Great review. You confirmed exactly the reason why I swapped from the Ionic 5 Lounge AWD 2022 to the Kona Electric Premium 2024. Almost all the features the Ionic has, but smaller car and bigger range.

We love our new 2024 Kona Electric, we actually bought it here in Kona (Kailua-kona, Hawaii, USA). Love everything about the car, the only thing I miss is our SEL trim lacks V2L. On the other hand, the SEL, normally us$40k, was only $33k because of major sales incentives, an amazing deal.

I've seen lots of the 2024 Kona EV , here in the UK. Having seen your review i must say i found it superior in many ways. No time wasting and pretty well all the features covered. The V2L in the rear is standard here. I'm soon to take delivery of the base model with the comfort pack of heated seats and s/wheel. 17" which give a supposed 10% additional range. I'll keep an eye on follow up videos. Good work.

Hey from Montreal. No 800v system and no awd is the only thing holding me back. It literally has everything we need. But those are still game breakers. Quick charge and the foot of snow we got yesterday is a real deal for winter.

As a former owner of a 2020 Kona EV, it's good that Hyundai bumped up the charging rate but it's still well behind and should have been a 150KW rate on its 400V battery. Otherwise, it's a good EV. Current owner of the 2022 Ioniq 5, AWD, LR w Ultimate package.

Don't know if you've heard yet Brian. But your buddies over at motormouth have found case #2 with an ioniq 5 battery, and they have raced to make yet another video. It is becoming so obvious that this is personal for them. And I can honestly say that I love the fact that they are doing this. Because it is putting hyundai on their toes, making sure that they come up with a solution. And it's going to help lower the cost of the ioniq 5 for those that still want one. As I stated in the comment section of the other video, they are allowing themselves to become defined by what they don't live vs. what they do. This is how people begin to hate bond. We see it all the time in politics. You hate that person. Come over here. Let's talk because I hate them too. You can't stand those people come over here. Let's talk because I can't stand them either. The sad part is that most of the time, it starts off as a small dislike. But, when people begin to make things personal. Then, small dislikes grow into an entire identity. My advice to you, Brian is to keep doing great reviews. At the end of the day, if you don't like something, don't buy it. Nobody said that E.Vs are for everyone. But, when you bring your politics into the equation and make it a conservative issue, then it becomes personal.

Hyundai Canada has now changed their policy so the dealer no longer even has access to battery pricing and any potential non warranty battery issues have to go through them not the dealer. Not sure if people know that.

Great that is the right car to review, we have a 2023 Tesla Model Y Long range AWD (Fremont build) for our road tripper, but our daily driver 2020 Kia Soul EV Limtied is getting close to 100K KM this would be the car to look at even with my last Hyundai issue with my 2023 Ioniq 5 not fast charging for almost 7 months. Always love the Hyundai / Kai brand our Soul keeps on going, only the 12 volt battery (which was a poor quality cheap lead acid), we put a decent AGM Battery 3 years ago it keeps on going). The fact is does battery preconditioning has a great charging rate for this older platform, what is not to like especially with all that space in this new design. Love to see if the route planing has auto charging stop routing with arrival state of charge, length required to leave etc.

So this is a nice car. Just "built" a limited like this model on Hyundai website (US) that came out to about 43k. That is the problem. I can build a standard range Model 3 for just under 39k with more range, nicer interior, faster charging, and Tesla charging infrastructure. If I wanted to go to 45k I can get extended range all-wheel drive. If this Kona were 35k I'd consider it. It's basically a fancy Chevrolet Bolt for 10g more.
@irenecheca657510 ай бұрын
Hum, not where I am, Tesla extended range is about 7k more even taking discounts into account and with dealers marked up, bolt is only 2k cheaper with almost half the boot size, it is more up to priorities, plus there is access to Tesla chargers in early 2025 for Hyundai.

Extending the size, in overall length and rear leg room, for 2024 was a poor decision. It goes against its purpose as a small car. The originally smaller size was perfect for segments mentioned: singles, couples, couples with small kids, and even four adults for short rides. (If one needs more space, one buys a larger model, i.e., Ioniq 5.)
