Com'on dude.. I live with this car everyday and I know how it drives and it s amateur. They said it s not rocket scientist to build a car these day and truely at Mazda they don't have rocket scientists!. The 2.5L atmo is a decent powertrain but it is mated with a woeful automatic transmission gearbox. It s an AI nightmare when the Mazda dude needs to reset the software 3 times and still it coudnt learn anything! It spends more time hunting for the correct gears to engage than actually driving. Slow and sluggish around traffics. Even more terrible on an elevated road as it took forever to get the right gear. Down shift gears takes forever so you ll get caught in the wrong gear to overtake a bus. Think of how you put your bicycle in a highest gear and start pedalling see how fast can you go! This car will just skip all the gears and so it s free spins no gear no power😢. You risk an accident for a P plate driver. Despite glossy well designed interior yiu ll hate every minutes spending in it. It s lousy engine note whining like a old rental car. Cabin vibration as it is caught in the wrong gear in corner acceleration. Despite Skyactive and other jargons stop start, flat bottom aero dynamic it s damn thirsty for a small car 480km/full tank and never goes past 500km mark. The Mazda guy tried to sell me that I need to use premium98 or it s nothing to be alarm of due to traffic conditions. My old bom Toyota Aurion could do better mileages than this piece of garbage!

I recently bought a demo model Mazda 3 Evolve with the 2.5 litre engine. It has a few quirks that have needled me a bit (the radio switches on whenever you turnover the engine and that can't be stopped and the I-stop system will sometimes not stop the engine for some reason) but overall I just LOVE it! It goes like a cut snake, especially in sport mode. The warning systems are not too intrusive (but the reverse sensors and cross traffic alert system are not quite as good as the ones on my VF Commodore) and the car is comfortable. Being naturally aspirated you need to keep revs high to go quickly in the car but that's not hard as the engine likes to rev. For those dropping down to a four from a straight or V6 the power delivery is not as slippery smooth and effortless but, jeeze, it's a lot of fun! It's also a stylish buggy, for sure and that "soul crystal red" colour is sublime (my car is the same colour). I don't have kids now so the back seat tightness is not an issue for me. The rear vision is not great but, hey, the car is a real head turner. The only other niggle is that silly system which tilts the driver side mirror down when you reverse...I don't like it but I am now used to it. Word of warning to all. If you only drive sporadically and leave the car unused for a couple of weeks you will find that the I-stop may not work unless you go for, at least, a half hour drive. The car uses a lot of battery power and it the power level is a bit down I-stop becomes a little cantankerous. Many people dislike I-stop systems so if you are one of those it won't bother you (to prevent I-stop you have to switch off when you first start the car but it will turn on again at the next start). Also beware that when it comes time to change the battery the stop-start batteries for these sorts of cars are pricier than your average high crank battery. As to you two blokes. You are a breath of fresh air in the car reviewing space. I love your antics, your obviously strong friendship and your honesty. I look forward to every new video you post. As an old fart, I find them enormously entertaining. If I owned a tv network I'd be hiring you for a car show like "Aussie Top Gear." I would, however, call it "Two Blokes and a Car." Best wishes to you both. You make an old man happy. :)

Funny dudes. Good reviews. Pleas don't lose the humour down the track. I also suggest having more than one perspective about cars. 95% of reviewers are car nuts have that sporty dynamic handling perspective but customers vary widely in their priorities. Some people prefer softer suspension for daily commutes or have small families and want a gentler ride. That's my 2 cents.

He Mazda 2.5 4 Pot matched to that 6 speed auto is by far the most reliable engine - transmission duet on the planet. From personal experience you can scrub virtually all comparative offerings from all of VW, Audi and Mercedes's and any Mazda will surpass the German marques in terms of driver satisfaction, reliability, price retention and overall quality. Mazda in my humble experience outperformed all other marques in terms of the appeal of its models for the past 2 decades.

I’ve owned vw, Kia, Opel, Toyota and fiat cars and the Mazda’s beat them all in terms of the mix between driving dynamics, interior quality and reliability. At $2.20, that’s 6,800ish L of fuel… at 45L a fill (roughly a full tank) and 1 tank a week (you drive a lot I guess) that’s 2.9 years (almost 3 years) of fill ups before you even do 1 fill up in the Corolla Hybrid to get to the same price. As fuel prices rise this math favour Corolla more and more but $15000 is a lot of cash…

G25 Evolve Sp, exactly like this one here but 2023, except it has a lot of these "facelift" upgrades mentioned in this car you're reviewing. Wireless charging pad, USB-C charging ports in the arm rest and I think wireless Apple Carplay/Android Auto, just no touchscreen for the 10.25 inch display... I think. I am so confused, I don't think any other 2023 G25 has these but this one that I'm going to buy does.

Isn't the rear visibility a dealbreaker for a daily driver? It looks sportscar bad. Maybe as a second car, but seriously, is it safe with that small a window? Wish they made a hatchback. This is more like a sports car.

Some of those features that I dont have in the 2022 version I am fine without for now but in the future that might be a nuisance. Kinda wish I went with 180+hp rather than 155hp. Dont want an automatic though.

Hard to say, in China, no this version of Mazda can be bought, only the 2023 model, no touch screen, the screen is also the 8 inch version, before it is not said that the touch screen is not added for safety considerations, how come it is added now? To put it bluntly, it's still an excuse to cut back.

@@mochamanii7401 nope, it does not. I don’t have a wireless charger in front of cup holders, and I only have 2x USB A ports in the middle console (under the arm rest), they are not USB-C. The build date of my Mazda 3 will be around March 2023, I picked it up at the end of May 2023.

@@mochamanii7401No worries. Mazda refreshed the Mazda 3 around mid-year and the refresh has a bigger screen (which is also a touchscreen when you're not moving), USB-C and wireless charging. There was also a price increase. I would say that the refreshed model is still classed as a 2023 model. Maybe the models manufactured after a certain month this year have had the model year incremented to a 2024 year model. So technically, those extra features were added mid-year refresh (2023) and onwards, if you know what I mean. Just my speculations though, hope that helps.

Almost 7L/100km - I'm out. That would've been impressive 20 years ago, but today? The Honda Civic eHev averages about 5L/100km for the same sort of horsepower, and is more practical, and is just as good or better to drive.

From France: Hi, I have a CX-30 AWD but I'm waiting for my new Mazda 3 because I wanted a smaller, lighter car and I wait every day for my dealer to call me to tell me that my Mazda 3 is waiting for me LOL. Above all, take your Mazda with all-wheel drive (AWD) because not only will you consume less fuel by maintaining the trajectories but you will no longer be able to do without it.

I've gone from bored to frustrated to nearly spiteful that Mazda won't (actually) update the 3. CX-30, and CX-5. The facia of the the CX-50 is a perfect evolution to utilize, but they instead reserve that for ANOTHER SUV in a roster of 8 vehicles where 6 of them are SUVs and you can hardly tell one apart from another. I'm in the market for a new vehicle and refuse to even consider Mazda because I don't want to buy one and then end up with buyer's remorse if they suddenly debut actual updates.

Love Mazda & own/drive a 2022 CX-30 Crossover, but I'm not of fan of the Mazda3 hunchback bloated styling towards the rear from most angles & even the sedan looks a bit off overall IMO. A sporty-trim Mazda2 actually looks better than the Mazda3 IMO, but sadly Mazda won't offer it in the USA because most Americans only like bigger, fatter, bloated vehicles. But, I would still choose a Mazda3 any day over the latest Civic, Corolla, Forte, Elantra, Impreza, etc.
