I've seen this first-hand. When I was 3, if my parents hadn't kept searching for answers, I would've died. I kept vomiting, sick, and poor balance. The doctor wouldn't do anything about it. He said it was a virus, but it was stage 4 cancer! If my parents hadn't of went to Children's Hospital, I wouldn't have made it. Moral of the story, please take patients seriously!

My 24 year old daughter went to her doctor with bloated symptoms and abdominal pain. The doctor told her to lose weight. A year later, after no relief and a CT scan, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Ovarian Center. After two years of surgery and repeated sessions of chemotherapy, she passed away at the age of 26. Had the first doctor taken her seriously, or at least sent her to emergency, she might still be alive today.

Doctors don't play games. I have several doctors in the family, and they take every patient seriously, they just try not to make patients panic. But medecine is not an exact science, it's very complicated, and the life of a doctor is very stressful.

msinvincible2000 Hi it isn't ok if doctors are guessing you know cancer can be a death sentence if not treated early enough.Doctors have a responsibility to treat people with respect and fairness. Wheres the fairness if symptoms are mis diagnosed by doctors. It isn't rocket science making sure that the individual doesn't have cancer and to be honest being diagnosed with cancer too late because doctors miss the symptoms is heartbreaking and stressful especially if you have children its a double punch in the gut.

Jonathon Britten To be told that you have only months to live is horrendous especially when you have children and it took me a couple of weeks to get over the shock tbh! I then starting researching how to make my immune system as strong as possible whilst I recovered from having a radical hysterectomy due to my having stage 3 endometrial/ovarian cancer. I started with the chemotherapy which of course made most of my hair fall out and then went on to the radiotherapy after which I told that I was cancer free but that it would quickly return and that would be that. I chose not to accept that and started drinking a small glass of fresh organic celery or beetroot juice every morning cutting sugar completely from my diet and eating healthy foods. I also had regular reflexology and Reiki sessions to calm me and keep me in a positive and calm state of mind. I literally THOUGHT myself better and would lie on my bed with my crystals hanging on my windows with the sun shining through them making their colours fill the room and imagine them removing any cancer from my body. I’m sure some people will scoff at all this but this is exactly what I did and I am still cancer free after 17 years! Give it a go people as the mind is the most powerful tool we have😊

Miri Am For your daughter: Number one: NEVER GIVE UP HOPE - yes you are in a scary, vulnerable and dangerous position but you CAN come through it. You have youth on your side which is a good thing but positivity and the idea that cancer IS beatable is utterly crucial so try your very best not to let scary and negative thoughts consume you which is easier said than done I know☹️. Number two: Buy a good quality juicing machine and every morning have a small glass of organic celery or beetroot juice -plus other fruits and vegetables. - not too much as it can give you wind. Cut out sugar completely and not too much dairy but fish and other heathy nutritious foods are a must. Just a small plateful is fine as I know that loss of appetite can be a problem. Number three: SPOIL YOURSELF if you feel well enough and if possible have a few Reiki sessions - once a month is fine as I know these therapies can be a little expensive plus reflexology which will calm you and focus your mind on getting better. Number four: buy one or two good quality crystals and hang them in a room which gets the sun then spin them around so they catch the light and fill the room with their beautiful healing colours then lie down and imagine the lights are moving through your body and destroying the cancer. This is precisely what I did for the year it took me to complete my treatment ie surgery, chemo and a little radiotherapy. I am thinking of you my darling and sending you love and positive thoughts - I KNOW that you can beat this. x

My wife had the same stabbing pain. As she was growing up she would tell the doctors and they would pretty much ignore her. She dealt with this pain until she was 40 years old. Always mentioning this pain she had to each Doctor. No one found a thing or took it seriously, as usual. At 41 years old, my wife was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. It started in her uterus. My wife passed away at 43 years old. No one listened to her.

My best friend died of cervical cancer that spread to her bladder and kidneys. She kept having pain on and off for several years but refused to go get checked because she was afraid. I begged her to go but she refused. When she got so bad she could barely walk and could not urinate she was admitted to the ER. The cancer was stage 4 and already spread. On her death bed she kept saying she wanted another chance to live. Ladies please get your yearly checkup. It could save your life!

