As an Aussie… that was so good to see - he’s the reason I got into windsurfing. In the late 80’s / early 90’s pubs and clubs would have a TV somewhere showing a compilation of extreme sports… surfing, skiing, skydiving, moto-x, and …JP! Good to see him happy and looking so fit ready to charge!

So great to see a (rare) interview with Jason. Your relaxed unpretentious interviewing style Paul is managing to get the best out of people. Well done on all your content - you're absolutely killing it!

A big thank you to Paul for contacting Jason... I don't think there's enough of this kind of content on the internet and interviews with all these legends. It's always fascinating to know their stories, the best anecdotes, in short, to get to know them a little more than just on video. I hope to see more videos like this :3

Man, this is just fantastic. Thanks, Paul, for letting us peek a little at our hero's life. I listened to your voice, and I think it is the first time I have heard you in awe like this. JP such a one-of-a-kind guy. These blokes come into life once every half a century. He was the aspirational ultimate wave rider for all of us. The one that showed the most extreme part of our sport. And now being able to see him so healthy and down the earth is humbling in a way. Also worth noticing that he only mentioned Braw (a few times), so is the true successor. Of course, different style, different era, but certainly the best right now.

Jason is still the king for me and this interview with him makes your channel escalate hugely with windsurf cred. Big up to you Paul. I am not a fan of his soundtracks but there is no denying his star quality, being the only sailor in his wave sailing vids. I rented a Strapper slalom board at Torquay, it was a rocket. Jason rocked up in his Holden ute, rigged and threw a forward loop off the first wave!

I used to watch the comps at Torkay in the mid to late 80s. One day there was no wind so Robbie did a water skiing exhibition just to keep as all entertained. I remember the wild winds gear too. I learnt on a bombara tri fin then thankfully migrated to glass custom wave boards and strapper slalom boards. Jason was going off around the west coast but I lived and windsurfed the east coast so didn't see enough of him.. Enjoy Maui mate! Hope you get some wind and decent waves before you have to come home!
