Idk if it's as bad elsewhere in Europe but a major problem with Honda is their pricing. Toyota has rather expensive starting prices for their cars here in Finland, but Honda is way worse. HR-V starts at 37,000€. No wonder they only sold 200 cars last year to Toyota's 14 thousand (or Nissans 2,6 thousand). Honda makes good cars but they are way too expensive for what they are right now, I remember seeing Civics everywhere in the early 2000's, now I don't see any new Hondas which is no wonder since they sell even less than Subaru and Lexus.

Somehow, in my country, it costs the same as a much more premium Mazda CX60 with a straight 6 3.3 litre diesel and the same as a larger Hyundai Palisade. It costs 25% more than the equivalent Tiguan, Sportage etc. It can't be justified. Hondas used to be all over the roads but these days I barely see one. Their pricing strategy is out of control. They're pricing like they're a premium car maker but they're not and neither are their engines and drive trains. I don't get it.

@SDav216 ай бұрын
@@CeejaaySnow Their pricing is maybe justifiable in the US and Canada where it isn't 30% more than a Rav4 or Mazda CX5 both of which are equally, if not more, reliable. You can't compare the CRV to a Mercedes, BMW or Audi. It isn't close to that level in terms of drivetrains, suspension components or technology. And it most certainly isn't justifiable being the same price as a much more premium Mazda CX60 with a straight 6 diesel and it is much smaller than a Hyundai Palisade and Kia Telluride. For the rest of the world, the Honda is over priced. It's price is therefore not justified and that's why Honda is fading into irrelevance everywhere else in the world. Their cars are not competitive enough to warrant an extra 30% more than it's direct competitors from Toyota, Mazda, VW, Hyundai and Kia.

As a total outsider, I would guess that the EU market has the highest amount of accountability and maybe liability/exposure. I’m referring directly to environmental, safety and social exposures companies face when engaging the EU market. Which is good but it is not free. No doubt it is more complicated but we’re not going to peal back those layers in a comments section.

For the same cost as the entry level bare-bones version here in Sweden, you could get a certified preowned facelift 4th gen Lexus RX 450h that’s fully loaded (incl. Carplay/android auto), comes with winter tyres, and that has 6-8 years of extended warranty left. Sure the used Lexus might have run for 50000-100000 kms, but considering that the extended warranty covers up to 200000 km and that the old Lexus/Toyota V6 easily runs for 400000 km, it’s not a big concern. In the Nordic market the CR-V is simply a poor value proposition, which is a pity as it’s a much nicer looking car compared to the RAV4.

I replaced my 2020 mk5 CRV with a 2023 Volvo XC60, I did not like the mk6 CRV in the test drive it felt pretty much the same as my mk5 but noisier and heavier it did not feel any bigger inside and the reverse camera quality was unacceptable it was poor on the mk5 I expected an improvement and I did not feel an improvement in the quality of the build vs the large price increase I did not like the rear light clusters either on the mk5 they were full led turn signals on the mk6 halogen bulbs I do not understand why Honda did this, the Volvo is a better car in everyway and the interior is a different class to the Honda but the same price almost.

Where do you live? I asked XC60 new offer compared to CRV and Volvo was 7k EUR higher than Honda. That was with Honda highest package vs Volvo Mid trim and not the highest. Volvo was missing panoramic roof, heads up display that Honda had it all. Granted Volvo has better engine and quieter in high speeds but fuel economy is way worse especially in city speeds. Volvo price category with same extras as Honda is just another league. Same with Lexus, premium price tag for bit comfy ride. I agree about tailgate turn signals arent best looking for Honda, but its still better than Sportage, or Kodiaq.

Honda Europe is infamous for their marketing blunders. One of the worst blunders was to ignore the leasing market.
@ego45516 ай бұрын
Because Honda costs the same as Audi. For the price of a CR-V you could buy a Q5 without sacrificing that many options. Meanwhile Skoda, VW etc. are a lot cheaper.

nah, I don't believe what you say about consumption. It's clear ti me that you are treating each car like a sports car. You left it in sport, you constantly accelerates, you did 0-100, which is the stupidest test all reviewers do. People that buy this car don't care about 0-100 and driving in sport. You can easily get under 6/100 in the city (!) which no german SUV of this size can match.
@autogefuehl2 ай бұрын
The acceleration part is the most watched part in every driving part, analytics dont lie, people want to see this with priority in every review no matter for which car - thus we show what the viewers want to see. I agree that the acceleration is not the most important thing with a family car, thats why we stress the space and flexibility of these vehicles in the static interior part. For the consumption figure we take out the acceleration part and zero the consumption meter in most times, unless we drive a very very long way where it can be included without being a huge bias. We did the same here. The consumption figure we showed is a realistic one and I had a similar result with the previous version. A German SUV can match this figure or can be better with a Diesel. Even better is the Toyota Hybrid system, and my point was that the Honda Hybrid system is rather complicated but at the same time it doesnt deliver more than a traditinal hybrid system like Toyota is using, rather less. If you are happy with your CRV hybrid, great, not saying the car is bad, I love it for the space concept and the user interface, my point was just that at the grade of complexity of this hybrid system, the result is not worth the effort.

Don't buy honda. I'm owner of civic latest model. Starting from 2021 honda has sticky steering issues and honda not able to fix it. It's security and comfort issue. The issue appears most of the time after 10K kilometers, so be aware and think 10 times before buy it. Some replaced steering rack for several times and every time the issue come back. Now honda dealers and honda do not replace anything and leave it as it is.

In my country Volvo XC60 PHEV cost nearly 70k euros (low spec model). CR-V is very well equipped as standard and 10-15k cheaper. Volvo has a lot of power but it's hybrid technology is poor compared to Honda. For example consumption and gearbox. Honda do not have a gearbox at all.

@@tkr7100 True. Honda same package (higest possible) vs Volvo mid package in Estonia is around 7k higher price. Its not even funny. If i add same extras for XC60 im looking like Q5 price with a lot extras. Mby in Sweden Volvo can sell cheaper but not in my country. A lot are bringing used Volvos from Sweden because highest package costs like half lambo here as new :D
