My goodness this was exactly what I went through. I built a business so strong and the pandemic took it to the ground. I was already on the plans for retiring by 55 and work while travelling. Now I’m basically starting over at 53 and building myself up again. I was just about to start this channel sharing my journey this weekend and I bumped into your video and it resonated so strongly. Keep it up. I know the journey wasn’t easy. Malaysian here now in Italy as a sourcing agent but seriously cost and lifestyle in Asia overall is amazing. It’s no wonder why of recent years we’ve had tons of Westerners move over to Malaysia. Wishing you the very best for 2025.

Thanks for the video. After spending two weeks in Thailand it was a food paradise. There's a world difference between food in Thailand vs the States. Pattaya was a great place to stay. The food, coffee and massages. Easily can do 3-6 mile walks daily on the beach. I’ll remember that park you visited on my next visit.

@ : Thanks. We're back in the States now after seven weeks in SEA. My first cup of coffee at Starbucks was $6.50 vs. $1.00. I particularly enjoyed the coffee in Vietnam (coconut coffee) and was surprised to find a Vietnamese coffee shop in the Philippines that also had it on its menu. Massages are as cheap as coffee. I know it was overkill, but my wife and I got a 90-minute massage almost every day ($15-20 vs. $150-200 in the States).

So in the beginning of the year, I first came across your KZbin channel and subscribed to learn more. Now the year is soon to be over 2025~ and I'm almost convinced, that I will go to Bangkok to see for myself, everything you have been sharing and your wonderful journey! I first have to get the funds together, because even though it may be very affordable, the flip side is the expensive airfare! I will visit for 40 days to get the most of my visit. I already have my passport and looked into how many days, could I stay without a visa. And it's very affordable, I did extensive research and love the idea of going to Thailand!👌🏽

You look great for 54. I tried guessing your age, thought you are in between 43-45. You look healthy. Great for you retiring this way. My plan is to do it once i retire. I been to most countries in Asia, but haven't lived there. Don't mind giving my money to some Asia country vs USA. What i seen from visiting countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, Bali, Malaysia, i noticed people are much more happier and sincere than they are in usa. Food is of course better in Asia than in Usa. And i love walking culture and safety in Asia. Much safer than any city in Usa. Traffic can be annoying but that is ok ,you get used to it.

Thanks for the great videos as always. Did you make a total of everything combined that I missed? From what I gathered monthly it was $500 on accomodation, $300 on food, $100 health insurance, Travel I didnt get except you can get flights under $100 sometimes including some hotel stays. Dental & medical you pay cash but dont know how much except a crown was $400ish and also I didnt hear about entertainment costs?. Did you include the cost of returning to Hawaii as most people would want an annual trip back home Im guessing where they would have to pay the more expensive prices. Keep up the good work.

Suggestion: seeing you are in Pattaya and like to walk and hike. Try going to the Big Buddha. The statue is on a mountain top, it is not a hard hike but well worth seeing. The best times are early morning or near sunset. Keep up the great work.

Today I bought 4 small chicken nigri , which are tiny they are only good enough for a snack and 2 bottles of water and it cost me $15bks 😢 I have been debating back and forth if I should sell or rent my home so I can go to SEA. I will be contacting an accountant and advisers in the New Year as to what my best plan of action is. If I rent my home I can negatively gear it so when I am 75 it will all be paid off. If I want to come back I can. If not I can live off the income from it but will pay tax on it Or sell it and have enough to get a nice condo in Bangkok or villa in Hua Hin and still have enough to invest in other things that could make me a recurring income without paying tax on it. Either way I realise that the lifestyle I want to live isn’t possible for me here. Honestly been battling with depression for a long time and I notice how it tends to go away when my environment changes. I have come to the conclusion my depression is from all the stress of trying to make enough to pay to live every month.

Great vlog....however...things dont always go smoothly when traveling.ok get travel health insurance...but if you become seriously ill or are in an accident when travelling solo problems will arise.so this,means leaving all your details with outside family or close friends.not all solo travelers have this.also it took you alot to reach your ability to reach your freedom.plus alot of people are running away from themselves....and that wont work.

I’ll be buying my airplane ticket first one of my retirement in just a few days. I’m looking to fly out sometime in mid January. I think I’m going to do Malaysia first KL and Jakarta and then off to Thailand. I would like to do Vietnam, but I don’t know how to get the visa can you buy The Vietnam visa from a business in Pattaya? I do not have a Vietnam consulate near where I live in Michigan. The way, I understand that you have to have a visa set up ahead of time for Vietnam.

Wow 500 a month all in is fantastic. do you have a video that shows what you spent on average in Latin America? I hope to start in Panama where I have been before. I know some people there and it will give me a jumping off place... and a bouncing back place if I decide it's not for me.

Good question Each Latin American country was 5 days or so It was like 1000 each country with food etc etc Maybe a little less

I have lived in Panama traveled through out SA & currently living in Buenos Aires. I explore SE Asia during the winters here. You can not beat S E Asia for budget travel. I spend at least twice as much traveling through SA.