I was told 4 years ago that I had a cyst the size of a golf ball on it. But have since had 2 ultrasounds of the area and my doctor can't even find my right ovary. Only the left. I had a dermoid cyst 2 inches big removed that was encapsulating and crushing my ovary. I hope the doctors can find the source of your pain.

I’m 19 and just had a laparotomy done two weeks ago. I had bloating and gained 10 pounds a few monthes back. My weight had always stayed consistent but I thought the weight gain was normal due to quarantine. My stomach looked like I was pregnant. So we went to the doctors and they told me it was my eating habits and constipation. I had that diagnosis for three monthes. Until my mom pushed for an ultrasound. They found a teratoma the size of a small watermelon at 20 cm. It was benign and I’m recovering from surgery. Always push for your health and if they don’t listen find another doctor that will!!

Or Doctor was not understanding book an appointment with a different doctor! Most OBGYN offices will not allow you to change to another dr within their group. So it's not as easy as saying next dr please. It's changing offices and all that goes with records being transferred, etc. I agree though... go to another dr.

My granddaughter was diagnosed at 8 years old of germ cell ovarian cancer. She went thru every treatment available. She was a great fighter and never wanted to give up. The doctors gave up on her. She passed away in Nov. of 2021. She fought for 13 years. RIP my sweet angel Emily.

It took an entire year for me to be diagnosed with endometrial cancer. I feel so blessed to have a doctor who believed me when I said I had pain. She kept doing tests, she kept asking questions until we finally found it. She was such a blessing to me and was there for me emotionally. If I go to a doctor and they say oh it’s probably nothing and don’t want to run tests and are not equally concerned about your health issue, I walk out the door and keep looking. Make sure you find a doctor who wants to get to the bottom of it and doesn’t downplay your symptoms. I trust my doctor and she has the same concern as I do. She will orders tests, ultrasounds, MRIs right away, she doesn’t mess around with her patients’ health.

Great video and yes, no matter what age or how young, cancer doesn’t discriminate. I was diagnosed with Uterine Cancer at age 24. It can and it does happen so all women need to get their yearly OBGYN Pap and screening completed. My story is very similar. The full and bloated stomach. Primary doctor and ER doctor not listening and calling it a cyst that will eventually go away. My blood levels were out of wack. Having surgery and having a very massive germ cell tumor that had spread to other areas, surgically removed. I was diagnosed with stage 3C ovarian-teratoma cancer. I’ve gone through several rounds of chemo and have had 5 surgeries but Today Life is Celebrated and I’m grateful I had my children before the age of 29. The journey was tough and is tough for many but if you just keep pushing and fighting through it, there will be sunshine coming through the dark clouds.

We, as women, know our bodies! I had a benign tumor the size of a grapefruit on mine that was was dismissed for almost 6 mos bc of my age (25). I finally went to a different doctor who immediately requested an ultrasound followed by surgery. 3 years later I thought I had appendicitis. I was sent home saying it was a bladder infection. 2 weeks later when the pain got worse the surgeon said he thought it was "phantom pain" from my ovarian surgery. It was cancer in my appendix. LISTEN TO YOUR BODIES!

I had to go 4 years without preventative care when the recession came and my husband lost his family farming business. Many family farmers in our area went bankrupt. Because we had our old family homestead and a few acres left I couldn't qualify for any programs to get a free pap smear, pelvic exam or mammogram. One elderly man in our community said that he was told he had to sell his truck and cemetary plot to get government assistance. It angers me when people who don't need the help scam to get it and people who genuinely need it go through hell to get it.

It’s to cover their own asses honestly. If they say “may be cancer” people start freaking out and if the test comes back negative some people get mad like “ how dare you scare me like that” and try to sue.... I read a couple stories in the news. I was diagnosed with cervical cancer a few months ago and they were super vague when they talked to me so I already knew they suspected it they just didn’t want to tell me till they had the test as proof. I’m really good at reading people so I already knew even though everybody kept telling me not to get upset till the test confirmed it.

