I will support anything that fixes the medical nightmare. It takes over a year if you are currently deferred by a nameless drone that has never met you. It's costing me over $10,000 and a ton of stress. This is completely UNACCEPTABLE. I hope the Trump admin fires every single person in the Aeromedical department. The FAA needs NO BUSINESS in my medical history. The current system has endangered the public because pilots are hiding all their medical history from their AME. It's a massive danger to everyone.

What will the new requirements be for a CFI to maintain their certificate?

The FAA aeromedical system needs a complete overhaul. They are causing a pilots to avoid the doctor or hiding things on their medical application. It's a complete nightmare. It's personally costing me over $10000, a year of my time, and putting me under stress. It is criminal.

The really sad thing that was in the original bill, but got axed by a congressman catering to special interests was the provision that made it illegal for "N-number profiteering" which is when companies scoop up tens of thousands of N numbers and sit on them, and then gouge pilots an outrageous "resale fee" to use them. N numbers are a public resource provided by the FAA, and allowing a company to hoard them to make a buck goes against the very spirit of the FAA allowing people to customize their N number.

This is great however as a student pilot at a 141 it’s going to be a pain to keep track of for stage checks and eoc’s
@ghosttoast715 күн бұрын
Honestly I doubt that they’re gonna expect you to know all the changes especially if you’re a student pilot. As long as they’re not regulations they can’t hold that against you. Your school should review the changes with you. You learn as you go

The good thing is that those won’t all go into effect at the same time so you’ll have time to learn them as they pop.

The only real question is whether I'll live long enough to see them no longer require a medical for private, and eventually instrument. First step is eliminate the need for a prior medical to be able to use basic med. Sport pilot, and now basic med, have shown that not having a medical is not a detriment. A pilot with a class I medical dying in an airliner proves that even a class I medical proves nothing. A person can die the day after getting a medical, and currently someone can get a private using an eighteen year old medical, so what's the point? Eliminate a prior medical from the requirements to use basic med (Congress has to do this since it is legislated), OR eliminate the requiement that a private pilot have a medical, and allow a driver's license OR a medical (FAA can do this, as it is not legislated).

Like many law enforcement agencies, the FAA needs a civilian oversight board. However the board ( or boards if done regionally) need the authority to over rule the over bloated job protecting bureaucrats. As well as give the AME authority to certify and license the pilots they are looking at and talking to. The concept of a bureaucratic authoritarian doctor making medical decisions hundreds of miles from the patient is just plan ridiculous.

The FAA is not a law enforcement entity. When criminal acts have been discovered, the local law enforcement - or federal depending on the nature of the case - are called.

@chipsawdust5816 I wrote "like law enforcement agencies. " The FAA is one of the multitude of Alphabet agencies that create regulations and treat them and those that violate them as law and law breakers. Acting as writer, then enforcer and Judge. Every and all enforcement actions that deliver punishment and / or discipline are unconstitutional as only Congress is allowed to make laws under the Supreme law of the nation. The Constitution of the UNITED STATES. It has even been ruled so, in the Supreme Court. Thus, there is no reason that the FAA could not have civilian oversight with the power to overrule the administration.

@@turninmonyin2noise978 I don't think we're in disagreement - just different approaches. Yes, the FAA can enforce either certificate action or civil penalties (as it stands today), but is not law enforcement. As for leadership, well, we have Buttigieg in charge, so there's not much to say there.

There are lots of things that need to be addressed but this is a start, I suppose. I just want every dollar to be accounted for with serious audits of the money spent. Too often we see federal grants disappear and have the taxpayer get very little in return.
