Hey cut that cable shorter and use strong electric tape to fix it to the fork. That is what we did with these wires and it worked fine! Then black tape you can cover with black leather stripes from a race bike's steering wheel.

I've always been riding chase gouin tires, 1.75's. Never a problem with rubbing Frames, brakes and forks.

Diatech Flexie, makes that tight turn easily and wont put unwanted pressure/leverage on the brake arm. Still keeps the brake feeling firm and has a threaded barrel adjuster. i think its better than the v brake noodle end. cuz the hard noodle still relies on the flex of the brake cable housing. If you're good at setting up your brakes you can make either work but i found the flexie easier to set up.

Thoughts on the Colony BYO Frame Flatland Bike Build Kit with a We The People Utopia 19" TT Frame. Had at Skyway Street Beat back in 1985, and now turning 53 and looking at get back into having some fun, lol.

That would be a great build. Honestly, if I was gonna build up a bike to start up with, I would definately get the Colony BYO frame kit. The Utopia frame would be one of my top picks. Although since I'm tall, I would probably get the 20"TT.

I ordered my wife a set of KHE cranks in oil slick. Everything was fine except the right crank arm pedal boss threads were messed up. Got Salt cranks in oil slick to replace them, but other than that, u guess they're fine. All chromo

also using the zephyr tires..love 'em.about the brake housing getting rubbed..mine got worn off...you can drill a hole in the forks and run a bolt through it, like the old side pull brakes...but what it does is pushes the cable to one side...that works for me...I did have the same issue..other than what you're already doing with 2 zip ties...I use my two zip ties right next to each other(zero spacing) to really focus their strength where the cable wants to rub.

Nice set up. You could drill a hole for the cable to come through instead of coming directly out the bottom. That may help. That’s what I did with my turbo fork. I can send picture.

Tire almost rubbing the cable, depending on your forks axle slots, some forks axle(3/8) slots have room for a thin steel sleeve for the axle to sit in the forks and raise the cable from the tire, by a little tho. If this isn't enough, I'd just Dremel tool a vertical slot without compromising the forks integrity.
@flatlandjourney

That’s a really good idea! Seems like a simple enough solution. Do you know where I could purchase those steel things to go in the actual slots?

I love your videos. Please keep sharing more content... Regarding the frame, do you feel at some point the necessity to have more space between the down tube and the front wheel? I see that nowadays a lot of flatland frames looks like a traditional bmx design, but there are some other flat frames that have different designs and apparently they have more space for front wheel tricks. Thanks a lot and regards from Brazil. Obrigado!!

Great question, The trend right now is to make Flatland and Bikes look more like street bikes, hence getting rid of the bent tubes that were standard for flatland frames in the past. There are, however, some advantages to having a bent downtube that would allow for more space between the front wheel and the downtube. For example, when doing squeakers it would give you more space so your fo maneuver. Some current frames that still use bins in the tubing are the far east cycle Ramen and we the people utopia. Both are great frames

Yo, glad you got the springs right way round on the brakes, same thing happened to me, thats how I knew yours needed to be turned right way round. Have you tried to use a Vee-brake noodle to keep the brake cable more out of the way of the tire? I hadn't tried it before but it maybe could work and I think they are cheap enough.
@flatlandjourney
@flatlandjourney 4 ай бұрын
Interesting Solution. I have not tried that. However, I think I have it under control now. I ended up cutting the cable housing, shorter, and making a tighter loop, and placing the zip ties up closer to the top of the fork steer tube. For now it seems to be working.
