2024 INEOS Grenadier: Bespoke Off-roader for the REAL 4x4 enthusiast

I’m glad Sr. Jim Radcliff decided to step up and come up with this vehicle. Finally!!! A UTILITY WAGON for the North American market. We can not get the 70 series Land Cruiser, LR missed their chance with the new Defender (another SUV now), Mercedes could have done it but decided to aim the G wagon to rich yahoos. Jeeps are serious off road vehicles right out from the factory but nothing utilitarian about them. Then we have SUV’s (Bronco, 4Runner, etc) that people are turning them into off road toys and “Overlanding” is synonymous of off road/camping.

I bought one of these - it looks lovely! If I want to see it, all I have to d is to get the bus down to the Ineos dealer where it has been for the last 5 weeks and counting. The vehicle has a cabin heater/ aircon fault, and Ineos Technical don't have a scooby how to fix the fault. But why should they lose any sleep - they have been paid in full, and clearly regard this as my problem. I wrote recorded delivery to Lynn Calder Ineos CEO to try to get some traction on this - no response from the boss, so she probably also doesn't care.

Man the comments here are full of tools. People are allowed opinions, but some people really came gunning for you 😂 I personally enjoyed the overview. I don’t consider this a review, more of a first impressions and perhaps others could do with taking things less seriously. I’ve been strongly considering a Grenadier because of where I live, but it’s very expensive. I understand why, with all the engineering, but it’d be a step down from my XC90 in terms of interior materials and that’s saying something. I have however taken it for a drive and also been driven by one of the Ineos professionals. It’s night and day compared with an old defender.

I agree that there are better options than gloss black. However, its not nearly as prevalent as what we see in many other newer vehicles.

That’s a great question. We’re just now getting them in the US so I’m not completely sure. However, I’ve not seen many complaints from other countries that have had them for a few years now. Also, their simple and robust approach leads me to believe they’ll be very reliable as there isn’t much to go wrong. Time will ultimately tell.

I’m not sure where 98k came in, the Grenadiers start much less than that. The cheapest 2020 4 door Defender within 500 miles of me is 67k. I’d rather have a new Grenadier personally.

@@oldquakerfirst and foremost: I’ve never received any money from any manufacturer or dealer, nor have I received any other sort of compensation, to make any of my videos. My thoughts and opinions are my own. Just as your opinion that spending slightly less for car that’s over 4 years older (and not built for the same purpose) is the better option is your own. I like the Defender, and I have spent a lot of time on the configuration pages for both the Grenadier and the Defender. Heck, I spend a lot of time on a lot of manufacturers configuration pages. It’s part of the research that I do as a “wannabe car youtuber”. Most cars these days can have tens of thousands of dollars difference between the base model and top trim.

I’m saying that Ineos built the Grenadier for the real 4x4 enthusiast. I’m not saying that you’re not a real enthusiast if you don’t drive an Ineos. I consider myself a real enthusiast and my off-road rigs have always been Jeeps.

@ 9:02- he "sells" you on doesn't-fold-flat-seats that are better than fold flat. MY 91, 95, 97 Ford Explorer and 2002, 2007, 2013 Escalade Ext all were flat. I could sleep flat out west and haul flat gear for work.

Sadly for me it’s not built better, and it suffers from the same issues as the Land Rover it was supposed to better as, in short it won’t take a tall or long legged person, it fits better in the us as your tunnel isn’t impeded by the exhaust system like it is on right hand drive models so for an English built vehicle they have serially messed that up You guys ain’t huge and even you looked cramped so why didn’t Ineos deal with the defender issue of small cramped driving space Also it has had some very shaky issues with build quality hopefully that gets better as it progresses so won’t beat them down for that. Sadly it’s never going to beat my Toyota Land Cruiser that is far superior in every way I had hoped it would turn me away from Toyota but sadly it won’t because I fit in my Land Cruiser I don’t in this so they have a long way to go to get to Toyota quality

I suppose huge is a relative term. I’m 6’4” (193 cm) and 235 pounds (107 kg) and I didn’t feel cramped at all. The build quality seemed great from what I was able to tell. However, I haven’t had it for a longer period to be able to notice issues that may not be more subtle.

@@MOHAWKAUTO​​⁠I’m 6ft 7in and 36.5 inside leg and the tunnel intrusion and the very small width of the front seats was hemming you in which is what I had hoped they would get away from with the outgoing defender, why make it so it’s not as adjustable it limits the market especially as the average height in most countries is getting bigger and taller.

It is not and will not ever be British It is BMW but all accessories needed for the engine are plastic and absolute garbage If you visit a BMW dealership to get a service, be prepared to pay stupid money But saying that, Land Rover, slash Range Rover are probably alot worse Toyota Land Cruiser are by far more superior in every department and i do mean every department Price, capability, comfort, technology, looks, lifetime, lasting value, so on and so on Please comment back to me in a couple of years BMW and LAND ROVER, RANGE ROVER are names that are very overrated brands, that are very expensive to keep running, They will also depreciate very very quickly In England the Range Rover will lose its value, on average by £25,000 per year, £500 per week Also in England at the moment the Range Rover, if owned in London, will cost more than 20 grand a year for insurance It will get stolen Beautiful but, Absolute pile of shite

Time will tell how the Ineos holds up. I agree that those brands can be expensive to maintained by a mechanic.
