Did the SailGP crew go on vacation at end of last season and decide to just wing it for this race? There were so many things wrong they can’t be listed. After race two standings had Canadian flag for Australia, tons of talk at end of race two about the pressure to finish before 16 minute cutoff and no time on the screen, in all races after the first boat rounded a mark that was the end of the coverage for that mark, wind overlay disappeared for third start, didn’t even show all the boats finish 3rd race and the standings at end of the day were all wrong. That’s just off the top of my head, lots more. And all while trying to promote as a premier sports event “racing” in a region that seldom has wind - I worked offshore there for 6 years. I can’t believe Canadian race got dropped while there are 3 events in this region.

I don't mind the light stuff, it's still very competitive and tactical. After all, they are only going twice what normal boats are going with breeze. I was wondering how the boats are holding up. They have been racing a few years now and it isn't like they were built like Westsail 32's. A few have had significant damage from collisions like the bow of Japan getting cut off by the Brits. I've worked on some AC campaigns, they would likely have a smaller safety margin that the GP50's since the 50's are raced harder for more years and in the "Full Contact" mode.

I do really enjoy watching the series and the excellent commentary from your experts ..... BUT .... why oh why did you change from knots to kilometres? Boat speed and wind speed means nothing when given in kilometres, given that for seafarers the standard unit of measurement of wind and boat speed is knots. I understand that you're successfully bringing our sport to the masses, but surely part of this responsibility is also to educate the followers. Every country who broadcasts a shipping forecast uses the Beaufort scale, I do have a serious issue with with the change you are making. Yes I'm an old(ish🤔) man and resistant to change, I'm bad at math, celestial navigation is a nightmare, so I fully embrace the metric system..... up to a point. I guess what I'm asking is can you use knots as the standard and kmh as the secondary measurement. Just to keep us near death older folk, who can no longer keep up with converting Km's to knots but through watching your coverage relive memories of our days racing on the edge, whilst reluctantly admitting to ourselves that although these flying machines are probably a teeny tiney little more than we can physically handle now, the rush and desire still lives in us. And whilst I'm moaning, how about a return to triangle, sausage, triangle. 😱 Challenge the designers!!
