Great show, especially the segment about Kialoa II. I can account for a "few" of her miles during the time it was owned by one of the "American Chaps" Frank Robben. I was lucky enough to sail on her from Japan to San Francisco and on another trip from Darwin to the Med. On that trip we dismasted in the Indian Ocean and had to limp to Galle Sri Lanka for repairs. Fond memories!!!

If I'm not mistaken ,Idec Joyon didn't have t-foils . Only daggerboards... . His record is proof of his incredible seamanship...way above all other super duper french sailor media hero's .

Good summaries of the Sailing world as ever, one small thing, you might have mentioned the boat show was in Genoa a little earlier in the segment and more prominently...nothing to do with the fact it's my home town!

What a contrast, foils versus classic yachts. Gran prix versus concours d'elegance.

So, when the weather conditions are getting nasty is better a Pelle jacket rather than Henri Lloyd 😂

Broke the starboard foil. What's the bet there's a very confused whale swimming around in circles with the mother of all headaches.

Incredible pieces of kit, but all those appendages, that make them go so fast, are fragile. Better luck next try.

I don't know. What is forward-looking sonar anyway? There's a lot of floating junk in open ocean you know, that can ruin your day.

Foil boats are the way to do it, BUT If you don't have the luck to go with it, you will break some equipment, these French sailiors are the best in the world, nexr rime take a rabbits foot with you or pray to Odin. LOL!
