And to think I've been to Yodobashi Camera so many times, yet didn't know about the film organisers or the portfolio (for printed work). Gosh, my suitcase is going to be jam packed with film accessories from Yodobashi, upon my next visit. I got my Zeiss Otus lenses from MapCamera, with tax-free shopping.

The basement probably is new for alot of foreignersnbut it existed for a quite long time. And one stop location for film ppl who want organizers and portfolio. I'm hoping to visit the origin of portfolio maker Cosmos....but the negotiation will continue hehe

We'll take a 1 or 2 hour video about shops across Tokyo. Please!

Funny I found Map Camera was my go to for my Leica M3 purchase when I was there in January of this year. The staff in B1 was amazingly helpful.
@RM.TokyoPhotographer3 ай бұрын
I actually Chad to include them in here since they have a large reputation for the B1F floor especially the Leica selection. Sad to say I can't afford it but for Leica users it's Mayhem heaven

Shinjuku is a great area for buying cameras, I got a Zuiko 50mm F1.4 at Shinjuku used camera and then an Olympus OM-1 at used Camera box

Tremendous job! I like the looks of Lucky Camera shop. I hope to visit these shops one day. I fell in love with Japanese cameras after working with one of the best photographers in the world in NYC, Hashi

These have been really helpful little videos, not that I need more cameras but I'll be there later in the month haha. Deciding what camera(s) to take is the issue! If my M3 is back from service by then, likely that, and potentially the GA645. Very tough choices. I'm just a couple minutes in, but looking forward to your view on these, I visited a couple of the mentioned names last time I was in Tokyo looking for a Canon P but then ended up buying one in New Zealand when I got back home.
@RM.TokyoPhotographer3 ай бұрын
Oh sweet your visiting Japan? That's a hardcore question that intimidates alot of us, which camera lense, and sometimes I regret the decision for taking the wrong camera if it's a prolong trip I take my GW690 and a small compact 35mm. Hope your M3 comes back from service in good condition:) But after doing the GR video and visiting the shop...the GRIII looks really appealing...here comes the gear aquire syndrome. Congrats on camera getting Canon P in New Zealand? Would love to hear the story behind that

@@RM.TokyoPhotographer Yep! Haven't been for about 7 years, so looking forward to coming back. The M3 had a CLA a couple years ago and was actually working great, however the curtains had torn due to old age so having those replaced now hah. I was thinking of taking my Fuji XT3 instead of 35mm film for a while too, there's no real good answer and I have too many options haha. I recently took a Canon A1 and a Bronica S2a to Bali, but that Bronica feels too large to carry around Japan as I'll be doing much more walking.

Hey, going to japan in december. In all of shinjuku stores you mentioned, what will be the best stores so I can trade in my mirrorless camera for another. Thank you , nice vid btw keep it up love from PH.

Fujiya Camera no doubt for Mirrorless

This video was super helpful! Which store would you recommend if I'm looking for a Nikon zoom autofocus lens for a Nikon F4?
@RM.TokyoPhotographer20 күн бұрын
Your welcome thanks for commenting that's hard since it's a hit or miss in most cases each camera shop has different cameras and it changes depending on the time you visit I highly suggest visiting at least three to increase the chance of finding a F4 And they are actually really hard to get by nowadays All of the shops don't focus on Nikon have so so stock so I can't vounch that one store would have it.

Fantastic video and research! I am certainly saving this list for my next trip! Which of these you believe I might get a better change of finding older fujifilm mirrorless bodies?
@RM.TokyoPhotographer3 ай бұрын
Thanks wanted to make this video ASAP. Older Fujifilm Camera that's hard to say since they are shrinking in size. Either Shashinki Kitamura or Map Camera? Since they are focused on used Mirrorless and lenses. But ironically Lemon Sha might have an old one spontaneously which is hard to predict

@@RM.TokyoPhotographer Thank you again! Either way, I will visit all of them :D And again, awesome video!

Hi there! great video! quick question, do some of this shops buy cameras too? any specific one would buy affordable 35mm SLRs and point and shoots? thanks! 🙌
@RM.TokyoPhotographer2 ай бұрын
Hello I think they don't buy but places like Kitamura would have a dedicated location to sell cameras 35mm specifically
@stkss1002 ай бұрын
@@RM.TokyoPhotographer btw, any shop in Osaka that you would recommend? thanks!
@RM.TokyoPhotographer2 ай бұрын
@@stkss100 How Ironic...I am closely going to travel there... obviously I did a video on Lemon Sha 10months ago and their parent company is called Naniwa Shoukai located in Shinsaibashi/Umeda which probably *havent gone there yet wink wink....im guessing they have the most stock available in Osaka cheers

This was very informative, actually! I'll be traveling to Tokyo in mid November and quite favorably, staying in Shinjuku! I'm in the market to look for a solid starter rangefinder camera that can take m-mount or ltm lenses, so something like a canon p, minolta cle, leica cl, or possibly even a canonet ql17 to get my feet wet. Can these be found or are they tough to find?
@RM.TokyoPhotographer3 ай бұрын
Thanks for commenting I really appreciate it :) Unfortunately I'm not a 35mm rangefinder expert I cannot vouch on the Minolta/ql17 however from my experience of visiting various shops the Leica/Leitz CL I see multiple times I rmb Lemon Sha Shinjuku having it (bc I'm not a Leica fanboy 😂) I don't know much about sumicron lenses but they had a couple if I'm right. Staying in Shinjuku? That's really awesome. And Nov. Is actually I have to say due to this global warming it's still freaking hot even in October and November is the best timing since the temp starts to go around 20degree C Hope you have the chance to finding that camera :)
@antnguyen3 ай бұрын
@@RM.TokyoPhotographer thank you, I will check out Lemon Sha for sure! Definitely not a fanboy haha, BUT I would like to see what the rangefinder experience is all about. I have my fair share of SLR’s, TLR’s, instant, and digital cameras, yet I haven’t had the chance to try a rangefinder. Hope it won’t be too rainy in November! Love the content, I find your channel very interesting, thanks for sharing.

Ryo do you know of shops selling film near Nihonbashi Chuo City please? I'm flying in from UK in a few weeks and stopping for a couple of days before going to Sendai. Thanks.
@RM.TokyoPhotographer3 ай бұрын
I'm actually not that of an expert I. That area there's far more towards Ginza area where there's Lemon Sha Ginza HQ, and there's J2Camera.jp around Suitengumae stn Also Sankyo Camera resides forward Higashi Ginza area

Lucky camera is difficult to claim free tax.
@RM.TokyoPhotographerАй бұрын
Japanese small camera shops I hear its hard to claim tax while the larger kitamura Shinjuku HQ shop etc etc are easier....but since I dont live outside I dont have that much knowlege about claiming tax

Hi Ryo, do you happen to know any film camera shops that carry darkroom accessories, B/W printing papers and chemicals in Shinjuku? Thanks in advance!
@RM.TokyoPhotographer3 ай бұрын
Printing paper yodobashi camera has it in stock (Shinjuku) but behind the counter so there's like a paper slip you take to the counter I rmb they had 4x5 not sure about 8x10 oh wait they do have some ilford 8x10 paper (checked their site today) Chemical wise they don't have color but b/w I rmb them having it in store
