Turn that feature off in the winter. Forgot about it and double tapped the start button on fob ,windows shoot all the way down , filling front and back seats in cab though ly after 1st snow storm of the season at 6 inches. Learned this lesson the messy way

On my 2023 model - which I love, overall! -- I hate the lane departure feature. I turned it off using the push button on the lower left side of the dash and got an Off icon showing on the instrument panel. But as soon as I turn on cruise control, it goes off, meaning that Departure Lane warnings are still working. The dealer said this was standard. But... For about two months, it stayed engaged even with cruise on! Loved it! But now it won't do it anymore, back to like it was originally. I must have done something that allowed it to remain on with cruise. What? I have tried a lot of different techniques when using that Off button, but I haven't found the magic set of steps to allow the Lane Departure warnings to remain off with Cruise on. Do you know the secret?

@blacktreecko it may disable the vehicle once the door opens to prevent theft or other safety features. I am aware that Hondas remote start will stay on until the timer turns off or it's disabled. The vehicle will turn off if you shift out of park gear if you don't turn on the vehicle but have a fob with you when pressing on the brake and start push button.

Yes there's a TPMS and don't recall if it's a direct or indirect system.

I test one on the lot and it works. I may have to play around some to see why it wouldn't work and make a video for it. I would attempt it again today just to see.

I just bought a 2024 cx-5 preferred in black, very happy with the purchase. Some of the complaints like tech and infotainment system I actually like more, much easier for driving when you get the hang of it. Might be a good time to grab a 2024 with 2025's coming out, some dealerships around me offering good discounts

Even though I miss my 2016 Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring, which is the top trim for it, I’ve planning on getting the CX-50 2.5 Turbo Meridian Edition for my mom because her 2006 Toyota Camry is getting old, outdated and having transmission problems. Also, does the CX-50 have better warranty for parts replacement as the CX-5?

yes, you can activate touchscreen in motion in the settings menu. Go into the bluetooth section and select your particular phone and the option will be there. It was there for android auto, I assume car play is in same place.

How can I make my Mazda alert me that I forgot my key inside when trying to press the fob to lock the car? My car alerted me before, but now I can only know that my car key is inside when I try to press the fob, and there is no sound.

The vehicle should alert you if you walk away with the FOB while it's on and running. It won't alert you walking away with one FOB and a second FOB in the vehicle while it's off, it will allow you to lock the second FOB inside the vehicle with the first FOB while outside of the vehicle. Now sometime the vehicle will alert you with beeps when it doesn't sense the FOB when you walk away. For example, my wife keeps her Honda FOB inside her purse, and it's buried. So, the vehicle doesn't know if the FOB is inside or outside of the vehicle when she walks away. So, it beeps then as well. I hope this helped some. I would test this out more but I'm no longer with Mazda, back with Honda again.

If the battery died preventing you from opening the door with a keyfob, and you use the mechanical key to get in, you still won't be able to start the car...

If your key battery is dead, you can still start the car. There is an unpowered RFID chip in each key fob. To use it, press the start button with the top edge of the fob, instead of pressing with your finger. Voíla! Car stars! Boom!

Funkoattic is right, there’s a near field emission of some sort in the fob that isn’t battery powered, just hold the fob up to the start button
