I can see the draft moving more towards “ready” players (physically, IQ, skill) over potential. With the harder salary cap teams are less desiring to develop players versus cheaper players who can play a role immediately from Day-1.

Depends on where in the cycle a team is. Bad teams have no reason not to gamble on upside. But I can see teams like Houston who are just starting to get in the going more for ready made players over projects, even if they might need more talent just due to the new salary rules

ESPN having Clingan in the top 3 just seems like it’s not right to me. Can’t get behind it. Such a weird draft
@pheralanpathfinder48976 ай бұрын
Probably a combination of click bait and March madness hype. Clingman could be a capable backup center but has zero upside. Good choice for a playoff team that needs a backup center.
@BucsDucs995 ай бұрын
To be fair, none of these guys would be top 3 in a normal draft. Ultimately, someone has to be ranked high. Clingan feels like maybe the most pro-ready prospect in the class and drop coverage seems to be gaining in popularity this season even though everyone still likes the idea of an all-switching team.

@@BreathingRoomx Iguodala had incredible feel for the game even at Arizona. Ive seen no proof that Holland thinks the game even at an average level for a guy his age. I like Ron's intensity but that can only get you so far. He has bad tunnel vision on his drives. Once he's locked himself into doing something he lacks creativity if that is shut off. If his comp is Iggy and there is still a long way to go, im just saying thats not somebody you take at the 2nd pick. Love your content, but having Clingan over Risacher, Castle, and Williams makes ZERO sense to me. I also would love to see a playoff-ready team swoop in to grab Knecht, he was born for big moments! Simply do not see it with Holland. The only G-League prospect in history who has worse shooting numbers than him (not just 3s, all jump shots) is Jonathan Kuminga. Even Scoot had better numbers, and he has really struggled to get his shot to fall in the NBA. Matas is also an extremely suspect prospect. He only converts 50% of his layups despite a pretty big height advantage over most players in the G-League and almost half of his shots in the regular season (148/317) occurring less than 5 feet from the rim.
