People complaining about this system. I’ve had my beautiful CX5 for 6 months and love it. The settings are easy to work out, radio is easy, navigation and Apple music is very simple through Apple CarPlay with voice commands.

They are making radio controls more complex on all Asian cars it seems. But Mazda wants to make it an enigma.

We picked up new cx 5 today...Wife & I are mild mannered civil people. The info center and nav (we have nav, card) turned us into real potty mouthed frustrated & po'ed people. Your video helps but would love to see a complete how to video on this system . Mazda owners manual doesn't even have a "N" section to look up Navigations in Index!!! Hope we can find help on YT. Thanks for your video

If you don’t have a navigation card, just connect your phone into the USB socket in the center console. Turn it on, it charges automatically. Nav and phone available!

Citing safety concerns as the driving force to not include a touchscreen doesn’t make much sense to me. You will be glancing down A LOT as you learn the button placement. This forces you to take your eyes completely off the road. The touchscreen is high enough that had they included a ouchscreen, a side glance would be enough to operate the screen and still see the road. Having said that I’ve now had my CX 5 for a few days and I’ve become much more comfortable with the system. But I will say that I’m technically inclined and I spent a lot of time fiddling with the controls. Someone like my wife however, has no patience to play around with the quirks of this system and she would hate it. Biggest recommendation I can make so far is to populate your favorites list ASAP. This will allow you to quickly access the list with a single press of the star button. Hard to believe Mazda thoroughly tested this interface across a wide range of ages & abilities. Love the car otherwise buy ya, what were they thinking?

Thanks for the tutorial. I don't like it though, in a test drive I found I was looking down to find the buttons. I guess you would get used to it, I prefer a touch screen

Anyone knows how to only see the time display on the info screen? Mazda cx50
@danschubring7957 Жыл бұрын
I’m having a little trouble “saving” the settings. Once I’ve made the selection, it doesn’t lock it in even when I push down on the controller knob. Also, if I shut off the radio before I shut off the car, it doesn’t stay off when I restart the car. Suggestions? I like my CX-5, just having minor hitches as I adjust to it.

How do you set the home address? I go to "home" in favorites. It tells me that it hasn't been set and asks me if I want to set it. I enter the information and I think that I'm all set but I then go back to the home button and it still says it hasn't been set.

Mazda needs more... how to the usb ports for audio and video? that is a mystery. My point: Are they only for connecting the phone / CarPlay / Android Auto? or Can I just use a memory stick with music files (mp3) and listen to my music?

Yes you can do that just connect it to carplay port not the charging port

I was so glad when I got rid of my Mazda with this terrible screen control system. It's a complete abomination. I traded it for a Toyota. WHAT A JOY! I can now do everything in 1/10 of the time and much more safely. Also, unlike Mazda, you can shut the lights off anytime you want to. Off on the Toyota light switch really means off. Mazda makes you look like a sissy by driving around with your lights on during the daytime, which two government studies have shown does absolutely nothing for safety. It's just a decoration.
@markaydelotte8663 Жыл бұрын
Absolutely the worst design for safety and usability...and I'm speaking as a CX-5 owner. The problem is when you have to look down to find the right button and the control dial. Then you have to use the dial to scroll down through the kludgy Mazda menu structure. The whole system deactivates when the car is moving so the touchcreen is unusable. VERY DISTRACTING. Just look at how many times in this video the camera had to look down and back up; that glance away is enough time to run yourself off of the road or worse. My wife's Hyundai Kona, in comparison, is a joy to use with a touchcreen that actually works while you're driving. It even has a heads-up display with additional nav and basic settings and warnings. We like the CX-5 overall...great handling and solid build quality but the infotainment system is no bueno.
