2024 Mercedes AMG CLE53 Coupe Comes With 443 Horsepower

Mercedes-Benz is set to release the all-new 2024 Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé in the United States, marking a significant update in their vehicle lineup. This two-door model masterfully blends the agility and dynamic driving experience of the C-Class with the spaciousness and prestige of the E-Class. It is a fresh take on the entry-level performance coupé category, aimed at enthusiasts seeking both performance and luxury.
At the heart of this coupé is a powerful AMG-enhanced M256M 3.0-liter inline-six engine. Turbocharged for remarkable performance, it delivers 443 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque, with a temporary boost to 443 pound-feet for short bursts. Mercedes estimates that the CLE 53 can accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in just four seconds, with a top speed limited to 155 miles per hour.
The engine boasts significant improvements, including reworked combustion chambers, updated inlet and outlet channels, new piston rings, and an enhanced injection system. It also features a larger turbocharger that increases boost to 22 pounds per square inch and incorporates an electric auxiliary compressor. Furthermore, the engine is equipped with a second-generation integrated starter generator, integral to the car's 48-volt mild-hybrid system.
The transmission is managed by the AMG SpeedShift TCT nine-speed automatic transmission, efficiently directing power to the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system. The vehicle is equipped with substantial brakes, featuring 14.6-inch front brakes with four-piston calipers and slightly smaller 14.2-inch rear brakes.
A standout feature of the CLE 53 is the standard rear-axle steering. At lower speeds, the rear wheels turn opposite to the front for improved maneuverability, while at higher speeds, they align with the front wheels to enhance stability.
The design of the CLE 53 is striking, with wider front and rear fenders that broaden its stance. The front showcases the signature Panamericana grille flanked by LED headlights, while the rear end is equally bold with four round tailpipes and two-part LED taillights linked by a dark red strip. Standard wheels are 19 inches, with 20-inch options available.
Customization options include the AMG Performance Studio Package, offering enhanced aerodynamics and styling, as well as AMG Night and Carbon Fiber packages. The interior features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a separate 11.9-inch infotainment screen. Standard upholstery includes MB-Tex/microfiber with red stitching, with various leather options available. An AMG Performance Seat package adds sportier seats with enhanced ventilation.

It feels more like a C class than an E class

Great point, but much longer than a current C class. My wife has a ‘22 AMG C-43 coupe and compared to this model, it’s substantially different in terms of price, size, etc, the list goes on. I think Mercedes went overboard and will lose a lot of potential customers that looked at a C class. My wife said she’s definitely keeping her current car.
