When the murphy bed is in the bed position, it looks like it interferes with the recliner on the left and maybe cannot open the recliner. Is that the case or does it clear it so that if someone is in bed, then both recliners can recline?

You are correct, the one recliner cannot recline when bed is down. I have a 2021 model and that is the #1 neg of this model. Some people remove the middle part of the seats and move that recliner over and then it can be used when the bed is down.
