V…… that’s the shape of your rig. Trailer nosed, truck tail dipped. 🤣 I have GMC 3.0 and absolutely wouldn’t pull without trailer distribution hitch. But you wouldn’t either, I’m sure. I May change the rear shocks due to sag while towing even with the WD. hitch. The sag is unacceptable if you ask me. Anyway great video!! Thank you!

@MOHAWKAUTO can you explain more about trailer tires. I'm looking to learn more.
@MOHAWKAUTO
@MOHAWKAUTO 3 күн бұрын
@pauldershem sure! Basically, they’re just like any other tire when it comes to their ratings such as load, speed, wear, and so on. It’s important to pay attention to the speed ratings for whatever you’re towing to make sure they can handle the weight and speeds you’re needing. In some places, the speed limits aren’t high enough to warrant a higher rated tire and it seems as though many trailers come from the factory with tire rated for about 65. The trailer in this video had Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs that are more of an SUV/Truck tire so they’re rated for a higher load capacity and speed rating. The tires on my trailer are considered a “trailer” tire yet are also rated for higher loads and speed. Like any other tire, typically the higher load and speed ratings come at a higher price point, which may be a factor when purchasing different tires as well.

Im not a ford fan but i have to admit the 3.5 is hard to beat. I test drove the 3.0 gmc and its stupid SLOW o to 60 is about 10 seconds. It makes less tq than the 3.5 and before you start talking about low end tq the 3.5 makes tons of low end tq. I can tow my camp trailer at 65 1800 rpm at 11mpg. The oy thing the 3.0 can do better than the 3.5 is non towing mpg.

2021 Silverado LTZ with 3.0. I tow a 7k gvwr car trailer with a stripped down Ford Ranger racer on it. Roughly 5000-5500lbs total. I tend to lead foot it when not towing, and run about 70mph when towing. Not towing and driving more normal speeds, I average about 27mpg on the highway but have seen as high as 32. Towing I average about 19mpg but have had it as high as 22mpg

The Silverado Z71 used to be the flagship. In the ZR2 now used to be what the Z71 was back in like 89. It was an aggressive four-wheel drive truck that you could have lifted from the dealer and they can order you aftermarket wheels. In aftermarket exhaust like glasspacks. I don't understand why they're not making the Z71 with the ZR2 is does Z71 is a historical name plate

Great review! I have a 2022 3.0 in the Z71 package and love it. Head winds definitely affect it quite a bit. Just 2 weeks ago a buddy and I took it to the casino about 170 miles from my house and ran into a 20-25 head wind most of the drive (70%) and it only showed 22.1 mpg when we got there. The next day on the way home without that head wind it showed 28.3 mpg when I pulled into my gate. I have 68k on it now and it averages over 25mpg every week and up to 26.5 and my daily driving is through pretty bad traffic on my commute home as it is 22.5 miles and can take up to an hour to get home so there is a lot of crawling and stop/start driving on it. I like the 3.0 so much that I sold my older 6.6 duramax and installed a gooseneck hitch and air bags on the 3.0 and use it for the towing I do now which it handles with ease. I've hauled 10 calves that the avg weight was 550 and my GN cattle trailer weighs about 3500 empty. The torque this little engine makes is awesome and the 10 speed transmission is great especially on the highway where at 80mph it is running around 1650 rpm.

STAY AWAY! I purchased 2 GMC Sierra’s last year, the first one was a SLT and I had a few issues, mainly lack of towing features. SO… I traded it for the 3.0 AT4 and initially I LOVED IT! Then I started towing my 6,000n lb camper. On my first trip I topped off the DEF at about 300 miles. Then 100 miles later I got the DEF LOW warning SPEED REDUCED in xxx miles. WTF! So I pulled over when I could and tried to put DEF in the tank, IT WOULD NOT TAKE IT??? I had 1000 more miles to go and I had DEF on hand, over the truck Alan was wondering WHEN WOULD THIS TRUCK STOP? Long story short, I had to find a campground, unhitch and take the truck to service. On the way to service the truck fixed itself??? They ran diagnostics and said your truck is GREAT? I hooked up and at another 300 miles the same warning came on, then it went away just before miles were reduced. the truck was in a an out of service with no solution. My father, a former GM HD Truck Engineer said “Dump that thing” and that what I did. I now have a Ford Powerstroke 2500.. NO PROBLEMS.. GM took that truck out of the oven too soon. If you drive to the grocery store, Lowe’s. ECT this truck is great! MPG id amazing, I actually got 30 MPG on the highway. If you actually use the truck, to work… AGAIN STAY AWAY!
@MOHAWKAUTO
@MOHAWKAUTO 18 күн бұрын
@@jeffswanson3413 I disagree with the idea of staying away, but I do agree that the DEF warning is too sensitive and over reacts. It has told me I’m low when towing and it clearly wasn’t. That’s my only complaint. I also think you’d have better luck with any 2500 obviously. All of them have been out a long time. I get 15 mpg towing my 7000 pound trailer and I just keep DEF with me in case I actually run out.

