Alot of aftermarket and other upfits move Def to other side to help avoid accidents of wrong fluid in wrong hole. Cab and chassis set up for torque and reliability not speed.

If I was ordering one it would be the F450 with pickup. That way you get HO Power Stroke with 500 hp and 1200 torque. Then Chang to flat bed.

They are spacers the actual weight doesn’t sit on the wood. A lot of service trucks have them

I would never use wood on the underside of a truck. Why not use aluminum since it is an aluminum bed. Probably a cost cutting reason and makes me wonder where else did they cut corners.
