"The Prost-Senna rivalry: Tensions were high during the Suzuka Grand Prix in Japan on October 22, 1989. Ayrton Senna had to win the last two races of the season to take the championship. Otherwise, his teammate Alain Prost would win the crown. It all came to a head on lap 46. Senna had pole position, but Prost quickly took the lead after the start. He dominated the first half of the race, but the tide turned once the Brazilian pitted for soft tires. He caught up to Prost, and as he made his dive to the inside on turn 16, Senna and the Frenchman's cars caught each other and came to a halt. Though Prost's car was disabled in the crash, Senna was able to continue on thanks to some assistance from the marshals, and went on to win the race, keeping his championship hopes alive... or so he thought. Senna was disqualified after the race for failing to go through the chicane while re-entering the track after the incident. The decision handed Alessandro Nannini the race win, and Prost the championship victory. McLaren tried to appeal to no avail, and Senna was eventually handed a hefty fine and a six-month ban from the sport. The ensuing political chaos accused the FIA of showing favoritism to Prost, which he later denied. Senna actually quit F1 in protest before eventually coming back to the sport. The crash is seen as arguably the most controversial in all of Formula 1 history."

Both combatants have culpability, this battle could have continued as there was room to manuever. Track characteristics and the FIA rulings were at a fault in the incident. However, from F1's viewpoint, all this attention is an absolute gold mine (ie: Silverstone ticket sales). KZbinrs and F1 accountants are truly licking their chops in all this. I think that the "FIA only goes strict against non-british drivers" is an exaggeration BUT after noticing how much time it took to ACTUALLY give Norris a penalty for exceeding track limits makes me think that FIA did it on purpose so he could keep battling with Max for 1st place. Also it is very suspicious that the penalty appeared on screen the moment Norris and Max had their "inchident". I'm sure thing would have gone differently if Piastry was 2nd instead of Norris

Silverstone ‘21. The punishment fits the crime not the consequences. Salt in the wounds when your rival takes you out on lap 1 and wins the race despite a 10-second penalty he chose to serve when it was the most advantageous to him without losing any position.

max shouldn’t have to take full responsibility for a crash he didn’t fully cause. lando is a good driver no doubt, but max is a great driver. watch the onboard. he didn’t move the wheel under braking, he followed the racing line and had the apex. it was his corner and lando should have backed out.

Guys super idea Red Bull re signed checo to keep max happy that he does not have to fight a team mate well brilliant idea they bring in Nico hulcknburg and he will get p4 in every single race (better than checo but not next to max) and then he will get at least p4 in the world drivers championship then red bull can still get constructors championship it’s a win win for everyone except Nico when he gets depressed that he gets p4 every race of the season

10 seconds for Max was more than enough, in f1 you don't punishment the outcome but the accident. And yes the accident was the mistake van max, but you need 2 people to tango, you can fully blame max for it. But stop crying about it, it's a championship and you want hard Racing and not for drivers to leave a door open than you will have a "boring" race and than people will cry about that.

I'll give you last year, first ever 1-2 for Redbull, but let's be honest the dominance came from one side of the garage. Max was consistently beating his teammate by 15+ seconds, when merc was dominant it was "valterri this is James" consistently. Look at this year, checo, the benchmark for rbs dominance, can't get past 8th place in a race. Then there's Max, extracting more out of his car than anyone on the grid. Take him out of the rb seat and put any other driver in and mclaren would be winning.
