2024 Genesis GV60
Intriguing, electric and no, it’s not a Bentley.
Throughout my week in the 2024 Genesis GV60 I was asked many times ‘What is that?’, ‘Are you reviewing Bentley’s now?’, ‘Who makes Genesis?’, and ‘What does that crystal ball do?’ This tells me a few things such as Genesis is still not a household car brand name despite being around since 2015. Secondly, the GV60 has a unique, appealing style that attracts attention. And finally, hiring a Bentley designer as you launch a new brand is mostly a good thing… other than consumers mixing up the two. More on the crystal ball later.
The GV60 is Genesis’ first dedicated electric vehicle that shares components with its cousins that are also built on the E-GMP Platform, the Hyundai IONIQ5 and Kia EV6. It has a style all its own that blends performance and luxury. It is a five-passenger compact crossover with a coupe-like roofline. It is available in three trims known as Standard, Advanced, and Performance. Standard models are rear-wheel drive, offer 225 horsepower, have an EPA-estimated 294 miles of range, and start at $52,000. Advanced models are all wheel drive, deliver 314 horsepower, have an EPA-estimated range of 248 miles, and start at $60,550. Finally, the Performance model is all wheel drive, delivers 429 - 483 horsepower (thanks to Boost Mode), has an EPA-estimated range of 235 miles, and starts at $69,550. It’s available in 11 exterior colors, five interior colors, innovative technology, standard driver assist features, and fast charging ability. I spent a week in a Hanauma Mint AWD Performance model that checked in at $71,320.
Final Statement
The GV60 is yet another Genesis vehicle that I have wanted to keep around longer. It is a premium vehicle with a lot of impressive technology (whether it’s needed is up to you). I was particularly impressed by the power and performance of the GV60. It was a smooth and refined vehicle to drive on my day trip and I learned that stopping for a recharge boost wasn’t as bad as I anticipated, although range anxiety is real for a round trip such as mine. Genesis continues to deliver modern luxury vehicles with a twist and head-turning style.