I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer at age of 12. (Now 22) I had a 10lb tumor on my left ovary that somehow all my pediatric doctors missed. My symptoms included: - excruciating abdominal pain during menstrual cycles - heavy bleeding -fatigue -constantly feeling bloated - bowel issues, constipation - my menstrual blood had a smell as well (Sorry TMI) Symptoms are very similar to pains during menstrual cycle. It says a lot about our medical system that her concerns were repeatedly and routinely ignored or played down. That ER doctor and her decision to go to the ER saved her life. Women are too often dismissed about their health concerns. "Oh you just need to lose some weight." "Oh that's just the way women's bodies are." They have put so little in to the study of a woman's body that they don't even know what to look for when it comes to something serious. They treat our bodies like a magical mystery. I am 40 years old and am currently going through the same. Everything you are describing is exactly how I feel. Just over a year ago I had to spend 3 days in the hospital for severe pelvic pains. Since then I have gone through so many medications and testings....lupron, gabbapentin, high dosage penicillin, ultrasounds, ct scans, xrays...nothing helped. I have a complex cyst but nothing done about that yet. Now after a year my doctor wants me to go see an oncologist. I have so many other symptoms and I know something isn't right. We have to be our own patient advocate. I was told I had melanoma, after having surgery which left me incapacitated for a few months and 2 scars I was told they found no cancer. Then the wound was not healing so dr told me he may have to amputate. I removed bandages and it started healing and was healed within 2 weeks. I kept telling the dr all the wound needed was oxygen to heal. Most doctors are greedy. Thanks for sharing this video and God bless!

It is SO important to listen to your body. I had a similar experience with a ovarian cyst that was the size of a small melon and weighed 3 pounds. I had been complaining about a heaviness in my lower abdomen and sharp pain during intercourse for several years to 5 different doctors. Not one suggested an ultrasound. Every one explained it away. Finally, one night I couldn't urinate and that lasted for two days until I finally drove myself to the ER. While in the ER they discovered the cyst. I had a catheter inserted and was sent home with a referral for oncology. After a few tests it was determined that my cyst was not cancerous, but I had to have a partial hysterectomy. I have my ovaries, but no uterus. I know much of what you have gone through minus the chemotherapy. You are correct about the advise of listening to our body! Please ladies do not ignore your gut feeling. Keep asking for what you need until you get what you need. I'm glad we both survived and hope our stories will fortify others to take their health seriously. We are the captain of our ship! Never forget that fact! Thank you for sharing your story.

I was 64 when it ended for me. I've been overweight most of my life and I'm short. I started my period when I was 15, had a baby at 16 and from then on always had a really heavy period; think wearing 3or 4 heavy days or overnight pads for years. Then one day after I'd gotten out of a nursing home for a non-related incident I started spotting again. Been home 3 or 4 months after Christmas and I started bleeding very badly even worse than a regular one I was used to having. I bled down to a 3 volume of blood maybe just enough to allow my heart to beat. My husband called the ambulance because I was too pale and I hurt all over. I had a DNC and a appointment was made for me to an oncologist. Had a complete hysterectomy on 9/11/18. Lived for two weeks depressed and on edge. I had cancer but it was all removed. Didn't have to have chemo. Coming up on 2 years but, my heart meds made me lose most of my hair on top of my head. I have CHF with a side of AFib. Still dying but DAMN I enjoy everyday with my husband and Lab Sadie. You'll get there. And the hair meant nothing, it was that beautiful survivor staring back at you in the mirror.

Good video. My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer 10 yrs after it started showing on mammograms. She was 78. They told her it was nothing, then something small, then in 23 lymph nodes and cant treat. She fought for aggressive treatment, 7 mos of chemo and radiation. They said it will come back and wont treat a second time. She did treatment and it never came back. She lived to 93 and was still working out at gym 2 days before she passed. I'm glad you pushed for answers. It reminds me to get to my own physical and colonoscopy cuz my insurance messed that up last year.

