I have a 2021 crewcab Z71 RST 3.0 4x4 standard bed. I'm averaging 30+ mpg & 700 miles to a tank. (Highway miles).. d.e.f usage minimal and zero mechanical issues. 10spd transmission shifts smooth & is super quiet on the highway. Throttle response is great & low end torque is strong. I paid 52k new & have zero regrets. Plan on purchasing a yukon with the 3.0 baby duramax for my wife. LM2 motor is a beast & I'm at 46k miles so far....

Damn you’re lucky I traded my 19 ZR2 Dmax for a 22 Sierra AT4 3.0 and I get about 310 miles per tank I’m getting like 11-15 in toy and 18-19 on the highway But mine has a 6” lift and 37s But I’m not sure if the MPG reading is accurate since the odometer and speedometer are off due to the larger tires I’m still looking for a recalibration kit

Thoughts on the 3.0 vs 5.3 for a DD hoping to maximize longevity? I love the idea of the torque and mileage on the 3.0 but worry it may be more problematic/expensive to repair down the road than the 5.3. How do you like/compare them vs a non-hybrid tundra?
@CTECH-REVIEW8 ай бұрын
I like the new Tundra Twin turbo V6. Good power and fuel economy. 5.3 is tough to beat from a track record of long term durability, but the new 3.0 seems to addressed a lot of the earlier concerns like timing belt and oil consumption/leaks. Thats a tough question, I could go either way. I think I would trust the 5.3 a little more for long term durability than the 3.0 or the Tundra twin turbo.
@ThunderRunner8 ай бұрын
@@CTECH-REVIEW interesting…whether or not the lifter issues are overblown in the gm v8’s, I think the repair and/or replacement costs are significantly less than some other engines like the tundra’s ttv6…think it probably plays into the long term reliability is also repair-ability. Downside of the 6.2 is more likely engine failure and you have to run premium fuel for the 11.2 compression. 20 bucks more a tank to get slightly worse mpg.

I agree! I don't think a 4 cylinder should be in a half ton American truck at all, turbo or no turbo! Seems the 3.0 diesel is a way better choice(at 28+mpg) unless you prefer v8 power then it's 5.3 for it's long existence & 'reliability'. I'm not a GM guy, nor a 1\2 ton guy but I'd pick the Duramax in a GMC truck.

@@tdotw77 Statistically the 2.7 4 cylinder is having much less issues then the 5.3 due to the lifter issues with the AFM/DFM system. The 2.7t with it's DOHC layout activates the AFM off the camshaft vs the 5.3 using collapsible hydraulic lifters.
