Had my ioniq 5 n line s a few weeks now in matte white and absolutely love it, best car ive had by a country mile. Just some pointers, you can drop the rear seats from the boot via a button if you didn't test the cheapest model. Also the boot is quite a bit bigger than the ev6 and you can slide the rear seats forward to make the boot enormous and still have rear leg room, you also store the rear load cover behind the seats. You made several other false statements but not going on with an essay. Cars should be reviewed by people who have used them in a daily life capacity for at least a few weeks

If you are going to claim that DC chargers with >50kW power are "rare" and then show that charging with a 50kw charger takes an hour, it would be worthwhile to quantify what "rare" means. There are ~6,500 DC chargers in the UK with >150kw of power, and they are increasing in number very quickly. In the next 6 months I expect this to exceed 8,500*, which is the number of petrol stations in the UK. Are petrol stations also rare? *Number of150kw+ chargers in UK: 2024 YTD: ~6,500 2023: 3,850 2022: 1,750 2021: 1,000

@@ronrubble I don’t think they are that rare anymore either. I use rapid chargers when I drive from the North West to London and back and there plenty of 350kw Gridserve and 150kw Apple Green chargers. They are not cheap, but since I do about 80% of my charging at home on an overnight EV tariff, I can live with the prices. I am guessing that this particular reviewer has not been to Rugby services or one of the other services which have 12+ Applegreen chargers or 6+ Gridserve chargers. I think he needs to get Zapmap.

Well original model Y has poor build quality. But the recent models are built much better. All non fremont US models are built extremely well. Only place the Ioniq 5 feels cheaper is the center console which doesn't move with ease or solidity.

The delivery of the car just takes longer than expected, but that's what you get when you do not choose one of the higher trim levels and/or larger battery with a new facelifted car. No you are not alone, it all depends on your childhood memories, when i was a kid i watched hotwheels acceleracer and they have this team which is consisted of electric cars called silencerz and they managed to make it cool, since then i always think that electric cars are cooler than ice, the emotion that ice lovers are so proud is all just in your head, otherwise people would still be riding horses because those give more emotion and fun and thrills than even the most fun ICE cars

I actually find zero noise is quite dangerous as with out sound it's very easy to go very fast without noticing on a wide road. And all these EVs can go fast quickly. It's not rare to be approaching a corner or junction a little thand you realised you was going. ​@@GreatSpot8608

Given that electric cars will shortly succumb to the "luxury vehicle tax at £40,000" the Advance makes the most sense (if it was in my price range). Why pay an extra £400 vehicle tax annually (??) for a few extras? I will wait until depreciation takes its toll. 😆

Totally. When I first saw one I thought "what a bloater". It's much bigger than you think. Just over £22K for a used two year old long range are on the market now with low mileage. Gotta buy these things on a lease, not a cash purchase.

But then it wouldn't be so roomy inside. I've ordered one after test driving loads and discounting loads because they were too cramped inside. There are very few EVs where a 6ft person can sit behind another 6ft person comfortably. Either leg room or head room is a problem. Or both.

I have a 2021 Ioniq 5 long range and it's averaged 3.9 miles per kwh over 21k. I think that's pretty good but not class leading. I get 3.5 miles per kwh on a long motorway journey. I would hope that they can get 4.5 miles from an improved facelift.

Maybe you're right about the stains, but I can tell you from experience that food, drink and mud show up just as clearly on black or charcoal. In the past I've had cars with brown, blue, green or orange interiors. Wouldn't do orange again, but all the others were nicer to be in than dark and colourless. Made you feel good. The Ioniq 5 was available with a teal interior when it first came out, but only in Korea😢

The indicator position depends on the trim level, the lower trim level s had indicators in the bumper but the premium models had them in the light cluster.

Had my Ioniq 5 for three years so on the lookout for what to have next... unfortunately its had way too many faults and recalls for me to pick it again. Hopefully now its a bit older a lot of the faults i had to go through will have been ironed out. Still looks great!

The reason why these cars have to be so expensive is because previous generations were expensive. And as most cars are bought on finance if they lowered their prices to something more realistic that would destroy their balance sheets because old cars would automatically devalue way beyond the GFV's and they'd have to write all that down. It's happening "unofficially" already with EV's getting massively discounted and used cars being fraction of the price, but the official line has to stay on the lalaland level for the lie to stick for as long as possible. The only hope for consumers is in other cheap manufacturers entering the market - which is why EU is putting all the tariffs in place.

Test drove the original model in 2021, when there were actually positive stories about EV’s! Lovely car, huge interior, very smooth and refined. However the boot is really shallow and that hasn’t changed so was ruled out as our family EV.

Youve kinda misunderstood how this works. Both batteries sit in the same 800v system architecture. Neither actually accept that high a voltage in reality. The only difference is in capacity gross 84kwh vs 63kwh, usable will be lower…anyway the point is at higher power input the higher voltage acceptance means that the current required to push the electricity into the vehicle is reduced and therefore less heat generation which is better for battery life in the long term. A 400v system can also charge a car fast but will f the battery up quicker because a higher current is required for a faster charge

I guess it's different for everyone. I find that I adjust temperature once or twice with every (shortish) trip.

I also adjust them quite often. And it's recommended to use AC on maximum on a hot day when you enter the car and reduce it later. What, if it's damp in the car? Or the sun comes out? I also change settings a lot when there's other passengers in the car with me. When doing longer trips with others you WILL adapt the settings.

A colleague of mine has this car and says it rattles and makes a lot of noise (especially on the highway) compared to her old Ford car. Anyone got any experience with this?

I can't believe Hyundai didn't upgrade their interior to premier quality like the Chinese EV. If prices are close, the Xpeng G6, Zeekr X and Byd sealion 7 are much higher quality in its interior. Buyers have a wider range to choose now...

The Ionic5 is one of those cars that look great in videos and pictures. In real life when I went to test drive it…. It’s ok. Never meet your heroes

I have different settings in the morning when the car is cold and no sun outside and then mid day you want to cool the car a bit as there's lots of sun heat coming through

Got a new ultimate model a month ago . Issues have to switch on sport drive then switch off over speed beep , lane assist, cant turn off annoying noise when driving at 20mph and slower. suspension is far to hard with bumping noise from rear luggage area. tried letting tyre pressure down and removing to cover . with no luck. economy is poor average, 2.7 most days and a few friends have similar car with much the same economy Best bits adjustable regen with 1 pedal driving, doesn't spin the wheels on wet roads especially at roundabouts from hell . Nice car to drive, but think the Tesla Y was better , but couldn't live with big screen and cant adjust the regen when driving. My wife is the main driver , but i think the Kona she had was a better it had fantastic economy.

MG and Hyundai have fitted rear wipers after criticism. Toyota on the other hand have removed them from new Prius and CHR 👎👎👎

Always get the biggest battery. Less charging cycles means it’ll last longer. Battery degradation is still better in a bigger battery because you have more range to degrade from. Resale will be better and in an EV with how much it depreciates you’ll want as much as you can