The one recommendation I can give to anyone, is being an advocate for your own health care. If you think something is wrong Don’t Stop! I also have lupus which took them 12 years to diagnose. I flatlined in the hospital elevator and still they were like oh you’re fine. I never stopped fighting and I’m here today. Next week‘s going to be just another challenge that I will get through. I got my first ultrasound at 29.. Just a chocolate cyst (endometriosis).. Second ultrasound at 30.. "nothing but dermoid cysts".. Third ultrasound like a month later.. Similar story. I kept advocating for myself. ER first round benign. 2 years later ER visit again, ruptured cyst (10cm), which I was in pre op stage, and they told me the same thing, "oh it will dissolve on itself". .. I said nope give me another laparoscopy. Long story short it was stage 1C ovarian cancer. 6 rounds of chemo. 5 years in remission as of now 🙏.

Karlie Marshall You are 100% correct about doctors factoring age. I was told by a former gyn that “it’s probably just pcos and it will resolve itself.” My primary care doctor was floored by this response and referred me to another gynecologist. Then he gave me a firm lecture of not sticking with doctors that don’t listen to my concerns. His exact words were, “It is pure laziness and unprofessional for a doctor to make a diagnosis without testing. If a doctor sends you away without testing with an issue unresolved, never go back there.” When you’re under 50 years old and you have cancer it is considered rare but rare does not mean impossible.

Thank you for sharing your story. Continue the courageous fight. Both my mom and sister died from ovarian cancer. One of the signs to watch out for is bloating in the stomach. Also, ask the doctor to do a blood test called CA125.

It took me about 3 years of solid research, several doctor's appointments, various MRI's and ultrasounds to FINALLY find a doctor to identify with my pain, understand, listen, recommend and go through with it. Thankfully I wasn't in a situation where my condition gave me a very short while to live. I tell ya..... some of these doctors today you have to wonder. What med school did you go to? Terrible. Glad you survived and so many others will have the strength to hang on and trust themselves.

I have had an ovarian cyst on my right ovary for now 6 months. My gynecologist prescribed me birth control and said: see you in about 7 months. That was 2 months ago, and I’m still in extreme pain with horrible side effects. I called her and my next appointment is March 23. Praying for the best. Praying for you.

When I was in college I didn’t have insurance and I went to the clinic at my college complaining of sharp pain in my lower stomach. The doctor ran some blood test, palpated my stomach and told me it’s probably my intestines digesting food. Problem is I believed her and lived the next five years ignoring ny pain. Eventually I went to the doctor again and told them something is wrong. As soon as they did the ultrasound you could see the 13 cm dermoid cyst and I was scheduled for surgery. I am so thankful it was benign but that first doctor made it so I stopped listening to my body. Listen 👂🏼 and don’t take it’s nothing for an answer.

Same thing happened to me. My doctor just told me to do more core exercises when I complained my waist was expanding for no reason. I changed doctors and she ordered an ultrasound that revealed an 11 cm cyst.

My grandmother died from this at age 53 back in 1985. I'm so glad that women are more in tuned with their bodies today. My grandmother had been told that she was just "constipated," because she had IBS. DOCTORS didn't listen to her until it was too late.

Younger people, although rare, can get cancer too. Performing cancer screening tests for it to come back negative is better than not performing any tests at all.

