It has always tainted a tradition, which otherwise, although not passionate about it myself, I could respect for what it was. As you put so well, it's unlikely to stop anytime soon. Thanks for your coverage!

@@edwardkingthompson I’m in complete agreement with you. I admire the tradition more than anything else. And I don’t appreciate the burning of flags, politicians and behaviour also. The people in the Estates cling to these bonfires as they (rightly) feel forgotten by everyone other than their own community. I can see how they claim to always be on the back-foot.

@@PonderingsofIrishPresbyterian I can certainly appreciate that. They are part of the identity of these people who as you say have often been neglected and forgotten by their community and society.

@PonderingsofIrishPresbyterian Any primitive urges I may or may not have can and will be superceded by my Education and a desire to see this island become a tolerant , safe and prosperous place for my children and my grandchildren. I do not forsee how teaching a generation of future Dr's, Engineers or nurses that burning stolen materials , rubbish and noxious chemicals is somehow a culture or tradition that would help them progress in life . I can therefore assume that due to these hate events of which only one religion is welcome ( and please do not insult me by reporting that everyone is welcome ) are predominantly held in lower class housing estates , that this is rife and will be a difficult thing too change in the near future . @@garethmorgan7160 bonfires are only a symptom of the problem. They themselves are innocent minus the politics and pollution. Listening to the people and their gripes, the pain is obvious - there is no easy fix but take note the government or system will be no Helper. The Bible tells us that God is our Refuge, a present Help in times of trouble with His Son Jesus says: ‘I am the Way, the Truth & the Life’.
