Sarr is a project. Much more so than Risacher and Clingan. Loads of potential for sure, but I’m not sure he’s a good fit for a team that wants to compete for a championship now. Trae is entering his prime and Jalen Johnson is on the cusp of being an All-Star level forward. Risacher has the size and skill to contribute right away with meaningful first team minutes. So does Clingan, who has a NBA ready frame while Sarr would get pushed around on defense by bigger NBA centers. I’d be happy with Risacher or Clingan at one. I wouldn’t be mad at Sarr either, but I would understand if the Hawks go in a different direction.

I don’t think the Holland slide happens. It’s a different draft than last year’s Whitmore slide, and Holland’s defense is a more universally translatable and desirable skill. If he does, that’ll look like a major steal especially in this draft.

Fred VanVleet only has 1 guaranteed year left in Houston, and at 40 million a year, they'll either try to extend him at a much lower cost or let him walk. If they draft Sheppard, they might like him as their future point guard, instead of Thompson. Thompson's versatility allows you to have options, whereas other players like Sheppard or Sengun can only play 1 position. The only way I see the Rockets drafting Clingan, is if they something else in the works, that would require Sengun going elsewhere...and I doubt that's going to happen. Rockets desperately need floor spacing, and Sheppard's the best shooter in the draft...and does multiple things at a high level.

I can see the Spurs drafting Sheppard if he's there at 4, otherwise I really think that they're going for Ron Holland and Topic at 8 seems to be set in stone, although I don't like the fit of Sheppard and Topic, they would have to start Sheppard next season and keep Topic in the second unit to have somewhat of a defense. Holland just has too much potential, he's probably in the top 3 of this draft and he answers Spurs needs at the same time for a switchable wing, Keldon Jonhson has been disapointing and there's no one to pick up the slack defensively when Sochan is off the court. And even if Keldon Johnson was starting again, there would be no one to play backup at 3, Cissoko is probably going to spend one more season in the G League. Oh yeah and Holland's productivity on both ends would probably make up for Topic's absence the first season, seems like Topic could start rehab and ligth practice by the end of August, but I don't see the Spurs taking any risk, he'll probably sit for most of the season. With too picks the Spurs will take bets, I can't see them drafting Castle and Salaun, it just doesn't make sense.

Castle is certainly the best choice behind Holland, I would even say that Sheppard is a tier below them both if we're talking big board and projections long term.

@@sarahmccoy1941 About Risacher there's a lot of rumors regarding the Hawks trading the pick, the fact that he trained with the Spurs also raises questions, because it's very unlikely that he'll fall outside of the top 3, so his agents must have been told something by the Hawks... I've seen Jonathan Givony mentioning talks of a swap between pick 1 and 4 where the Hawks would get back their 2025 first round. Because they seem interested in Clingan and here again there's been a lot of rumors, even talks of the Hawks potentially drafting Clingan at 1.

There's just too many signs that point to Topic, I'd be really surprised if they don't draft him at 8.
