I've never seen Sarah skate before, nice to be introduced to someone new. Very well edited music, appropriate choreography and costuming overall, a good package. She skated with attack and confidence. Be interesting to watch her program development as the season progresses. Thank you for posting this.

I really, really enjoyed this! It's nice to see an American girl who can complete her jumps without pops or falls, and can keep up with fast paced, complex choreography. If she can keep this up, she will be on the podium at next year's Nationals. Love the costume, too. Well done

It helps that her coach is Ilia Malin’s parents but provided a good environment to learn a good jumping technique…now she just needs to feel the music and display some emotion other than just concentrating on the technical

Firebird such a classic but risky choice and man she delivered .Look at wonderful jump technique she lifts into the air what a change in today’s skaters .She was wonderful everything was there I dotted etc .I wish Sarah the best and old skating geeks like me it’s so great to see a suprise something fresh and beautiful Bravo!

Wow! This is such BIG music to skate to and Sarah is actually skating up to it. Echo the other commenter's that she needs to give face but actually her body movement is expressive and she has constant speed throughout. It's EXCITING to watch

The music of the Firebird demnds a lot of energy & Sarah definitely seems to have it I was exhauster just watching her but she's definitely a rising star for the USA.

I would have needed oxygen after that program...she kept the speed and energy throughout. Love the music, Fire Bird was a classic in the 70's and 80's...

Overall this was a great skate. Her jumps are beautiful, just stunning technique. She has time to grow in performance and gain confidence on the ice. When she does she’ll be absolutely sensational.

First time I have seen her. Was exhausted just watching her but great program and the jumps wow. A little stone faced but I am sure with time this will soften. Really think she will give Isabeau a challange.

Choreography could definitely be more thoughtful and well suited to her- not her fault. Like imagine being a choreographer, seeing her execute that move at 4:17 and saying “great, let’s keep that!” 😑 But I’m super excited for her and what’s to come! She’s super special and is already a huge asset to US women’s figure skating.

I love her pointed toes on her triples. They elevate the look in the air. Reminiscent of Sasha Cohen’s technique, but the jumps feel more stable and secure.

That's some mighty big music... Gracie Gold 's brilliant Lori Nichol Firebird from 2015/2016 is hard to match... Dorothy Hamill too in 1973/1974 Skated to it.... it's good.... but she has to become the Firebird! Good for her... she's growing up!!

Promising skater. She's lovely on the ice with her longer limbs but she's going to have to learn to control them and execute her movements with finesse--she's a bit sloppy and all over the place right now, but that can be fixed. Not much performance in this program (again something that can be worked on) but she got the job done. Overall she has a good base to build on. She has a lovely triple lutz (with a good OE) but in order to be competitive in a deeper field she'll need a combo harder than a 3T-3T. Nicely done though! Crazy to see Americans going 1-2 at any international event so this might be a good sign of things to come this season.

She needs to not be so stone faced when skating and give more to her programs but a US lady who can jump like this is going to get good scores and go places. Now can she back this up since she's not going to be a underdog from now on and will have pressure on her to do this again.

It may come with time and experience, also different people have different expressions. Her body movement is very expressive. I'm sure you woudn't leave such comment on a performance from a man :)

How exciting and refreshing to hear a strong, classical piece of music again! Tired of all those moody, pop songs that rarely create an impactful program. Very difficult choreography and great jumps. Yes - she needs to engage her face, as others have mentioned.

Don’t know why everybody on previous threads has been lukewarm when it comes to this program. I’ve seen tons of people skate Firebird but I’ve never seen a skate like this. She told a little of the mythological story associated with a piece of music. And I love that she ended the program with spin combinations spirals split jumps etc. possibly because the story of the Firebird is the story between a magician who falls in love with a Firebird and in the middle of that become so obsessed with her that he Traps her. On the crescendo of the music, it is assumed that the Firebird finally decides she’s had enough and breaks free of her captor. The moves she does at the end of the program really highlight this. And let’s be real, everyone who has skated to Firebird uses the same piece of music and almost exactly the same order… At least she changed it up a little bit and started with the slowest part towards the beginning of the program. And almost everybody picks red when skating to this piece of music hence the Firebird, but if you take a really close look at her costume aside from the color it does it really look like crazy girls costume although it does have hints of it, but then how could you not? So excited for her this season! Good luck Sarah.

nice Fireduck - just really small things and gaining a bit more confidence. Kept energy and attack all the way through. Def breaks the Gold jinxes but the Gold Firebird is really hard to beat.

Really nice, solid jumps. Need to perform the choreography with conviction - The choreographer and coach should be working that aspect of her performance daily. If she can relax her face and smile during the performance like she does while waiting for the scores in the K&C area then that would really help per performance too.

@@ГалинаПугачёва-у4к Well I would like to see her smile or at least have a relax face. True that I don't know about the story behind firebird, but I don't need to know about it to judge what I like and don't like in a 4 minutes competitive skating performance.

this seems very similar to Gracie gold. its not a copy but the choreography , music segment choices seem too close. Great Jumping though

A lot of the choreography is taken directly from the ballet, so that’s probably part of it

Impressive skate and especially beautiful second half three jump combo, but I feel like most of her choreo has nothing to do with what the music is doing
