I hope this doesn't seem rude, but I'm wondering why they'd do a lumpectomy for stage 4 disease? Clear margins would seem to be pointless, as the "cat is already out of the bag" so to speak.

Not rude at all! My previous video explains this a little more, but the current treatment I’m on is working really well in other areas of my body and the cancer is shrinking. The only place my cancer was still growing was in my breast so we figured it would be best to remove it. We’d love clear margins because we’d love to remove all the cancer that isn’t responding to treatment

Cancer treatments have improved. This vlog is a testament to this. This stage IV patient has had a child and is going on quite well. See the previous videos explaining how some very careful decision making has allowed Samantha to live with metastatic cancer -- for years. In sum, as she explains, with Stage IV, the breast was never the focus of the treatment as it wouldn't have made a big difference. Now that a breast tumor is back, it is being excised.

Hi Samantha and Gray. I have to be truthful. I wish and pray that you could be done with this whole cancer thing already, so the two of you could get on with a normal life. @@SamanthaL Just a suggestion, have you tried ivermectin, zinc, and Hydroxychloroquine? There are a lot of YT videos out regarding cancer patients taking them with positive results. Your doctors probably won’t prescribe the ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine, but there are reputable sites you can order it from. Ivermectin can be found at like Tractor Supply and other animal feed stores. It comes in a paste. You just have to make sure you get the right dosage for human consumption. If my breast cancer comes back, I’m going to try it before anything else.

Prayers always! I am almost a year from my diagnosis of rt side DCIS and left side ILC. 5/24 I had a dbl mx surgery for DCIS and atypical lobular hyperplasia in both breasts. Was surprised when a 4mm invasive lobular carcinoma was found in pathology of my left breast too. I am older, the ILC is more common in older ladies, over 50.. It does not show up in mammograms until it is large, runs in a line, no lump. Had diffuse DCIS so was unable to have a lumpectomy, but blessed the ILC was found early. I am so glad your surgery went smooth. You are so blessed with such a supportive husband and a darling baby. God has you in His hands!

Same as what happened to me in my early forties,in the U.K. mammograms are for fifty & over,I found a “flat”area rather than a lump,nothing showed up on a mammogram & & neither the surgeon or the oncologist could feel the area.Thankfully I had a good go who referred me.

I’m so glad that things went well today! I will be praying that everything comes back good. You are tough! I just had my central line replaced last Monday and it was done under general. Because of my gastroparesis I have to be intubated for anesthesia because it puts me at a higher risk of aspiration. Twilight doesn’t work for me anymore because I’ve been on all the big meds they use for awhile. You are so awesome, and praying for you!

Wow! That's a large incision (mine was even noticeable. The doctor sometimes have to ask which breast she did surgery on!) I'm glad everything went well, and I hope pathology is good news!

We thought about it but don’t think they’re necessary right now. I’d only really be worried about it if she tried to go somewhere else in the house and tried to get into something. Right now if she leaves her room, she always comes straight to ours. Plus, we have a monitor that will tell us if she gets up

Sounds like it couldn't have gone any better! Good attitude, good support, quick procedure. I'm so glad it went well and is over. Here's wishing speedy recovery and good results. I have a question though...how does the surgeon differentiate margin tissue? Do they put the tumor in one "container" and then take margin tissue into other containers for testing??

I'm praying for an uneventful recovery and good news from pathology. It's hard having to recover with a toddler. Good luck, Little Mama, and thank goodness Grey is there to help. I had to chuckle when you said your little girl likes to come in and have her second snooze with Mama and Dad. My kids all did that and like yours, they were very uncomfortable to sleep with - how can one small person take up a whole bed, I ask you?

Hey have you thought about getting a heated mattress pad? They are a bit pricey but soooooo worth it. You can set your level of heat and Gray would have his own dial to set his preferred temp. It is so cozy and puts you right to sleep.
