Loved your WIP parade it's number one 1. I made a train sampler for my son when he was 3 years old.His passion for trains is still part of his life today.His train sampler has been up in every place he has ever lived in. He is now 36 and it's hanging in his apt he shares with his girlfriend.

Honestly, I’m not sure my daughter is going to love any of the dragons, t-rexes, beholders, vipers, crocodiles, mimics, tarantulas she wants me to stitch for her right now when she’s older. But those stitches will always remind me of how devoted she was to monsters at 5 - and I’m ok with that 💜

Omg I watched this in a span of 3 days and forgot what I wanted to comment but now I remember! I actually have a cross stitch that my mom made me when I was like 12 or something and yeah of course I was a brat and didn’t appreciate it. Now I’m 35 and this cross stitch is hanging up in my house as a center piece lol. So your kids will appreciate it eventually.

This was ONE mighty fine WIP parade y’all! 🤭 Excited to see part two as well. I hope the lipstick came out of Adia ok! When I was finishing her in 2021, I dropped an open sharpie pen on her! 😱 Luckily, it was right near the bottom where she’s got vines around her dress, so I added in an extra vine and a few leaves and managed to cover up the sharpie mark. Whew! 😂

OMG so glad that worked out! I couldn’t find the stain when I got home so my red really blended into the orange of the fabric when it dried 😂😂😂

I have used a lighted magnifier (floor model) since I was in my early 30s. I've worn very strong glasses since second grade. A high quality glass lens with LED lights is a game changer for 40 count and up. I took my work, light, entire set up with me to my optometrist and got a pair of stitching glasses. Worth it. I have one or two of those WiPs (LotF and WfS in the Mira stash)!

The only thing my youngest son ever asked me to stitch for him was humongous. A life size Monopoly board. I finished it when he was a teenager. He took it with him when he got married the first time and it's still on his wall after the second marriage and he is well over forty.

Stephanie - I have two boys so I feel like I can speak on what boys like. LOL My youngest son grew up watching Toy Story and Cars…of course! He is now almost 17 years old…so old! LOL He really surprised me in 2022 when Buzz Lightyear move came out and he disowned me as a mother when I went to see it without him. LOL When I told him I did not think he would be interested - he told me it was nostalgia! He grew up watching Buzz and Woody and he absolutely needed to see the film. So very long answer made longerrrrrr…..He may not enjoy it today, but if there are god memories and lots of love with the item - he will always love it.

You know I just got all my floss organized by the dmc color card and I was shocked! I thought I had a full set but no no, I had a lot but not even close I still need 145 more to have a set! That’s not counting the newer ones either! I went well darn! Love them all ladies and I would love to see some Cinderella’s and 🐉 dragon stitches come to life soon😂 blessings

I don’t have a full set either. I have been stitching since about 1975 and have never needed all the colors so I’m thinking that I personally don’t need them all. I’ll just keep purchasing as needed.😁

Your idea of the health issues for crosstitchers is great. Maybe there is a chiropractor and/or physical therapist that you know or is in your vicinity who would be happy to after advice. I am neither (former teacher) but I recommend both of those from experience to help with one’s health. I have arthritis and stretch my hands, neck, and shoulders and while it is anecdotal I’m sure it helps. Perhaps it’s a Silver citizen idea but I do know that musicians use both of them to keep their hands etc healthy. Thank you for your hard work in making videos.

The fabric for the "Moon Glow" is very pretty! Ooh, I like the poisonous plants...but stitching on black ? Maybe a mottled gray for me :) Love your earrings, Allison! :) They are onederful 😆 ❤

I'm also not a fan of Wichelt! There are so many other nicer fabrics to stitch on! I have pumpkin House and like to think I will start it in the Autumn so will keep an eye on Allison's progress for some inspiration! Happy stitching to both of you!

I went to a retreat that had an occupational therapist who talked about and had some us practice exercises for our hands, wrists, posture and some other things to consider. It was good. Maybe an occupational or physical therapist in your community would be willing to join your flosstube.

Love a WIP parade! As for sharks, all I can say is that when it is shark week my 50-60 ish neighbor stays home glued to the TV 24/7. He totally came back to his little boy love of sharks in middle age. (That probably wasn’t helpful, but I thought it was funny.)

There is a book I had once (Crazy Patchwork by Janet Haigh) and it has a baby quilt you made and include any cross stitch or hand embroidery you make/have no matter how small. My goal is to take my late mother's FOs and my FOs i meant for my "baby" (who is now a teen) and make a display quilt/hanging with it all. Enjoyed part One and looking forward to part two.

I've learned that I also do not like Wichelt linen, but unfortunately it is what is most commonly available in my area. I find that the weave is too loose for me most of the time, and I just feel like it isn't thick enough.

I have always been the queen of being off center on my fabric. I used a calculator, tape measure, corner square measure thing and I am never ever ever centered on the fabric (I start lower right or upper left corners). So to solve my problem I now use a piece of fabric twice the needed size and whala! no stress of being off center anymore 😂😂😂

For my son (9) I try to stitch pieces that are more timeless. ie: Jack Frost Tree Farm. My son’s name is Jack so I have removed Frost from the pattern so it can hang in his future home. Hopefully a future spouse will appreciate it! I have stitched him some specific bookmarks, Dogman and FGTEEV that he appreciates now.

Do you have any tutorials on how to get paper patterns to work in Markup? I really REALLY hate paper patterns but i have STRUGGLED to get even scanned patterns into Markup so I can track them easier

FWIW, my husband is still very fond of space stuff, even now (and he doesn’t work in a field that is related, so it’s not that). So maybe if you stick to more… realistic space stuff it’s more likely to stay meaningful to boys? Maybe? I mean I’ve stitched my husband a small Galaxy piece for last Christmas, the Saturn V rocket blueprint for his birthday, a retro shuttle poster type image for next Christmas, AND I just discovered a James Webb Telescope mystery SAL that is amazing and will have to be a future present too.