Great review. You have to be smart about adjusting the seats in a small car then you have a little more slack, especially on the passenger seat you can do that. I am looking for an X1 (now you have the much more affordable occasions already on the market, the first year it usually loses most of its value ;) ) and I currently drive a 1 series. I'm a bit smaller, 6'2 , but people up to 5'8 can sit behind me normally without having to adjust the seats, although the 1 series is a lot smaller then this X1. The occasions when you have four tall people sitting in a car are very rare for most people. For 95% of families with up to two children this car is ideal I think. Another thing here in Europe (I live in Switzerland) are the small parking spaces, especially in some parking garages. That is the reason why I personally prefer this car to a larger model. We are just a couple. In the US, of course, this argument is not so important. Have a great day and thanks!

I'm averaging 12-13 MPG with 2021 LTZ, Z71, 3.0, towing in all Montana conditions towing 14k camper at 70mph. Hills are no problem at any speed. Sometimes gearing down very steep mountain roads, it smokes real bad exhaust and the dealer doesn't know why? I agree, It sure uses more DEF when towing. I have 70k miles on it and love the ride.

@8:02 he said the trail boss comes with an electronic locking in that is incorrect we have seven trail boss vehicles they all have mechanical locking rear ends. All of our 6.2 L trail bosses have over 230,000 miles on them as they get driven about 80,000 miles a year out in the west Texas oil fields and really have had zero issues other than a few alternators and a starter here and there. March 2024 we purchased three trail boss with the little minimax diesels and those things have been pure junk they're always in the shop for some sort of emissions related problem. We have already ordered their replacement with gasoline engines they will be here in about another week. One of those little mini Max diesel had to have a motor at 28,000 miles because it ingested its own injection pump knocked a hole in all six cylinders Also you were talking about you have an average of 10.2 miles a gallon on that 6.2 L I'm sitting in my 2022 model right now with the odometer reading 166,000 miles I have never set the trip meter on it so it gives the average for the entire life of a vehicle on the fuel economy even with long idle times in the oil field mine is showing 13.7 right now. After the experiences we had putting that little mini max through its paces out here in the Dusty West Texas area they should knock off a couple of thousand dollars for anyone even purchasing that little diesel. But I guess if you're just gonna get it for a little concrete queen or a grocery get her it's probably gonna last forever but not for real men's jobs

Dude what is the deal with these truck review KZbinrs filling the fuel tank in a stupid way, just fill the tank all the way full, tell you can see the fuel in the fuel filler hose and fill it to the same spot, you can have a gallon difference with diesel foaming up from pump to pump and if the point of the video is to be accurate on fuel economy why not be accurate, and fill the tank to the top of the filler neck makes absolutely no sense to let the truck fill up and click and then let it go and click again thats going to be inaccurate and there's literally no point of it, just fill the tank full to the top if it's hard to see down your fuel filler hose just go slow on the last half gallon until the fuel starts to spill out a little bit now you know you've filled the tank to the exact same spot every time,, also your dry run you should do at 60 MPH for it to be accurate since that's how fast you towed the trailer and 60 miles an hour is 20 below the speed limit not 10
@MOHAWKAUTO
@MOHAWKAUTO Ай бұрын
@@bently1984 you’re welcome to conduct your own tests. As long as the truck is filled up the same way each time, the result should be about as equally full as possible with a negligible difference. The point of the speed difference was to show what you could possibly (notice the tentative language?) expect between normal driving and towing driving fuel economy. The truck speed limit is 70 mph in Idaho in rural areas and many states consider the number of axles to be what determines the speed of the vehicle and whether it falls in the truck or passenger vehicle speeds. In this case, the high winds and lack of weight distribution hitch required me to drive slower for safety reasons. However, I do encourage you to go buy this truck yourself, get the same trailer, and make your own video. Let me know when you post it as I’d love to check it out. Thanks for watching the video.

Im currently considering which engine to get in the Yukon. I tow nothing, but want to consider fuel mileage and also “immediate power” to swiftly pass cars if I have to. How good is the diesel in acceleration from zero…..and more importantly while driving at highway speed? As compared to the 5.3 and 6.2?
@MOHAWKAUTO
@MOHAWKAUTO Ай бұрын
@@markkeller9378 the 6.2 is always going to feel better as is has more horsepower and similar torque, but it’ll have to downshift a few times to get to the right rpm range to make it happen. I’m not saying that’s bad, I’m just saying it’s a thing. I’ve heard the diesel has similar acceleration to the 5.3 at highway speeds, yet I think the diesel accelerates better and more quietly. This truck and engine has been a surprise highway cruising delight that’s quiet and comfortable and it can scoot when you put the pedal down. From a stop it will spin all the wheels if you’d like and it will even spin them while rolling. The traction system is good enough to prevent this but I noticed this being an issue when turned off while at the drag strip. In order to avoid wheel spin (even after rolling for a second or when shifting to second gear) I had to play with it a bit. What I’m getting at is that the immediate power is certainly there and shouldn’t be an issue. If I were getting a Tahoe or Suburban, the diesel would be my first choice.
