I have a '23 LZ0 Z71, LTZ. Empty I see 32-35 mpg at hwy speeds. I've gotten as high as 41 mpg at 55 mph sustained driving. Towing our 4k lb. camper I get +/- 20 mpg. I previously had a similarly equipped 5.3L and didn't care for it much when it came to towing. It just seemed to work too hard. That one got roughly 13 mpg towing. I am very happy with this 3.0....except for one thing, who decided that it was a good idea to make it so the driver has to move the shift lever FORWARD for reverse?? It's electronic for crying out loud! They could have made it any way they wanted but nooooo. (Rant over.)

Your review is partially wrong. The pacifica has sunshades. Also I chose the pacifica because it was 15k cheaper and i get 60mpg instead of 36. The Toyota is probably more reliable, but they wanted 10k over msrp and I had to take whatever showed up on the lot

I just rented a Pacifica Plug in Hybrid from Alamo at DEN and drove it to Vail. That's over the Continental Divide, to and fro, plus about 120 miles in between with many thousands of feet of elevation change. So 300 miles approx across the Rocky Mountains, I used 9 gallons of fuel and I never bothered to plug in the unit either as it was being valet parked. I just got 40 MPG in a 7 passenger minivan that handled very heavy traffic to Vail that made the trip close to 3 hours. It was smooth and substantial feeling. I'm seriously considering buying one I was so impressed.

the new wl grand c is a mixed bag for me. i do like the exterior design. i guess the cargo area is improved also with that . i also like the power lift gate and parking brake but thats about as far as it goes. the power train is smooth and quiet thanks to zf tranny but its under powered and outdated. you can get a two tone interior in the limited but the all black interiors in the laredo and altitude are abysmal. the piano black trim in the center stack is horrible. the rotary dial taking up space in the center is the worst in the industry. it is a comfortable, quiet, easy to drive, and somewhat affordable midsize suv in the lower trims. it is also cheaply made with some quality and reliability issues. i refuse to buy another car with a black interior bc im old and they are just to hard see anything. i wish i could put the old interior with a lighter color in the new body style about sums it up. maybe jeep will redesign some things, offer a second interior color in the upcoming mcr, as ford had to do to with the explorer. im more drawn to the two rows but i still wouldnt buy one. its really hard to find an affordable used or new suv without a black interior these days.

@@motexas9092 the only issue I’ve had is that I have a slight clunk coming from the rear leaf springs. It’s a TSB that will be getting fixed next week. Oh, and my DEF gauge was going crazy with all the towing I had been doing this summer. It would attempt to estimate how “full” my tank was and would occasionally say I had less than I really did and lead to the occasional over filling of my DEF. Super irritating, but since it’s mostly water I would just put the cap on and flush the spill with water.

Great review. Tongue weight is my concern also. Not hauling a trailer but a 25' boat with about 800lbs of tongue weight. Would you suggest air bags or a LD Hitch? Otherwise as a daily driver it's a much better choice than the HD IMO and a heck of a lot easier to park. Agree on the off road v on road towing capability, currently have a 21 GMC AT4 with the 5.3 and it's terrible MPG wise and the sag is unacceptable.
@MOHAWKAUTO
@MOHAWKAUTO 13 күн бұрын
@@ChuckDaymude Since this video, I bought almost this exact trailer and have towed it thousands of miles. I bought a weight distribution hitch because I feel like WD hitch is the better option. Air bags help with taking some of the weight off the leaf springs and help level things out a bit, but they don’t take the weight off the rear axle. A WD hitch does just that, it takes some of the weight and shifts it from the tongue (and therefore the rear axle) and distributes it towards the trailer more. This helps the truck and the trailer be more level and a heck of a lot safer. There’s great videos out there that can explain WD hitches better than I can. Even with my WD hitch, I’m still debating airbags or something similar to reduce strain on my trailer as I’ve seen some trailer tongues collapse because of WD hitches. I think that if one system is good, then both would be great and that you could get the best of both.
@ChuckDaymude
@ChuckDaymude 13 күн бұрын
@@MOHAWKAUTO Appreciate the thoughtful and timely reply. Yeah, the WD hitch is something I am super familiar with and have given consideration to. Had not heard about WD hitches tearing up trailer tongues before but can see how that could happen due to the stress being cantilevered back to the trailer. Empty I would get 21.2. The truck was an extended cab 2wd.

Awesome, realistic video. We have the 3.0 LTZ with the max tow package and a shorter, but slightly heavier camper. Using the Blue Ox Swaypro WD hitch, we averaged around 13-15 mpg's while towing on a 500 mile round trip through the White Mountains and New England. We have a bit less sag, but your set up is probably much smoother on normal driving.

Great fuel mileage but not a great engine design that uses a belt driven oil pump located at the back of the motor. If belt fails motor is toast. I read 15+ hours labor to replace the belt + parts. The premise of a diesel engine is reliability, I think this belt introduced a risk to reliability.

my 2022 chevy 3.0 has the power to pull 8000#, but the big problem i have with mine is, it sways when you pull an enclosed trailer of any size, I have a 33' camper, and a 16' foot enclosed trailer, it sways pulling either one. I drove mine from Michigan to Florida this past winter and got 36mpg, and only cost $175 in fuel, and one box of DEF the whole trip, I drove from Wilson, NC to Midland, MI on one tank full (22 glns) towing i get between 12-14 depends on wind, and the total average i get is 26-30mpg. I enjoy the gas mileage, but towing boxed trailers or campers sucks, my flatbed is different, I can load that up, and it pulls fine. No one has the answer for me to fix it, or make it better hauling. I might just go back to my Dodge 2500
