hi Thy! how did you structure your responses to be concise while answering the question? specifically: - How did you sum up your anecdote, and phrase it so that it supports your answer/claim? - How many anecdotes did you use per question? - When is it appropriate to use an anecdote, and when is it not? (some panel interview questions seem deceptively easy - e.g. "tell me about your favourite movie" --> do you need to get into some deep reflection for this? lol) - Any tips on preventing repetition and having a clear logical flow? thanks!! i have my first round of interviews in the same week in a week and a half, so i'm getting a bit stressed and nervous...

hi Chaewon - big congrats on ur first interview offers! yay! i will get back to you early next week - in the midst of upcoming exams
@hellothysworld Жыл бұрын
-ngl i think i naturally structure my responses bc that's simply how i think, so didnt really think much about structuring and concision -didnt really overthink, i just said what came to my mind and made sure i answered the question. i like to answer questions in dot point structure in my head -depends how many anecdotes the question asked for. otherwise just 1 -haahhaha for the deep movie one i reckon you can say anything as long as it's not something like... the human centipede you feel? dont overthink too much; i think you yourself know when it's appropriate - chuck anecdote in when it makes sense otherwise itll look like you're throwing anecdotes in for the sake of it -just heaps of practice + change the way you think - so structure ur responses into dot points in ur head and follow them. good luck with interviews! hope to see you in med school next year!

what atar did you get/what atar is realistically required for med/dent? thanks in advance
@hellothysworld3 жыл бұрын
i got a 97.95 which is pretty low for med. as for atar for med/dent i think it depends tbh but very broadly speaking 99+ is usually solid (keep in mind this is just me guessing haha + you can absolutely get in with a lower atar than that OR fail to get in with a higher atar than that). youll have to think about ucat + interviews too. also, unis have diff requirements so i suggest you read around 📚 wrote this in another comment before but if youre interested in stats regarding marks for those who received a unsw med offer for 2021 entry go to 27:24 (selection rank) + 29:53 (ucat) on this vid: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fXWuaXppebqEjdk hope that helps & best of luck with your studies!

Hey I was wondering what type of volunteering you did or helps with applying to med as I'm in year 11 and I'm currently volunteering in a charity shop but I'm not sure if it needs to be more related to health to help with any interviews? Thanks for the video!
@hellothysworld2 жыл бұрын
hey Maria, volunteering in a charity shop sounds great! i think the point is to show you bring something to the table outside of academics bc everyone who gets into interviews mostly passes the academic threshold. so u can talk about the skills youve learnt, any lessons and how these skills may be applicable to medschool. if possible, would be good to also show interest in medicine eg work experience, shadowing a doctor. i volunteered as maths study group leader in year 12 and did some local volunteering as piano accompanist for years. i genuinely enjoyed doing this and i think it shows, so make sure you convey your passion as well. i know St Johns Ambulance is a popular volunteering thing for people who are aiming for med but at the end of the day i think it's all about being genuine and doing things not solely for the sake of application, which you seem to be doing so well done! let me know if you have any other questions!

My son’s preference is WSU in Campbelltown. We live very close to the campus. Can you be please share your experience with their interview process? Also, do you receive the acceptance of all these universities in the same day or week? I’m asking because what happens if you say Yes to one University and two weeks later you are accepted in the University you really want to study. Is there enough timeframe to have all your available options to decide what to do? Last question. In your case Why UNSW and not WSU? Thanks again. Great video !

@antananarivo201 i had a group presentation today but that's done so i can try answering your questions now! 1) exp w/ interview: pretty sure i signed an nda for wsu so i cant give away much here. it's an mmi-style interview (so not a panel interview), so there's several stations. if you google 'mmi interview' it should bring up some useful links for you! otherwise i might make a video about MMI vs panel interview 2) so for the nsw unis you will generally receive 1 offer per round via UAC (if you've gotten accepted. if none of your preferences have accepted you then you wont receive any offer that round). things might have changed so double check using the UAC website. keep in mind you can apply for interstate unis but you will use a different system eg for UQ you will use qtac, so it's possible to get an offer for a nsw uni and interstate uni during similar time periods (eg i got my offer for unsw and uq within the same week) 3) i chose unsw because in 4th year you get to do a whole year of research (ilp or honours). also i liked the unsw environment more (i went to the open day) + i personally liked interacting with the unsw medical students more. i found unsw to have alot more extracurriculars both non-med + med societies, which was important personally for me bc i wanted to have balance in my life. that being said, other methods to evaluate which uni you would hypothetically pursue is: bonded vs unbonded, the number of years the degree is, home state vs interstate, cost eg full fee paying like bond vs csp places like unsw, wsu, newcastle hope that helps!

@@hellothysworld My true question: When one got top scores at UCAT and ATAR (Selection rank) and got offer, how does one know he/she is good/bad at interviews?
@hellothysworld3 жыл бұрын
@@csho303 this is a generalisation but you can get top scores for ucat + atar and still not get a med offer, which suggests that you are not performing well, or "good" at interviews. ofc, there are always exceptions. it seems like you are wondering if i am good at interviews - i can't definitively answer that for you because we do not know our interview performance (ie we are not given our interview mark). however, my ucat + atar was relatively low compared to other applicants who received an interview offer. from this, you can infer however you like. does that clear up your query?
