2024 Ford Mustang EcoBoost Review | A Better Value Than the Mustang GT!

I just bought a 2024 Eco Boost with the performance package yesterday. I was extremely satisfied with the power. I haven’t owned a Mustang since 1996 with the 4.6. I was blown away with the interior technology and the performance of the 4 cylinder engine. The phone charger picks up Apple carplay immediately. I love this car and the screen. Ford really thought this car out before they just threw it up on the production line. Outstanding job Ford!

I believe the reason they added those lights in the grill was because of not being able to see the turn signal anymore from an angle. So if you’re at a 4 way turning left but someone is on your right they can see it turn orange. It would be harder for them to see the turn signal now since the mold of the grill blocks it with them being integrated into the headlight it’s self

I got my 24 Ecoboost last month, first owner! I love it so much!! It’s so amazing on gas and my insurance is super low thanks to it having a 4 cylinder engine. I’m never trading this car in for anything else, it’s my baby for sure!! I’ve been averaging 27 mpg just driving in the city to work and back home 🐎

What is the cost to insure your 24 EB, if you don't mind answering (if you even see this)? I ordered one in early March in vapor blue with stripes and gray interior. Estimated time is about 3 months. Looking forward to the car as I enjoyed the short test drive I did at the dealer. I'm out of Cali so insurance is more expensive here compared to other states, but it will give me an idea.

For me, 2018 GT Premium owner, I recognize the “four popper” as a Mustang - sort of. There is something magical about the “5.0” badge, indicating a good ol’ American V8! Note - you get your money’s worth every time you start your 5.0 and enjoy that exhaust rumble. Also, for me, six speed manual only. Going forward, I’ll probably get an S650, if I’m able to get past the iPad dash. But for now, I’ll continue to enjoy my 2018 with a proper “analog” round dial traditional instrument cluster. Well said! Recently got a 2024 GT Premium and never looked back! The Ecoboost is the reasonable choice and all that was said is the double truth. However, all you have to do is see that 5.0 Badge and you just know it is something different.

As always it's about what your pocketbook can stand and your application of the car. To answer your question, I feel great about my purchase! It has been everything I hoped for. Mine is a daily driver so the combination of 486HP, GT Premium, and the active exhaust is perfect. It will not disappoint and leave you wanting. The Ecoboost is a cool car but it isn't a MUSTANG MUSCLE CAR! However, with that said, not all that long ago, 300hp was a big deal. You will always look at the GTs going by and sigh. I use my Active Exhaust all the time! The Performance Package adds some things but is not as easy a daily driver as mine. If you care, the Ecoboost is auto transmission ONLY. Mine is an auto. Enjoy your choice and let me know what you get. I am thrilled with mine and it exceeds my old Trans Am that I bought new in '79!

You're huffing gas. The Ecoboost is a low to mid 5 0-60. Road and Track numbers were archived with a much stickier tire that this car doesn't come on from the factory.

It’s a really good engine, in any other car. but every mustang eco boost owner I’ve ever met has started the conversation with, i didn’t want a v8 mustang because….., They tell you, it’s almost as fast at GT, lighter front end, fuel consumption, with lots of tweaks it’s almost as fast as a v8 etc etc etc. but no one has ever dreamt of owning a 4 banger mustang. It’s the same as boxster drivers, they start with I didn’t want a 911 because….. Be honest, it’s because they are just cheaper in all regards. But no one really wants the cheaper version of anything.

I get what you're saying, truly because I have been in both. From a male under 25 pov, the ecoboost gives the look and the style of a mustang without insurance costing an arm and a leg. The V8 is faster, sounds better, and overall truly is the muscle car. The Ecoboost was made for people like me who have wanted a mustang for a long time. It's cheaper, better on gas, and is still peppy. That's all I really want.

I was saying having the option of a manual is better than not having the option, not that everyone should drive manual. 2.Having driven both, I can tell you that the V8 is WAYY faster. (I’m not sure where you’re getting .3 seconds from). My EcoBoost ran low-to-mid 5’s to 60 mph when it was stock, whereas the GT run somewhere in the low 4’s to high 3’s range. 3. Gas prices aren’t the car’s fault. It sounds like you have more of a Southern California problem than a V8 problem. A diesel truck isn’t bad at being a truck because it’s expensive to fill up.

I've had an '18 eco and now own a '20 gt premium. I like the ecoboost. The power comes on right away. The gt actually has a very top end motor. From a dig, it's underwhelming. That being said, once that 5.0 catches the eco, and it won't take that long, the eco has no chance. I'm reading that 0-60 time is for a manual gt. The 10 speed is 3.9, 3.8 with performance pack. I still think the eco is a fun car and you have to look at it as it would beat an old 4.6. I think that's cool.

I considered buying a new Mustang for my wife (she has a 2004 and 2011 now) but after talking to several connections with Ford Motorsports plus a couple of Ford mechanics i know i will have to pass for now. They all agreed that this turbo 4cyl is basically a hand grenade with the pin half way pulled .Basically Ford is having to push so much boost through this thing to get that horsepower that they are basically blowing the cylinder head off the motor. The same combo is also available in Ford pickups but with less horsepower and is reliable mainly because boost levels are lower. I have talked with 3 different Ford Dealers here in Georgia about a new Mustang and all goes well until i ask about the engine warranty and if extended warranties are available and then they clam up and start making all kinds of excuses. Bring back the v6 and i will buy one but until they fix this 4cyl grenade i will look elsewhere.

It’s an in-line 4. My 2018 is my daily driver, and yes it was 10k less than a GT. As a daily driver, you aren’t missing much as far as performance goes. Unless you track your car, the car is much more livable with a 6-speed manual than the GT, especially when driving in the city.

Mustang-where have you gone? No more manual gauges replaced by a Nintendo Gameboy Dash. No manual transmission. Electric steering with no feel. The Magneride seems great for the suspension and I will say this the car is a looker. But that's it. when you get the sports package, comfort package ect you are in the high 40's for this car. With that kind of money simply much better choices-Civic Type R, Subaru WRX Tr, Golf R, GR Corolla, a Base 4 cylinder Supra. For a few thousand more even the Integra Type S. All of these other choices are more engaging to drive than a 4 Cylinder Mustang Ecoboost.
