@@wagganationMFFMhave a head on in a torana compared to a late model say Camry. I know which one I’d rather be sitting in at the end of it. The toranas steering wheel will be probably punch an imprint into your chest and bonnet come through the windscreen. I love old cars eg torana, but safety wise you can’t beat 5 star safety ratings. Same again with side impact, I’d rather be sitting in the wife’s merc with 9 airbags / air curtains than a torana

WTF is mood lighting in a ute for, actually never mind. I'd prefer not to know...😂 I'd say if you want to tow a 3.5t and and take "the family and all the gear", you shouldn't/cant use a DC ute anyway. Is it a ZF transmission or a licensed copy of the ZF transmission?

Manufacturers keep marketing this 3500kg crap, although some have more leftover payload than this. But I agree. Science suggests nobody should tow anything heavier than the tow vehicle unless the trailer has double the amount of wheels, like a proper 18-wheeler.

On paper JAC T9 looks pretty good. My question, that will only be answered after they have gone on sale here in Australia, is whether is whether JAC Australia plays dirty with warranty and service. If they do, JAC vehicles name will be mud here in Australia.

Because it features an old (Euro 5), weak (low power and torque) engine and it offers low ground clearance and, in my opinion, copied design elements from other utes. Also, these JACs are not selling well in China yet they are being sent over to Australia, which is very questionable in my view - 15 years experience as a motoring journalist. If you've had a good experience with the GWM, well done. That's great. I never said it was a lemon. I said the front suspension is terrible and needs further tuning to keep up with the current segment standards, in my opinion. PS. If you read correctly, the thumbnail for this video specifically asks a question: "Another lemon hazard?"

@drivingenthusiastaustralia
@drivingenthusiastaustralia Ай бұрын
Yes, but according to Redbook data (based on what people have actually sold their vehicles for), the HiLux drops only 25-30% of its value after 5 years. Brands like LDV and GWM (other like-minded 'value' brands) drop around 50%. In other words, that HiLux you're referring to will still be worth around $41,000 after 5 years. My professional opinion is that this T9 will be selling for around $20,000-25,000 on the used car market after 5 years. That's without investigating other ownership experiences such as after-sales care, service availability and dealer network, long-term reliability. All of these areas are still an unknown in Australia, which is always a challenge for any new brand. It will be interesting to see how it goes. If they can stick with it and keep pushing like MG, and even Hyundai-Kia in their early years, I have no doubt they will succeed.

The Jac looks good and it will be interesting to see the reviews when they get here .
@drivingenthusiastaustralia
@drivingenthusiastaustralia Ай бұрын
Depreciation is not made up. It is literally the value of the car when it's time to sell, based on what vehicles have sold for. According to recent data from Redbook in Australia, car brands from emerging markets are not holding their value as well as some of the established models. Let me give you an example: 2018 Toyota HiLux SR5 automatic (main top spec) Price when new: $56,440 Resale value today (official guide): $40,050-$44,200 (avg: $42,125) Depreciation: $14,315, or a loss of 25.3% on new car price 2018 LDV T60 LUXE auto (main top spec) Price when new: $36,831 Resale value today: $16,900-$19,100 (avg: $18,000) Depreciation: $18,831, or a loss of 51.1% And yes, completely agree, Chinese cars are definitely getting there and I have no doubt the standards in engineering and design will be up to scratch in the near future. But the future isn't here yet.
