@@TheDezembro thank you brother, if there is a way to support your channel please let me know, you were good when you began this, very good, now you do these masterfully, you are one of the best at pointing out the hypocrisy of it all, western AAA has been in decline for a while now, it was just so gradual it was almost unnoticeable but then 2020 happened and they/them doubled down, it started around 2015ish looking back, hindsight being 20 20 and all, yet you've put it down and in no uncertain terms, you are putting it down and in words what us gamers have been feeling for a while, stagnation, it only has two paths now, continuation and collapse or immediately change course but it will most certainly be the former as they have become gorged on greed and their 2008 is coming, it is so bloated it's too slow to change at the pace needed and I predict the crash and the rise of the AA as the games people are looking forward to, they are getting better and better, they innovate and it is now just a matter of time until they can match the big devs in graphical terms and mechanics with the rise of A.I assistance (assistance only, A.I will only make soulless games once capable) and they will become the new AAA and then eventually over 10-20 years they will go the same way, it's a new field relatively, history always repeats, please keep doing what you are doing, your our David Attenborough mate, except without the grift, you have integrity and honour to ye, you have this Irishman's respect as a wordsmith, a truth talker I call ye, apex level, bravo 👏

Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D remake, localized censorship aside, was definitely one of my highlights this year. I grew up playing JRPG's and something that harkened back to a simple time with one of the earliest ones spoke to me. I thoroughly loved going through this classic again with it's wonderful new spritework.

The fast travel system in dragons dogma was in there in the 2011 original. The micro transaction was the thing tacked on but the system was not made for it it just worked really well with it. I love the lack of fast travel the inhospitable gameplay helped the original feel more like an actually dangerous adventure you planned for instead of just fast traveling where you need to go. The issue with 2 is the world is so big and there was too many enemies along the way bogging it down. The compactness of the original really helped it.

The game I was most disappointed for this year was the one I was most looking forward to. Dragon's Dogma 2. It went hyper woke, and produced a very weak story with a weak variety of enemies.

It really didn't. There was a hint of it with the character creator and the stupid haircut but the original had mason who was from another country. The non European looking characters also hail from different areas of the map in 2. 2 is an expansion on the multiverse aspects of the original with obvious echoes of the original. Most prominently the bluemoon tower like area. The game had issues and it did have some woke elements but it was very little. They got little notes every now pretty much but was left relatively clean. It was not a better pokemon game. It was an ark survival evolved clone before it's anything like pokemon. Definitely the next in a series of "i hate pokemon support it's clone" thing even though it ended up not really being that at all.

2024 has overall been a pretty shitty year for me personally. Some good things, many bad, and one very bad thing. But the games I've played have overall been in the positive column. Because of channels like yours, I have avoided the terrible games and not wasted my time on them. The bonus here is that I am also entertained by the critiques. I've enjoyed the resurgence of Helldivers 2 (still pissed about the PSN thing though). I am enjoying Pantheon (the MMO). I love Path of Exile 2. Space Marine 2 was fun, Jedi Survivor I picked up on sale (and it's pretty good so far), Rogue Trader I got on sale (also a lot of fun). I am genuinely looking forward to some releases and some recommendations as well, and that is again thanks to channels like this. These things kept my mind off of the ways that life can be terrible at the worst moments for you, and I am thankful for that. Hope you keep making videos man. You have a knack for it.

There was a lot of drops this year for looter shooter players. Destiny 2 the Final Shape, tHe First Descendant and Warframe 1999. All were very well received. Destiny 2 has since fallen out of favor for very good reason. Warframe still has an amazing playerbase after 14 years. The First Descendant seem to be filing in Warframes footsteps

You ain’t miss nothing with Hellblade 2. It’s subpar to the first game, imo, and so completely on rails I was dozing off playing it. I did finish it tho, simply bc it was so short. Great performance from the actress, graphically impressive if ultra-realism tickles your fancy…that’s about all the good things I can say about it tho

Just wanted to say I recently discovered your channel and very much find your commentary enjoyable. The one big complaint I had with other channels that cover the issues in the game industry is that it felt performative. It's easy to attack braindead articles from propagandist websites, and the "low hanging fruit" method of commentary lost its luster for me. Discovering your channel was very interesting. It feels like you're saying most of the same things, but with a bit more intelligence and insight. When I hear other channels and think, "Man, what a missed opportunity to not say _____," I find I'm having the opposite experience on your channel. I'm actually hearing comments and thinking "Wow, what a good point." I hope your channel continues to grow and that you stick with it. I enjoy the content and it has really elevated my commute.

I LOVED Rise of the Ronin. Didn't expect to have so much fun with it. And those characters from the Bakumatsu period are freakin Legends! Especially the Shinsengumi ones. I think this game is underrated. But yes, it should be cheaper than 70 bucks. Edit: dah mais uma oportunidade ao Rise of the Ronin, especialmente se conheces o Rurouni Kenshin (ou Samurai X).

@@samuel.jpg.1080p It was a while back when I played it. The demo had me hooked too it was really good, but I had my concerns so I did what I do in these cases. I bought it after playing the demo, your progress transfers, returned it before the two hour mark. Went offline and bum rushed the game in a day. One thing it pushes is feminism quite strongly, it also insults Christians and Christianity quite a lot, but beyond those two glaring points I can't recall. I think it pushes communism as well, but can't remember. If you want to play it, I recommend doing like I did, you don't need to bum rush it though. If you like it by the time the main antagonist has his "Last Supper" then go ahead and buy it, but I was barely holding on to it from there and it continued to devolve. They left all wokeness out of the demo, and to me that appeared intentional.

