in the final game SoO depended on spending all his ressources on his attack to make it work after the early game damage by those reapers. This left him vulnerable and Maru exploited that. If SoO had been a bit more lucky with positioning and had defended vs one of those medivacs his attack could've worked with more reinforcement.

Maru's been well established as the #2 player in the world for a long time. Another GSL trophy won't change that. If Maru wins the whole thing again for the zillionth time, how much of that shine is worn off by the fact he got skunked so hard by Serral in Dallas AND Katowice this year? Maybe he should finally focus on beating the one guy in the world that consistently stands in his way. How much does this other stuff even matter anymore?

⁠I think like in any sports, there’s a home advantage and an away disadvantage. So long as Maru is coming second in European tournaments and Serrano hasn’t won a Korean tournament you can’t say he has better cross-region results.

Everyone who actually looks at the stats and gameplay knows Serral is not the goat. Serral benefits from the most advantaged race. The eye test also shows Maru is far more technically skilled as well. Zergs have won 65% of all premier tournaments since 2017. Thats more than Terran and Protoss COMBINED. Serral just happens to be the best player playing the best race.

Everybody get kicked around by Serral. I think Serral won every tournament he played since 2023. The only time he lost was to Clem and world team league.
