We got one two years ago (after a year on the waitlist) and freaking love it for around town - it's impossible to take yourself too seriously on any Honda Trail. It's not perfect but damn near close.

I owned a 86 CT110 for a few yrs and it was great in the desert for what i do, I nugget detect with detectors, a gun rack on the front bars and I was ready to go. The CT125 Trail seems similar build, not overly needing the hi/lo trans, for dirt backroads of Nevada, only thing lacking is no knobbies for decent offroad use. Just street tires, but that can be easily remedied. I am thinking of making the plunge.

Unique indeed! 🙌 Not to take anything away from any of the other 7 (which are all fantaaastic motorcycles in their own right), but it's the CT / Trail 125 for me - ideal runaround, daily, weekender and camping vehicle, yet still pulls wheelies, dirt inexpensive (I'm choosing not to use the word "cheap" here), costs almost nothing to insure, is incredibly light on fuel and even able to tackle the Dalton Highway. So easy to service that even I could do it - annual service takes about 30 minutes. Top speed's not an issue - I'm 6'2" and 230lb and my Chinese knock-off version of the Super Cub (a 107cc with drums all round, both kick and electric starter, a bench seat, analogue speedo, a headlight of maayyybe 1 candlepower, a 352lb weight limit, the same 4-spd semi automatic transmission, yet with a gear indicator, and the 1 gallon fuel tank was good for 3-4 days of commuting - an absolute champ at the pumps!) that I bought new in 2007 for about $850 cruised reasonably comfortably at 55-65 and saw 75 with a full tuck, but found it happiest at 35-45. In fact, my XR125 had a lower top speed and I could only coax it up to 60. That thing went everywhere (highways, down staircases, fire roads and even the beach - young and dumb) and saw about 50k miles of hard living over 5 years before I retired it (with the original battery and only 1 flat tyre). They're nigh-indestructible. It was my first and only vehicle at the time, and watching this video makes me miss it even more. The "Harley shifting" is something to get used to (you do in about 10 minutes) and rather cool, so even though it's a semi automatic, you can still rev match when downshifting 😎 Don't rev it out, shifting is happiest at low rpms. Rev matching is not required on down shifts - just shift normally, but don't do it at too high a speed. Mine was stock (bar the factory top box I got thrown in, but spent $0 on mods) and it went up and over mountain passes easily - third gear's tall enough, though you're not going anywhere in a hurry; and plan ahead (I cannot stress this enough) for every single overtake. Fun fact - when you're stationary and in 4th gear, you could shift up into N and up again into 1st; I wonder if this bike can do it, too. I like the solo seat, would've looove it instead of the bench seat I had - the bench seat and what was probably the smallest platform in the history of the world behind the seat made it almost impossible to fit anything other than the factory top box, but I attached a milk crate onto the back of my XR and all of a sudden I had a trunk 😂 Nice truck 👍 Long comment is due to a big love for the machine.

Id buy that also. Call it a 250 ill own both. Keep them parked together a 125 4 speed and a 250 😂 6 speed. That crf300 engine is a 276cc. I saw some peoole they said the adv160 engine might also be another option that will probably fit bettet than the 300 motor in tbe 125 paclaye. The rebel 300 crf300 motor is actually a little chunky of a motor comapred to the 125 i think thed have to scale the 125 uo a hair to be able to accept the 300 size. The adv 160 powerplant isnt a bad idea either. Im not a big cvt guy though. But i gey why they like the adv 160 its top speed is impressive for what it is.

The back rack is for a chicken coop! I don't think of it as a motorcycle. It's a 'motor-bike'. Goes anywhere. Tougher than it looks, durable, and super reliable. Unbelievable gas mileage. Loads of fun. Kinda cramped for taller riders.My legs need to be stretched after a hour or so. Can be slow, but when adventuring I like to go slow, I see more. It does go 50 mph, and it's thrilling to do so, but really 35-40 is my sweet spot on this for road travel. Maybe 15-25mph on the trails or dirt roads. Kinda pricey,but remember: It Just Keeps Going. Maybe forever. It's everything good and weird about Honda motorcycles in one cool little package.

