Great review! We love ours. With battery technology changing so fast these days, we leased ours. In the US the 7,500 credit is applied on a lease. Ev9 has a great residual value so the GTline lease ended up being $500 less per month than a Model X. I don’t believe they offer a lease on the R1S yet, only R1T.
@EverydayReviews202211 ай бұрын
Do you miss the tech from the Model X? Was just checking out a friends Model S today and man it’s pretty impressive how well their system works. Even the sentry system is amazing.
@p.matthew529311 ай бұрын
We still have a model Y and Tesla’s software is amazing. With that said we love apple carplay :) and Kia’s software is intuitive and really fast. Their app isn’t bad either. Our past BMW’s have been good but our Range Rover sport, Jaguar and a Ram, all had bugs and the software features were lacking. Kia’s tech feels the closet to Rivian and Tesla. The Kia feels more comfortable to drive than the model X and I do like having regen options in the Kia. Tesla’s is always on. It also doesn’t hurt to drive something different amongst a sea of teslas. I couldn’t find a German made 3 row ice vehicle under 90k so with a great lease deal, the Kia was a no brainer for us.

How come Hyundai/ Kia cars are always so much cheaper in Canada vs the US. In the US, I think the rivian is a better deal for slightly more money. We had an Ioniq 5 and I loved it! The ev9 drove like a big Ioniq but I didn’t feel it was worth the $76k usd, esp for the poor range. The 300+ mi range of my rivian makes long day trips so much easier without needing to charge, which was not the case w my Ioniq.

The Rivian R1S dual motor is actually less than the Kia EV9 GT-line after the $3750 tax credit, at least in the US. Range is similar but the Rivian has more performance, more storage space, air suspension, bigger screen, better tech and app, nicer interior, off-road capability, higher towing capacity and more. The Kia has a bit more interior passenger room than the Rivian, since it's basically a minivan turned SUV. I'd say they are definitely direct competitors in those trims and would take the Rivian hands down. The EV9 AWD Wind seems like a bargain for low to mid 60s though, and the Rivian R1S dual motor performance and quad motor are best in class, albeit significantly more money at that point. That being said there are used quad motor R1S being sold for low 80s from preorder flippers now, essentially brand new with full warranty.

He don't know abut real technology for family ev car. First, range and efficiency. Second, Fast charging. Over 30 minutes for charging is not easy for family car(esp. winter and hot summer). @Fabulousprofound16811 ай бұрын
In Canada, the cheapest Rivian R1S is $116.5k new. Flippers are selling quad motor 2023 models in the $130k range. The base model EV9 Light RWD is just under $60k. The full load GT-Line is somewhere around $79k… but this is before the market adjustments some Kia dealers will tack on. I remember someone posting on Reddit the dealer he dealt with tried to fleece him for $10k extra on top and he walked 😣
@ChiefComplaintX11 ай бұрын
@@Fabulousprofound168 yeah that's the problem with dealers. I think there is something in the works for Korean makers and Amazon. That'll be the day! I'm not sold with these big family vehicle EVs though. The way I use them for, EV is not good enough. I guess the tech and infrastructure is not there yet.
@jasonstewart76411 ай бұрын
I'm not sure where you are getting your numbers. The cheapest Rivian R1s on paper would be the dual motor noon-performance silver with standard battery for $78K. The Kia GT-Line MSRP starts at $73,900 before the incentives. So with the $3,750 cash or finance incentive that would be $70,150, well below the Rivian starting price of $78,000. And I have never heard of ANYONE getting the Standrad battery on the RIvian, which increases the practical starting price to $84,000 for the silver with large pack. You can increase the cost of the GT-Line with options, but you can do the same for the Rivian and they generally cost more for the Rivian. For example, let's upgrade both to blue. This will cost you an added $695 on the EV9 and $2,500 on the R1S. Now let's upgrade the interior finish -- $495 on the EV9, $2,000 n the R1s. The only upgrade that you can do on the EV9 that doesn't have a counterpart would be the second row relaxation seats for $2,000, and they are totally unnecessary -- you get the captains seats included in the base GT-Line cost so all that adds is power folding and footrests on a kid could enjoy. And all this is before you can deal with Kia to go below MSRP, which is quite common. My R1s order is $86.5K (for dual, large, blue). I can get a blue EV9 GT-Line for $70K right now from multiple dealers, or even less with a larger lease incentive. So in practice this are more like $15K apart. Don't get me wrong, I asbolutely love the Rivian. It's got better range, larger screen and better UI, air suspension, better off-roading and more cargo capacity. But the Kia has CarPlay/AA, paddle-shifting variable regen control, LCD rear view, much better driver asst, second row captains seat option, HUD, physical buttons for climate control, more useful fixed steering wheel buttons, and a drivers massage seat, among other plusses, and nets about $15K cheaper in the real world.

And within 3 years it sells for 56% of its original value. I have an 8 month old Toyota Sienna Limited for $55k, currently they are giving me $57k for it at Carmax. bmw/audi/merc? lol. so basically ICE brands that cost a bomb at the garage and you spend more upkeeping? While i don't think EV are the best future, at least KIA is pushing for progress, plus the 7yr warranty kicks sand at those traditional ICE brand models.

There also a full review I. The video description as I mentioned. This was second time with it and wanted to share real world experience after a week with it. Actually can’t stand listening to my own voice. Who does?😂
