Hey Paul, you have such an easy natural interview style, the subject really feels comfortable to just be themselves. Keep 'em coming!

Kai is a massive legend. He's like the Lisan al Gaib of wind & surf sports, but he is still so down to earth and connected to people. His style is sick and I love that he's making windsurf wave boards that look like he's surfing. His style is unique and amazing to watch. Thank you for making all these epic videos Paul!

Kai looks to be such a nice guy. A true windsurfer for that. I'm so glad you asked him about how surfers like jjf sees windsurf and I'm even more glad of his answer. You 2 are legendary legends ❤. Maybe you could invite him in Gerald town?

Great series of videos Paul. Nice idea of yours for a longer series - could call it "Windsurfers in Cars getting Waves". Got a feeling it could run...

Well done Paul. Imagine how many new people would come to the sport if you could get the scoop on John Florence learns to windsurf?! That would be epic 😎🌊🤙
@martijnwind1798Ай бұрын
This was a really epic episode Paul! Also the coach at the end and the final shot from Kai on the water. The RIP movie with the famous last words of Robby: 'Book your tickets now, the wind and waves of Hawaii are waiting for you'. That made me decide to get an extra job for 6 months to get enough money and go to Maui in 1997.

Haha, very funny the reenacted RIP scene at 'Taco Bell'... A good interview and great to have an insight into Kai's life and his way of thinking in terms of board and sail design. It would be super funny to invite Mr. Naish for an interview at his favourite Taco Bell restaurant. 🌮🔔😄

Thank you PvB from the cold north of Denmark. I love to watch your videos. I have followed you since your Gerroa videos. I lived at Towradi beach back in 1988-90 and used to go down to Gerroa sailing with "Warren One knot" and others. I saw Jason Polakow at the Marimbula classic back then, I think he was 16 or 17. Since then he has been my hero. Love your story telling from the Aloha Classic, it's been amazing to follow, Thanks.

Awesome interview and video Paul. Great to see Kai going back to where Windsurfing boards started. I still have a Strapper wind"surfer" from the eighties. Flat sharp nose, wide body and rocker between the feet and a pin tail with obligatory eighties fluro colors to match.

I hope that you're about to complete the holy trinity of interviews, Paul. Could US1111 be next? I've had my issues with your sound tracks in the past, but I'd like to say that you are currently on FIRE! Really enjoying this. However, some of the first "short boards" were basically surf boards with straps and a mast track. For example, the first Naish short boards had very little volume and utilized tip to tail rocker and thruster configurations-not to mention swallow tails, pin tails and rounded pins-all derived from surf boards. I also believe there was an Ozzy brand that used a quad set up. What's old is new again? Not so sure. Nonetheless, loving these interviews with the sports current stars like Kai Lenny, and we are so lucky to have him as a pro windsurfer AND such a well spoken steward and ambassador for the sport. He has brought sizzle and star quality to windsurfing once again not unlike the mega stars of the 80's and early 90's like Naish, De Rosnay, Eskimo, Winner, Dunkerbeck et al.
@windsurferАй бұрын
@@glisse_1 very good point Glisse!! I may have the opportunity to interview Naish and if so I’ll ask him if I remember!
@glisse_1Ай бұрын
@@windsurfer My first short board was a Naish 9'6" swallow tail with thruster configuration. That was the spring of '84. Robby Naish was my idol. I believe it was shaped by Harald Iggy too. It was a sweet turny board but I think I was running too much fin. It loved to hydroplane in high winds. I was just learning how important fin selection was. I soon went to a 9'0' Hi-Tech slalom board single fin with more volume resulting in a better lake board although I still wish I had the Naish today because it was so beautiful. Such great memories!