I think a lot of these reviewers like to say "why get this rather than this other bike?" For me, I like it because no other new bike looks like it. Same with the super cub. I'm not getting this bike because it performs spectacularly, I'm getting one becasue I want the super cub or trail specifically.

I rode one of these and pegged it was doing 62mph. Cruised at 55 pretty easily. I know our weight has a lot to do with it. Also kind of strange to suggest buying a cheaper bike, then putting parts on it that will end up making it more expensive than this lol

The farther i go into break in the faster mine goes. At first it struggled to hit 50 and now at 150 miles it pulls to 50 pretty good and it climbs up to 51 52 53 when before it really on flay ground with 10 miles on the clock it struggled to get to 50m im hoping after about th nfirst 1000 miles everything will settle in a little itll be impressive ifnit csn hit 55 and hopd it because then i could take the fast road into town if i wanted.

I’m a long time Honda fan, and I love the 70’s , and 80’s bikes. I have a nicely restored 1970 Monkey sitting in my garage right now. That being said the Trail 125 wins big on nostalgia, but it kinda fails every where else. In todays market which includes decent inexpensive Chinese duel sports paying $5000.00 plus for a glorified moped is a tuff sell in my opinion.
@JacobWillits2 ай бұрын
Chinese stuff is junk if you buy that junk to save a buck i dont feel bad for you. You should go live in china if you think their bikes are worth it even at their low prices.
@TheAnnoyingBossАй бұрын
The chinese junk only costs less because they strategically cut every meaningful corner that matters bro. 5k is steep for a 125 but i disagree after having the bike for a week i think the overall package matters. Getting ked all around, skid pate, heel toe shift, fuel injected, metal fender, high lift snorkle air intake. High up exhuast. Rack raised bars, 125mpg. 8 dollars a month insurance. A year warrented from honda. That matters bro. I spend the same 5k on a 15 year old accord i dont get a warentee i dont get led all around i get 6x worse mpg 5x more insurance cost and 5x as much oil at oil change time bro. And its not even trail rated. The chinese junk they cut corners you get cheap china halogen blinkers youre actually overpaying fkrnthat garbage even if the bike is hakf the cost its half the quality infact less if you ask me. You can get xr150 for less you csn get some old used bikes for 3k sure bro but yeah honda warentee? Kickstart? 125 mpg? Skid plate? High up Snorkle air intake? Heel toe shift? Trail rated? Luggage rack? Its nit a bad bike i paid 4950 to me it was steep id have rather oaid 3500 but also resale value in 5 years ill sell it for 3750 3500 and my loss will be low. The chinese junk you pay 3k instead of 5 butnits a corner cutting scam job dude in 5 years youll have a hard time selling it you will be luxky if anyone wants it at all for 1k youll actually lose more. Stop acting like chinese garbage even comes close to competing with this bro, in the segment.

I'm considering this bike as I do not like a traditional clutch. I prefer an automatic because it gives me more of an opportunity to pay attention without having something extra to think about. I'm curious if you know whether any of HONDA's other bikes are also automatic. It seems I can only fine information on the Trail 125 being the only automatic.

I’ve had a CT90, and a CT110. That said, this machine needs a bigger motor. It’s too slow and underpowered for modern roads, there’s absolutely no power reserve if needed. You will be holding up traffic, with larger vehicles tailgating you in frustration. Come on Honda, give us more power!

They had it right the first time on the CT 90 and the CT 110.Thats what made it such a great bike.dont fix it if it isn't broke.That being said they should build one in the 200 cc vertion with extra gears.and after the CT 90 and 110.it would have a top speed of 65 to 70 miles an hour and if they wanted to take it a steep farther they could go upto 300cc and have a very highway capable trail bike with the 300L motor.it would break all the records like the CT 90 and the CT 110 did and leave the two 200 behind in all catagories.for the larger people.
