2024 knitting goals and intentions | Yes I know I'm late 😂

I usually have 8 wips: 2 socks (1 dk, 1 fingering), 2 garments (a sweater and a cardigan/summer top), 1 blanket, 1 accessory, and 2 gifts. I usually focus on two of them at a time, but I like having several wips, so when one is finished, I can pick up the next without having to make a lot of decisions. I also like being able to grab something to take with me for without having to do prep work.

Wow it sounds like you found the perfect combination of wips! I really like your wip set up and it feels quite similar to mine, so that's fun! Yours it way more thought through tho 😜

Hi Fem! So fun to hear about all your goals! I don't really have specific knitting goals for this year, except for trying new to me yarns, learning how to do colourwork (which I'm currently working on) and just have a lot of fun! I used to be a monogamous knitter but now I like to have a little bit of variation and more alternatives avaliable, and my current sweet spot is two sweaters and a smaller, easier project, like an accessory, which is also more portable🥰

As for my colorwork project, I'm working on the Haze sweater, which is actually a free pattern from the knit purl girl. I'm using some yarn I had intended to use for the Salty days sweater actually (still on my list😅) but its gauge wasn't working with the yarn so I had to frog what I made. So I'm repurposing the yarn for this sweater but I've altered the colorwork chart a bit cause I only had a single skein of the contrast color... it's an experiment but I'm having a lot of fun making it😍

I always have many, many WIPS - I don't even count socks because there're always at least one pair on the go 😅 Personally I find it's best to have WIPs in different weights, I knit a lot in 4ply but I find it a bit hard on my hands when I'm working a lot on those projects. Having some DK and aran projects to hand is good when I want a change. This year my main goal is to actually work through my Ravelry queue - I've decided to commit to using Ravelry to organise all my projects, so I have a queue I'm quite excited about and hopefully I will make progress over the year!

Yes!! This is something I experience too! I’ve been working on my boyfriend zipper sweater in Sandnes garn peer Gynt which is more on the rustic side and I love to alternate working on that project with a smoother yarn project. I also tried the Ravelry que but I change my mind to often for it to work for me 🤣 Have fun making 😄❤️

If you end up casting on the arctic light sweater maybe we could do it together like a mini make along. That's my next project! I'm a monogamous knitter. I enjoy having one project at a time and seeing that project grow and cast it off as fast as possible so I can start wearing it lol. I loved the mood boards!

Oeh good to know! But you know that I’m anything but a monogamous knitter so you’re going to be way ahead of me for sure 😂 if I make it, I think I’ll bring it over to next fall since there’s probably no way I’m going to able to wear it before that time here. The weather is already getting more towards a spring temperature here 😄❤️

How long can something wait on the needles as WIPs before it is considered abandoned? I’ve got 2 that are about 11 or 12 years old, but I cant bring myself to frog them! 😂

I’d say as long as you want 😉 but how amazing would it feel to finish to long wips or do something else with them 🤩
