This is the first review I've seen of the P500 that shows in detail how good this bakkie is. Putting the Chinese stigma aside and reviewing the bakkie like any other bakkie. A good option, very impressive safety features. Much respect for the review it was very informative. Slap on some off road tyres and you're good to go. Great review🤜🤛

This company should partner with Cummings for that 2.8L diesel engine. It would be a win.

It's the 7 years/200 000 km and the details inside the car. I don't think these bakkies are for racing like the Raptor. I think another unspoken worry is the accessories for the car...

The tyres play a huge role in protecting the rims when you off-road, the bigger the better But not sure where it’s assembled, locally assembled bakkies like the Hilux, Ranger & Dmax cannot be toppled by imports, pricing will always play a huge factor But for tech car lovers it might sell Nice review though 🎉

Brilliant review. Fair review and it looks beautiful. Is it bigger than the Ranger and Toyota size wise?

Don’t know why South African Bakkie manufacturers didn’t adopt this tailgate design years ago when the Americans pioneered it on their full size “trucks”. It makes so much more sense to load. But I doubt this is a durable loadbed. My ranger based BT50’s tailgate and loadbed was so soft while my triton which did all the same work for more that 10 years longer was still new. That is for those of us that ACTUALLY use a bakkie’s capability regularly. When towing and off-roading you need Torque, not power. Torque is king. I might have missed it but what is the fuel (actual) consumption like. I expect it to be Range Rover v8 heavy

Which are south african bakkie manufacturers?
@seanfenwick16 күн бұрын
@ we manufacture the Ford Ranger, VW Amarok, Toyota hilux, Nissan Navara & Isuzu Dmax, soon SA will manufacture the Peugeot Landtrek, Mahindra bakkies and if we are lucky maybe another one soon. So what don’t we make here?
@freshsouth202416 күн бұрын
@seanfenwick are we not assembling those in mamelodi, Rosslyn, eastern cape etc?
@seanfenwick15 күн бұрын
@@freshsouth2024 nope, all of them are pressed here by companies like MA, Ford have their engine plant in Struandale, mouldings and such all done here. Maybe not all internally at the companies but close by. Chassis and most pressed components all done in house. Mitsubishi used to be manufactured here as well and might be again. Toyota engines are imported now I think. It’s a mix and match of various imported parts and local production. Our local steel industry relies on all the steel press work to survive. So it is far reaching, if we continue to buy Chinese you will see this all stop and SA will lose a well over 40000 jobs directly and close to 1million jobs in total. They have to do better. Stellantis is setting up an assembly line and so is Mahindra but with that will be quite a bit of pressing work and steel supply locally, not to mention plastic and soft moulding locally. So it really is a mix of local manufacturing and imported parts. What bugs me is how we used to be a major component exporter in the 2000’s to barely anything now. SA was the largest catalytic converter manufacturer in the world 2004-2012. The whole political agenda of selling off materials to China to be made into value added item for us to buy back at higher costs is hurting us now when we could have made the components ourselves locally. I happen to have worked in the industry since 1997 and still do to a degree. There isn’t a single manufacturer who makes everything in house, so technically every vehicle manufacturer is an assembler to a degree. For instance, ZF are making pretty much the same gearbox for BMW, Merc, Ford, Lexus, GWM, Hyundai etc. brakes in SA mostly made by girlock and auto industrial, clutches by Luk and ZF Sachs. Which all have plants here.

Ya neh so many options on bakkies. I think GWM didn’t opt for 20s because the ride off-road and over bad roads will be harsh and then that won’t make it ideal For this money im still buying a preowned navara or Dmax or maybe both if I’m lucky 😂 Market is very Saturated yor How is the turbo lag im sport though?

The wheels won't be an issues. The first thing serious bakkie lovers do is throw away the tires aways and fit in aftermarket accessories.
