My sister bought a new one in 2016. Got her through university, tough northern winters, many trips across the country, even more ski trips up in the Rockies, and while needing absolutely nothing outside normal maintenance. The engine Sounded like bolts in a blender cold, but was still rocking at 162k. She was sad to trade it in. Really served a purpose for many who needed an inexpensive car.

It's easy to ridicule the Mirage. It's slow. It's noisy. It handles poorly. However, cars like this were a dime a dozen 30 years ago in the U.S. and they sold well. Remember the Geo Metro and Hyundai Excel? Some people only need cheap wheels to get around. We have gotten so spoiled as Americans by quick, quiet, well-appointed, and BIG economy cars. People just take on more debt and finance for longer nowadays. In Europe, cars like the Mirage still flourish. I bought a Mirage new in 2014. I was in a pickle and needed to buy something quickly on a very tight budget. At $13,300 out the door, it was a godsend. It got me everywhere I needed to go, cheaply, for 4 years and 56k miles. Thanks for a good honest review of their car and reviewing it for what it is. After owning 3 Mirages a 2015, 2017, 2021 all purchased new and my co worker owning 3 Mirages a 2015, 2019 and 2021 she still owns. Not 1 issue with any. Great lil cars with hybrid level MPGs, 10 year warranty, tons of features, and cheap to own and run with a basic reliable engine. Either go with the base model ES or the top trim SE. going with this Black Edition trim is kind of a waste when the top trim SE is almost the exact same price but you get push button start, keyless buttons or door and trunk outside, led headlights, fog lights, premium multi color back lit gauge cluster and heated seats. So again either get the base ES trim or the top trim SE. i know the top trim SE is harder to find but if you can scoop one up. I drove 3 hours to get my top trim 2015 Mirage, 1.5 hours to get my 2017 top trim Mirage G4 and 1 hours to get my 2021 Mirage top trim. They do great in the snow as well living in the tristate area of MD-WV-PA where we get snow during the winter I can attest to that. I can hands down say of all the new cars I have bought I have never bought the same car twice until the Mirage and did them 3 times lol. I currently own a 2023 Nissan Kicks SR Premium top trim I bought new in October 2023 cause I needed something a lil bigger and could not pass up the deal I was offered. However there are alot of days I miss my Mirage and if I could go back I probably would have kept my 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage SE or traded it on a 2024 Mirage G4 SE even though it would have been the same as the one I owned. I do absolutely love my Kicks though and all the features its just the Mirage has a uniqueness all its own you cant explain until you own one or several and experience its reliability, fun nature, hybrid like mpg, loads of standard features, and that neat lil buzzy naturally aspirated 3 cylinder engine makes it so unique like the modern day Chevy Metro lol.

Yup! Some places have a lot of dealers, like Florida, and California. But my aunt lives in Bullhead City, Arizona, and her closest dealer is in Las Vegas, Nevada, 120 miles each way, 240 miles round trip.

These were truly affordable in 2014-2021 when commonly $3-4000 off MSRP. I nearly bought one in 2020 for $10,000. I can’t imagine over $15,000 for one of these! I’d buy a Sentra discounted.

This is a great option for a new, economical vehicle. We don't get the saloon (sedan) in Canada I don't think. We just have the hatchback. The saloon looks better in my opinion. However, the Nissan Sentra has a 5 speed manual which I would take over any CVT

Wow why did they stop making the Technicas from the 2000s, the two-doors that you put a KN filter on and it sounded beautiful, standard of course

I love the Mirage. I remember my dad got one as a rental. He hated it. I loved it. They're so basic they're fun. It's not for everybody, and I like 2nd rate things. I really love the Mirage. My wife would hate it, but I'd totally rock one, even as an old fart.
@cristheojon488428 күн бұрын
Sadly the US doesn't seem to be the right market for the Mirage G4. This is a popular car to have here in Southeast Asia, for my country specifically, it's the Mirage G4 and the Vios (Yaris sedan in other markets) are the ones keeping sedans alive.

I wish you guys wouldn't shit on this car. yes, its cheap. Yes, theres no power. Yes, the interior is cheap. Why is it a surprise that its slow? Not everything is about speed. This is a great car for a college kid

Just got one about 2 weeks ago brand new my first new I have owned i really like i personally prefer it over the versa only because long term it doesn't have as much to go wrong over the Nissan. cvt? Maybe i heard good things about it on the mirage so only time will tell but overall i do love it

It's interesting how many people demand low prices for vehicles, but when brands release an ultra-affordable model that meets those expectations, they criticize it for being "ugly" or "too small," and in the end, they don't even buy it. It seems they forget that to offer lower prices, companies must optimize costs and prioritize functionality over luxury or design. You can't have it all for a low price; it's just common sense. If we want affordable options, we should also be willing to appreciate what they offer within their price range instead of expecting a Rolls Royce at the price of a scooter.
@16BitOG29 күн бұрын
Wasn't there a whole movement of people upset over the price of new cars? Meanwhile this, the versa, and venue exist? I swear, you can't be poor and picky. Gotta pick your battles.

I got one new in 2022 july the car asked only for fuel and regular maintenance...other than that its still running great and its very roomy at back as well and if you are into dirt cheap vehicle that wont break the bank and hasle free look no further!
@GalenlevyPhoto7 күн бұрын
We rented the hatch version from Enterprise, man the car is slow as molasses but has great gas mileage. It's pretty small as well. It does not idle smooth, you can feel the engine vibrating at idle because of the odd number of cylinders.
@HiTechBoy96Ай бұрын
I like the hatch more than this one

Me too. It has more usable cargo space with the seat folded.

Well, we obviously know the title is inaccurate…. Did you forget America also sells the Nissan Sentra, Versa, Kicks. Or for more reliable alternative subaru Impreza for I think 22,000 starting in US
@CarConfectionsАй бұрын
This is the only vehicle in America that ALL trims are under $20,000. Only some trims of the Versa are under $20k. Every Sentra and Kicks begins above $20k.

I see a lot of y’all in the comment section telling your positive experience or story with this car. I think we are missing the point here. Anyone can compromise and live with what’s available at hand, right? We did just fine back when we don’t have these nice things without complains. But what’s not okay is, when people just like you, can enjoy something that you can’t have. For the money to buy one of these tiny basic cars, you can get a used car with so much more features to enjoy during that few years of your ownership. It makes absolutely no sense to have yourself stuck with it and keep telling yourself “I’m okay with it I can survive with the car just making it great choice”.
@LatinLegacyNYАй бұрын
This car screamed two door model. Sucks that they never capitalized on that but that's modern day Mitsubishi for ya. They're on their way to becoming Suzuki soon when it comes to the states.
@tim3172Ай бұрын
100000000000000000%. Non-sports car coupes are so popular that you can buy what? Three? in the US? The Merc E/C class coupe and BRZ/GR... which is the same car. The A5 is discontinued. The Challenger is gone. I'm sure Mitsu could have made it work as every sane manufacturer stopped producing cars that sold in tiny numbers at a massive loss.
@JDMSwervo2001Ай бұрын
Cheap cars like these are kinda in a weird spot cuz there’s other vehicles you can find for this price that are better like a Camry, accord Hell even a Lexus LS if you’re looking for luxury
@cheesesandwich123627 күн бұрын
Its a basic car for basic driving. The haters are the morons that going into debt buying some fancy car thinking it impresses others. They can't stand it that others drive around on the cheap.
