I notice in TSPs power kits, they include a bpr8eix, as it's the sweet spot for performance etc, so I thought I'd try it, stock br7es to bpr8es, ran a little better, improved throttle response down low, from chats from NGK going from a non, to a projected tip is equivalent to adding 1-2 degrees of timing, maybe what the exc/xcw needs!. So went the TSP medium head, which is similar to stock compression here in Oz, so much improvement. Can't wait for tune.

I was not sold on the radiator cap at first either and I’m a 28 year auto tech. Use your left palm, push, and spin. Way easier. Haven’t messed with my idle yet as cold idle then riding it seems to have it working well for now. Would like to see what you’re doing for idle adjustment compared to what they say with a scan tool.

Morgan I have a new '240 300 XC-W and I think I'm going to pull the trigger on the same TSP setup. I ride at about 3,000-5,000 feet in the high desert area in SoCal. I'm about 245lbs with gear and came off a 300 XC. My question is medium VS high compression head? If I go high compression (I'm leaning that way due to my weight and riding style) can I run our weak-ass 91 octane Cali gas with out any issues? I absolutely do not want to hassle with race gas!
@highlandcycles3 ай бұрын
Yes. You can run 91 with the high comp no problem

As a carpenter, love the 25 heavy! What could I expect from putting this head on a 14’ te 300? Worth it?
@highlandcycles4 ай бұрын
I think so. The bump in compression and better head profile will really help with power delivery. I find that it lets me run a gear higher everywhere which helps me keep the bike settled and suspension working better

Have you checked the base setting on the throttle position sensor on any of your tbi bikes? I finally did mine after its been spooging and running rich even after the tsp tune. It runs great now! My base setting whith both idle screws backed off was .426 volts and it should be .400 volts. I just used my Fluke multimeter rather than the special tool and it worked fine. Im thinking this would make a great video.

@@highlandcycles One tap goes to the yellow wire and one to the black wire located behind the TPS protector cap... You can use a paper clip as the tap, stick one clip down into where the yellow wire is and one clip into where the black wire is and then connect your meter leads to one clip each. Picked up a 24 300 xcw to use for riding in TX, AR, and CO. Mainly use it for easy trail riding and connecting trails for day long rides. No racing. What head is recommended? Medium or High? Oh boy! Before I came across you I bought the Slavens mule high comp head for my 24 XC 300 and switched to the 7 heat range plug. I haven't had any problems knock on wood but I don't like hearing there is a possibility. I need a head for my 23 XC 250 and will be calling tomorrow to get that and some other stuff ordered. I am curious why it does not seem anyone recommends to highest compression head? I am riding at 6500 feet all the way up to 12k. In my sleds I ran a lot of compression with a little race gas and loved the responsiveness. Will catch up tomorrow and hopefully get everything figured out.

Just wondering now that you’ve ridden 300’s with the TSP head and RK Tek heads, which one do you prefer and can you tell different performance characteristics between the two. I currently have the RK on my 2019 300xc and wondering if the TSP head would be worth a try. Thanks
@highlandcycles Жыл бұрын
For my normal and favorite riding I like the TSP better on the TBI bike. I ran an RK TEK on it and on my 2018 and they are really good but the TSP is just easier to ride while still having lots of power. The RK is just explosive. Which is fun but a handful in the hard stuff.

So mine has 50 hours on it, i got a rktek insert which was a huge disappointment. I honestly cant feel any difference. When i pulled the oem head there was a big chunk of buildup on the plug. Thinking seriously bout sending rktek back, i assume running tsp's high comp u have to run big gas? Im between 1000-3000ft above, i really dont wanna have to run race fuel. Mine is extremely fat on bottom as well, when riding alot of tight/technical its actually difficult to keep it clean an crisp. Smokes like crazy in these scenarios
