Only used your RE videos but I ended up going from a grade 2 to 9 in it by using these as literally my only revision method watching the videos the night before and making flashcards to remember the sources of authority so thanks for these videos

@@nkhan2074 Aww thank you😅 Here are some tips, i’ll break these down into learning the content and good exam habits. I know the message is a bit long but i really wanted to help😅
@JoannaM007
@JoannaM007 Ай бұрын
@@nkhan2074 Part One: Good Exam Habits: Here’s your scenario….. You just entered Y11 and GCSEs are a few months away, you’re starting to feel the pressure and you need to start cracking down…what do you do? It’s time to take a step back from social media and the TV🥲 GCSEs are really important exams so it is important that you establish your priorities and make sure distractions do not limit your attainment. For me this meant taking a step back from Instagram and watching recreational youtube. It’s time to feed your brain with edifying content🙃🙃. When I did want a break, I spent my time reading or watching educational YT channels (e.g NileRed❤️, Veritasium, Steve Mould) because it helped me ‘read around’ (or rather watch around😅) my subjects in a way that was fun and relaxing. Thinking Forwards: What next? When you do start your exams, it is important to always be ‘thinking forwards’. This is focusing on what you do next, do not use your crucial time worrying about what happened in the previous exam, focus on how you can put your all in your next one. For example, Physics paper 1 was very rough for me, therefore i knew i had to smash paper 2 to do my best, but i had to focus on my next exam, so i thought forwards, recognising i did my best so that i did not let that one negative experience affect me in the rest of my exams. Revising for current and future exams: For managing for revision for paper 1, 2 and 3 exams, I recommend this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lYCQioZro96Nbc0si=5CyfVXY6-mf1-Uoh You have to make sure that whist you are deeply focusing your closest exams, you are also briefly checking up on your paper 2/3 knowledge to make sure they don’t jump scare you. You can do this by doing practice questions from PMT, or exam warmups from youtube or watching revision videos. Deeper P2 and 3 revision can be done during the half term before the 2nd half of exams. This is where you’ll want to patch up any rusty/ missing knowledge and leverage exam practice. It’s like driving, you look forwards the road (exam) ahead of you, however you occasionally glance in your rear view mirror to check what’s is coming from behind you (your future exams). Henry Brand: Amazing for motivation and exam tips from an A* student🙃 Part Two: English Literature- For English Lit I strongly recommend Jen Chan’s yt videos, I wish I discovered her earlier, but she is amazing and I know my literal 1 day of finding her videos helped me get an 8 in English Lit. She really gives you an in depth and analysis of texts, especially the poems. I also recommend Mr Bruff to develop an overall understanding of the poems and Mr Salles to add some layers, however I believe most analysis is developed through you spending time to read the texts and seeing what stands out. Scrooge = Sg E.g my gate-kept (😂) analysis of ACC where Sg’s walls were ‘opaque’ showing his ostracisation of himself from society and the plights of the poor which linked to the ‘open country road’ (urban = money, Sg transitions to rural where there is no money) where he began to change: “Why did his cold eye glisten, and his heart leap up as they went past!" he’s literally thawing guys😅❄️. Mind maps are useful for trying to expand your ideas. Blow up those quotes😅 You can use flash cards to help remember quotes. And the day before the exam I recommend trying to write the highest quality paragraphs ever, also use the phrases: “at first glance…upon further inspection” because the examiners eat it up😂. No 🧇 GCSEs exemplary answers really show you how you can communicate your ideas in a clear and professional way. English Language- For me, I believe developing your skills for En Lang comes from practice. You should work on developing your vocabulary ( i recommend the app: Vocabulary which teaches you new words). Also make sure you are secure with grammar rules and sentence structures. Use fronted adverbials and subordinate clauses because they give you both A05 (from expansion of ideas) and A06 marks🙃 Maths- The GCSE Maths Tutor is amazing for learning content, also do his hardest exam questions playlists to challenge yourself. And don’t forget about Loci 😅, it hasn’t come up in like 5yrs. Do lots of past papers becasue this is where you’ll do the most effective preparation. Also Maths Genie is great for practice and 1st Class Maths has amazing predicted papers. Also, do not misuse predicted papers, to be honest, no one can predict the papers so don’t lean on them, just use them to get practice. The Sciences- All you need is Free Science Lessons, he follows the specification so closely😂 Do not forget about the Working Scientifically topic, it comes up all the time. Practice papers are your besties and do these under timed conditions. Also, use the mark scheme to get accurate definitions and accurate solutions to the practical questions. Learning your practicals is really important because most of the exam is based around their practical applications and their calculations. Geography- Tutor2U and No Waffle GCSE are the best youtube channel ever for Geography, T2U goes into the content in so much depth however and No 🧇 GCSE really breaks the content down so well where you understand it. Past paper questions are essential. Know your case studies + a few figures (figures show the examiners you know your studies well), find ways to add your case studies in for extended Qs 4-9 markers because they show your broader knowledge of their applications. I feel I cannot emphasise this in words but know those CASE STUDIES. RE- Ben Wardle is so good for RE, he breaks the concepts down so well. Practice questions are important. I recommend these structure for answering the questions, it is simple but checks off that mark scheme. Q1- Just a tick box, know the Islamic terms e.g ‘Adalat’ as they usually use these. Q2- It is a ‘give’ question, so no need for explanations, just 2 simple questions. Q3- This is an explain question so: (make a point, give your explanation and a small expansion) x2 Q4- Same as Q3 but add a quote, the small expansion secures your 5th mark e.g making a link to another religious principle. Q5- Make a point, explain it, add a quote, explain the relevance/significance of the quote (what does it tell us, why this supports your point), link back to your point e.g. hence Christians believe that………) Do this 4 times. Then add a conclusion where you summarise the arguments, then give your opinion and a short reason why. e.g. Personally, I believe that Christmas is the most important Christian celebration because if Jesus had not come to earth, then Christians would have no hope of salvation through Christs’ death and resurrection. Computer Science- I love the OCR Computer Science purple workbook so much, it really helped me understand the content. Craig ‘n’ Dave are the best for Cs because they follow the spec so closely and make the content seem less daunting. Seneca is free and really good for making sure you get the content secured and is great for practice questions. Past papers are your best friend and make sure you look at the mark scheme because the examiners are really sensitive when it comes to vocabulary so make sure you are using key words in every answer because these unlock the marks. Make sure you know a High-Level Programming Language and Pseudocode (OCR ref language) well for paper 2 and get your trace tables locked down. French- No 🧇 GCSE’s French videos are amazing✨ Learn the tenses because using tenses unlock the higher end of the mark scheme for you. Look at the mark scheme because they show you what the examiners are looking for. Her Grade 9 speaking responses are really great because they show you how to unlock the marks scheme using the knowledge she gives you in her grammar, phrases and tenses videos. You can also modify and use some of the phrases in your own speaking and writing exams.