I did really like Horizon zero dawn,never had a slight urge to replay it which is weird for me but I really liked it but Forbidden west killed any interest I had in the IP. It wasn't a terrible game but I was trying to do everything and probably got around 50% and it was just wearing on me so I pushed hard through the story so I wouldn't just drop it without finishing. Aloy just felt so much less likable to me this time through and while I have praised the combat for being different I find it starts to get tedious which is probably why I never replayed the first. That said I still get annoyed by the screen shot everyone uses for how she looks in the game, I do agree they changed her for the worse a little bit but nothing as bad as that one shot.

thanks for mentioning Banishers! I loved Vampyr and I found Banishers equal to that. I had a lot of fun with it and the quests are all good to great. Unfortunately as with Vampyr, the combat is lackluster but the parry and gun mechanic really saved the combat from being mediocre and lacking impact/variety imo. However Dontnod said the game flopped.. I hope they will still make AA RPG again or simply make sequel of Vampyr

I love both of those games a ton! It's sad to see Don't Nod reporting a bad financial situation. They're pretty talented and we can see with Banishers how they're willing to spend more money and take a crack at increasing their production quality. But it seems like it's not reflecting in the sales. I want them to keep making these kinds of videos, even moreso than their other type of narrative-driven stuff. I think their marketing could be better, for both Banishers and Lost Records, I don't remember seeing anything that made me want to play the games. I simply wanted to play them because of knowing the STUDIO. But that's obviously bad for the majority of people out there who have no idea who they are.

@@TheDezembro yeah, hope their marketing next time will be better. If their options are limited, I think Vampyr 2 is a more appropriate project for them. They can reuse some assets plus the game already has a following and vampires are more popular than ghost hunting for general audience. Vampyr is one of their most profitable title, having sold 1 million even tho Focus Entertainment only hoped it would sell 500k to make a profit so while it is unfortunate Banishers flopped, I hope they can make a sequel out of vampyr because i think it will sell better

I bought both of those games and I had opposite reactions to both. I love the Dragon's Dogma 2 I think every open world game should aspire to be half as good as it is . The world felt alive while traveling you'd see Pawns walking down the roads or fighting other monsters. Pawns will strike up a conversation with you to ask to be recruited to your party. Soldiers defending carriages from Griffin, skeletons and cyclopsis. Monsters would Ambush you but it doesn't happen so often that it becomes annoying. I was so burnt out on open world games but once I heard Dragon's Dogma was coming back I had to buy it and they did not disappoint and now it's even harder for me to play other open world games. If I had to make one criticism about the game it would probably be the fast travel system but subsequent playthroughs it's super convenient. As for Rise of the Ronin it was so pathetic I wish I could get my refund for that game the controls were horrible, combat had no weight or impact, your decisions did not impact the story in any meaningful way the only thing they change are the comrades you received, two-player Co-op was limited to specific missions, and the menus were just overly convoluted for no reason. That game was a bad ghost of tsushima copy it was all Style no substance they spent 8 years on that trash. It came out 4 years after ghosts of tsushima on new hardware yet it looked and played worse sad.

Arkham Origins is severely underrated, it has it's issue but it's more 'Rocksteady' than whatever SSKTJL was trying to do, same AAActivist game that was £99.99 not even a year ago now £4.99, if anyone wants to play a game that's not even worth a fiver give it a go, worth it to drop a deservedly poor 1* review as it has somehow got near average of 4* which is baffling, people must love mediocrity, thanks to channels like this the western AAA sphere aka far Leftwaffe echo chamber has been exposed and fair play to everyone who kept their wallets closed, happy new year from Ireland 🇮🇪🙏🤝

One of the few games I got at launch back in the day. I had a great time with Arkham Origins, I didn't even suffer that many issues with it at the time. It was a worthy successor to Rocksteady's work, at the time I didn't even know it was another studio.

@TheDezembro I did as well mate 😂 it was my sisters wedding day and I ran down to the town in me suit and got my copy making everything late, worth it, loved the boss fights and although it has a few issues with the empty world and that bloody bridge all the time it was great fun and like you said I thought it was the same studio until someone pointed it out, they don't have devs like that these days I don't think, all the new tech and they give us SSKTJL, I bought it there for £4.99 on XB, most I did was pay for the almond 'milk' for one devs morning soy latte, I got to leave a 1* review, i can live with that, if I paid the £99.99 I would be enraged ngl but I don't preorder nothing anymore until I hear from you and the very very few like you I trust, you say it's ok then I'll buy, I got that Banishers off your recommendation and again, has it's issues but it's a decent game, that's what they don't get, we are not intolerant, we are just allegic to the nonsense and preachy antics at the sake of a good game, should be making art instead of writing a would be CNN/BBC/RTE propaganda piece, they've put real world politics into our games to a point it is now farcical and hilariously bad, I pity them, the real world you need to work hard, they/them are about to learn that if it's a merit based employment system fair to all.

FS2024 is as broken as 2020 was four years ago. This year has been nothing but disappointments. Even Stalker 2 launched in a broken state.

lol we have an original story that worked perfectly without any of the crazy additions and flashy implementations of the remakes so far, such as the ridiculous giant anime blob god fights at the end of FF7 Remake instead of just riding out of the city with a sense of dread, hope and mystery. And for not liking these additions, that don't even rely on writing - they're just fireworks on the screen - and thinking they detract from the elegance of the writing and storytelling in the original I have bad taste and don't understand writing?....... Okay. 😂