Thank God you and I survived this! Listening to your story was like listening to sound bites of my own life. I survived ovarian cancer TWICE! because I didn't allow the doctors to ignore me like I experienced in the past with my polyp and fibroid. WOMEN... they say ovarian cancer is a silent killer... IT ISN'T!!! LISTEN TO YOUR BODY!!! My breast were sore for months, I had stabbing pains in my lower abdomen and pressure on my bladder. I made an appointment when I finally couldn't make any more excuses up in my mind. I went to the doctor regularly. I had a pap just a short time before I made the apointment. I remember my doctor saying that my period would be coming soon based on what she saw during the exam. At my appointment, they told me it was kidney infection. They prescribed meds but the pain wouldn't stop. I went back to the urgent care and the doctor read my previous results and said I did not have an infection in my kidneys. He pushed down on my stomach and the pain was unbelievable. I had been telling my husband that the left side of my stomach looked bigger. But since I was overweight it probably looked the same way to him. I followed up with the gyno like the urgent care doctor suggested. I went to the same doctor that performed the surgery to remove my polyp and fibroid that took him months to find. But he had an opening and I desperately needed help. He said, don't worry, I'm sure you're fine. We looked at everything just 2 yrs ago and I didn't see anything. I insisted that he do a pelvic exam because I wasn't leaving until he did. So he performed the pelvic exam and he felt it right away. He said something is there! He ordered an ultrasound. I remember the tech putting the wand inside of me for about 3 seconds and then excusing herself to speak with the doctor. He sent me down stairs for blood work. I remember looking at the paperwork with the lab orders. It said 125 cancer screening. The test came back negative. When I returned upstairs to speak with the doctor, he said it's probably just a cyst. No need to worry. He will remove it and we will move on. Surgery came. Surgery ended. I just recall home walking into the room and saying IT WAS SO BIG!! After a month of Waiting on pathology reports, the doctor called. It was 8am on a Friday morning and he wanted me to come on the following Monday. There was no way I was gonna survive the weekend. I insisted that he tell he what was going on. He finally called back and told me that I "had" cancer but it was removed and I would be fine. I found out I had a rare ovarian cancer that only 5% of ovarian cancer patients get. It only returned 10% of the time! Just 10%!! The odds were against me becau se 1 yr later... CANCER WAS BACK!!!

When I had to have a hysterectomy with removal of my right ovary, I talked my doctor into removing my left ovary as well. I felt that it was the best so that I wouldn't end up with ovarian cancer later.

When it comes to your health and your gut feeling, always, always, ALWAYS get as many opinions as you can. Drs tend not to beleive patients. I almost died 3 weeks after giving birth. I went to several drs and the er and they all said I was just having anxitey... turns out I had congestive heart failure..I almost died the drs couldnt figure out how a 28 year old could have CHF. I fought for my life and was in ICU, hooked up to every machine, they had taken so much fluid from my lungs and told my husband and family I would've died if I hadn't come in to the er that day, but I still had a 50/50 chance. Ironically that same staff made me take 2 valiums to help with my anxiety since I had just given birth 🤦‍♀️... I knew that after taking those valiums i had to fight to keep myself a wake or else they would walk back in and find me dead. So always always get a 2nd or 3rd or 10th opinion. Don't ever give up on yourself or loved ones, fight for your health.

I was not quite 21 years when my baby was born at 32 weeks, unfortunately she died soon afterwards. I was so ill that I couldn’t move, I was vomiting, my head and chest were always pounding, my Doctor insisted it was ‘just’ grief. I too had congestive heart failure and a post partum infection that almost killed me.

my mom passed away when i was 5 years old in 1997.. she was 37 years old and she was in stage 4.. so ovarian cancer is very scary to me and should be taken more serious

I am so glad that you are alright now. Bless You, to shave your head was awesome, because that was your way of preparing to battle! When I was 24 I began feeling an unusual pain and pressure in my abdomen. My doctor said this “ oh you women and your imaginary pains”. So I went home believing I was okay. The pain and pressure in my abdomen grew worse as weeks passed. I was working full time and raising a child. Then one night the pain was sending me to a coma like condition . My sister came over and tried everything in her natural medical book to comfort me then took me to emergency next morning. I had an ectopic pregnancy and an ovarian cyst the size of a grapefruit. So Yes, listen to your body! Thank you for sharing this, you may have saved some lives. ❤️

My Mother had noticeably lost weight and a year later felt bloated very often. No pain. She was full with cancer, it was horrible. My girlfriend had a small rash on her left breast nipple. Her doctor said, “oh it’s just a rash.” I got her butt into a better doctor in a Portland and sure enough she had breast cancer in her milk ducts.

One thing ive learnt during illness is that you have to be your advocate. If you feel you are not being listened to, then speak up for yourself. You are the only one who has your own back so to speak.
