Hi thanks for the video. My XML data is in the worksheet via the developer tab. It's been months and I can't remember where my XML source is located. How can I find the file path to the original XML source from within Excel?

Unfortunately, Excel does not store the file path of the original XML file once the data has been imported into the worksheet. The XML Maps will show the structure but not the source path. However, you can follow these steps to check if there's any reference to the original XML file within the workbook or use Excel features to try to locate any possible source information: Check XML Maps: Go to the "Developer" tab on the Ribbon. Click on "Source" in the XML group to open the XML Source task pane. Click on "XML Maps..." at the bottom of the task pane. This will open the XML Maps dialog box. Select the XML map in the list and click on "Edit...". Check if the schema might give you any clues about the source. Review Workbook Connections: Go to the "Data" tab on the Ribbon. Click on "Connections" to open the Workbook Connections dialog box. Check if there are any connections related to your XML data. Sometimes, external data connections can give you a clue about the data source. Check Named Ranges: Go to the "Formulas" tab on the Ribbon. Click on "Name Manager" to open the Name Manager dialog box. Review the named ranges to see if any are related to your XML data. They might contain information about the data source. Inspect Document Properties: Click on "File" in the Ribbon. Go to "Info" and then click on "Properties" > "Advanced Properties". Check the "Summary" and "Contents" tabs for any notes or details that might reference the original XML file. If these steps do not provide the information you need, you may need to manually search your computer for the XML file. Here are some additional tips for finding the file: Search Your Computer: Use the file search feature on your computer to search for XML files. You can use keywords that you remember or the date range when you last worked on the file. Check Recent Files: Check the "Recent" files list in Excel or Windows Explorer to see if the XML file is listed there. Review Email and Downloads: If the XML file was emailed to you or downloaded from a website, check your email inbox or download folder.

what if you want the xml file to be imported as a text separated per cell by comma?

You would need to change the XML data first. PythonScript makes working with XML data quite easy, because Python’s standard library has great XML support.

Hi there, sorry you're having issues. Here is a recommendation from us. Try editing a table in Project to show the columns you want to import, make sure there is relevant sample data then save as .xlsx from Project. This gives you a template format so make sure your Access columns have teh same names etc, which you can do in the View.
